Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah was on Wednesday appointed as the president of the Asian Cricket Council for a third consecutive term. Shah’s extension was proposed by the Sri Lanka Cricket president Shammi Silva for the second time and the nomination was unanimously backed by all the members of the ACC at its annual general meeting in Bali. Shah initially assumed the role in January 2021, succeeding Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan. Under Shah’s leadership, the ACC successfully organised the Asia Cup in T20 format in 2022 and in ODI format in 2023.

“I am grateful to the ACC Board for their continued trust. We must remain committed to ensuring the all-round development of the sport with a special focus on regions where it is still in its infancy. The ACC is committed to nurturing cricket across Asia,” Shah said in a release.

“Under Shah’s guidance, the ACC has been instrumental in unearthing and promoting new talent in cricketing powerhouses like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka,” Silva said.

Pankaj Khimji, chairman of Oman Cricket and vice-president of the ACC, also extended congratulations on Shah’s term.

“Today, stakeholders see value in investing in tournaments that the ACC conducts, and I credit him for this major transformation, which will further fuel the growth of the game in the region,” Khimji stated.

Welcoming the reappointment, Hassan said cricket in Asia will continue to prosper under Shah’s leadership, emphasising collaboration with the ACC in furthering this endeavor.

Beyond SEO With Content Marketing Strategies | BrandingExperts.com

In digital marketing, content marketing is a critical element that goes beyond traditional SEO’s limits, becoming a pathway to holistic brand development. BrandingExperts.com believes that this strategy focuses on creating and promoting valuable, pertinent content designed to captivate a specific audience, thus driving increased website traffic, improving brand recognition, and nurturing a customer’s trust in the long run. Content marketing shifts the focus from merely optimizing for search engine algorithms to genuinely engaging users with relevant content that matches their interests.

This discussion explores how content marketing is critical in crafting a solid brand online identity. It emphasizes the necessity of syncing content strategies with what the target audience is seeking, utilizing data-driven insights to present customized content that aids in the consumer’s decision-making journey. The article will show how content marketing boosts SEO performance and reinforces brand credibility and customer loyalty.

As a fundamental aspect of a robust digital marketing plan, content marketing offers a diverse strategy to foster long-term online growth and to forge a durable connection between brands and their consumers.
Content marketing and SEO – An in-depth comparative analysis

Content marketing is an approach focusing on creating, promoting, and optimizing important, relevant, and consistent content types for a clearly defined audience — ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. Unlike traditional marketing, which interrupts consumers from getting its message across, content marketing delivers information that informs their target audience. The essence of content strategy is based on providing content that will resonate with the audience so much that they willfully choose it as their go-to source.

Contrasting content marketing with SEO, it’s crucial to understand that while both aim to drive more traffic, their methods and objectives differ significantly. SEO is the technical process of increasing a website’s visibility in search engines’ organic rankings. It uses keywords, meta tags, and backlinks to rank higher in search results. Conversely, content marketing centers on the quality and relevance of the content itself, aiming to engage and educate the audience rather than just optimizing for search engines. While SEO tactics can get consumers to a page, content marketing is what keeps them there, engages them, and builds brand loyalty.

The Critical Importance of Content Marketing in Today’s Digital Ecosystem

Content marketing is a beacon in the overcrowded digital marketplace, guiding potential customers through their journey with valuable insights, information, and entertainment. As we delve deeper, let’s unpack the technical facets that underscore its significance and how it fundamentally transforms customer-brand dynamics.

Strategic Content Creation: The Bedrock of Digital Engagement

At the heart of content marketing lies the strategic creation of content. This isn’t about randomly churning out articles or videos; it’s a meticulous process of understanding audience needs, preferences, and pain points. For instance, a tech company might publish in-depth tutorials on using its products, leveraging blog posts and video content. This dual approach caters to those who prefer reading and learning visually, ensuring wider accessibility and engagement.

SEO: The Catalyst for Visibility

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the lifeblood of content marketing. Content becomes discoverable by strategically incorporating keywords, meta tags, and backlinks. Consider how a fashion retailer might use trend-related keywords in their blog posts to capture traffic from potential customers seeking the latest style. By aligning content with search intent, businesses can reach the right audiences at the right time. This helps them capture buyer intents actively, without missing an opportunity, and use content to give themselves a chance to cater to a prospect’s urgent needs.

Diverse Content Formats: Catering to Varied Consumer Preferences

Diversity in content format is not just about creativity; it’s about accessibility and preference. Some users prefer the immediacy of infographics for quick insights, while others lean towards long-form articles for a deep dive into a topic. Podcasts have become famous for convenience, helping consumers consume content on the go. A B2B company, for example, might use white papers to provide comprehensive analyses of industry trends, catering to professionals seeking detailed information.

Analytics: The Lens Into Content Performance

Analytics play a pivotal role in shaping content strategy. Tools like Google Analytics offer a window into how users interact with content—what they click, how long they stay, and what actions they take afterward. A content marketer can see which blog post led to the most newsletter sign-ups or which video prompted the most product inquiries. This approach is data-driven, helping them take insights and change their content strategies from time to time, ensuring accurate resource allocation.

Engagement and Conversion: Beyond the Click

The ultimate goal of content marketing extends beyond mere views or likes; it’s about fostering engagement that leads to conversion. Engaging content prompts action, whether signing up for a newsletter, downloading a guide, or purchasing. Here, the technical aspect involves understanding the customer’s journey and crafting content that guides them from awareness to decision. For example, an initial blog post might introduce a problem, followed by an e-book that offers solutions and a case study demonstrating the product’s effectiveness in solving that problem.

Decoding the Evolution of SEO Content Marketing Over the Past Decade

The last ten years have seen a seismic shift in SEO content marketing, with strategies evolving from keyword stuffing to creating value-driven content landscapes. As an experienced content marketer, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformation in how we approach content and SEO to resonate with both search engines and human audiences. Let’s dive into the nuances of this evolution, highlighting successful practices, outdated tactics, and the technical intricacies that have shaped our strategies.

From Keywords to Intent: The Evolution of SEO Strategies

The early part of the decade focused heavily on keywords. Marketers would cram as many relevant (and sometimes irrelevant) keywords into their content, hoping to rank higher on search engine results pages (SERPs). This practice, while effective initially, led to a glut of low-quality, hard-to-read content flooding the internet.

Google’s algorithm updates, such as Panda and Penguin, marked a pivotal shift away from this tactic. These updates penalized sites with poor-quality content, rewarding those that offered valuable, relevant information to users. This shift underscored the need for content marketers to focus on user intent rather than mere keyword density. It became clear that understanding why someone searched was as crucial as knowing what they searched for.

Quality Over Quantity: The Rise of Comprehensive Content

As the decade progressed, the mantra “content is king” evolved. It was about more than just creating meaningful, in-depth content that comprehensively addressed users’ needs. The rise of “pillar pages” and “topic clusters” became a testament to this shift. Marketers began crafting extensive guides on specific topics (pillar pages) linked to more detailed articles on subtopics (cluster content) covering a subject. This approach boosted SEO and established brands as authoritative voices in their niches.

User Experience (UX) Takes Center Stage

Google’s recent updates, like the Page Experience update, emphasized the user experience. Loading times, mobile-friendliness, and interactivity became critical SEO factors. Content marketers had to think beyond the written word, considering how quickly their pages loaded, how they rendered on various devices, and how easy they were to navigate. This emphasis on UX highlighted the intersection of technical SEO, content marketing, and web development, pushing marketers to take risks and create unique digital strategies.

Outdated Practices: What We Left Behind

Keyword stuffing and the pursuit of backlinks from any source, regardless of relevance or quality, are practices we’ve gladly left in the past. These tactics tarnish a brand’s reputation and attract penalties from search engines. The focus has shifted towards earning high-quality backlinks by creating share-worthy content and engaging in legitimate outreach efforts.

The Future: AI, Voice Search, and Beyond

Looking ahead, artificial intelligence (AI) and voice search are set to redefine SEO content marketing further. AI tools are already helping marketers generate content ideas, optimize for keywords, and even predict the performance of their content. Meanwhile, voice search demands a shift towards more conversational content as queries become longer and more natural.

The Next Decade in SEO and Content Marketing: A Technical Perspective

The SEO and content marketing landscape is poised for significant changes, with several key trends shaping its future.

Short-form, Highly Specific Content

Short-form content will become increasingly important. Users demand quick, accessible answers to their questions, and search engines are evolving to favor content that can provide these answers efficiently. Expect to see a rise in concise posts, videos, and infographics that get straight to the point, addressing particular queries with precision.

Focus on Specific and Targeted Keywords

The use of specific and targeted keywords will intensify. As search algorithms become more sophisticated, they can better discern the intent behind searches. Content creators must refine their keyword strategies, focusing on long-tail keywords matching potential customers’ queries. This approach improves visibility in search results and increases the relevance of traffic to the site, enhancing the chances of conversion.

Hyper-Personalization

Hyper-personalization will play a pivotal role in content marketing strategies. Advances in data analytics and AI will enable marketers to tailor content to individual users like never before, based on their browsing history, purchase behavior, and even engagement across different platforms. This level of personalization will increase user engagement and foster loyalty by making users feel understood and valued personally.

The Value of Original Content from Industry Experts

Content authenticity and expertise will become more crucial. With the internet saturated with generic, mass-produced content, original insights from industry experts will stand out. This means that brands will increasingly turn to professionals within their field to create or endorse content, adding a layer of credibility and trust that audiences seek. This trend will likely reduce the effectiveness of content that needs more depth or firsthand expertise.

Iran: Sustainable truce in Israeli war on Gaza key to security conundrum in region

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations says a sustainable ceasefire in Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip is the key to restoring security and stability in the West Asia region.

“A sustainable ceasefire for the war on Gaza serves as the linchpin to unravel the security conundrum in the region, restore tranquility along the Red Sea and the border between Lebanon and occupied Palestine, and halt the pernicious cycle of retaliatory measures,” the mission wrote in a social media post on Tuesday.

It came after the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement confirmed that it is studying a three-phase proposal for a truce in Gaza.

The head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haniyeh said on Tuesday that he is studying the proposal, brought forward in Paris over the weekend, to halt the war and enable the exchange of Palestinian detainees and Israeli captives.

Haniyeh noted in a statement that Hamas is “open to discussing any serious and practical initiatives or ideas, provided that they lead to a comprehensive cessation of aggression.”

US airstrikes on Yemen in response to pro-Palestine operations by the Yemeni army in the Red sea have widened the conflict and caused it to spread to areas beyond Palestine.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.

The United States and the United Kingdom have been carrying out strikes against Yemen after the Biden administration and its allies offered the Tel Aviv regime unqualified support and said that Yemeni forces bear the consequences of their attacks against Israeli-owned ships or merchant vessels heading to the occupied territories.

The Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza has also prompted retaliatory strikes from Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah.

The movement has vowed to keep up its retaliatory operations as long as the Tel Aviv regime continues its onslaught on Gaza.

The Israeli campaign in Gaza has killed at least 26,751 people, most of them children and women. Another 65,636 individuals have also been wounded.

Jay Shah unanimously reappointed as ACC president for a third term

New Delhi: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will be continuing as President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after being unanimously reappointed for a third straight term at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Bali, Indonesia on Wednesday.

Shah’s extension was proposed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva for the second time and the nomination was unanimously backed by all ACC members. “I am grateful to the ACC Board for their continued trust. We must remain committed to ensuring the all-round development of the sport with a special focus on regions where it is still in its infancy. The ACC is committed to nurturing cricket across Asia,” said Shah in an ACC statement.

Shah, who has been the BCCI secretary since 2019, had taken over as ACC president in January 2021 from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan, making him the youngest administrator to be re-appointed as the ACC president.

“Jay has played a pivotal role in steering the ACC towards significant progress in promoting and developing cricket across the Asian region. I am pleased that the ACC Board supported the proposal unanimously. Jay has a proven record of boosting finances through commercial and broadcast deals and channelizing the finances to the grassroots level, uplifting the associate members,” said Silva.

The ACC board also acknowledged Shah’s proven track record in enhancing financial stability through strategic commercial and broadcast deals, as well as his commitment to channelizing these financial resources to grassroots levels, thereby uplifting associate members within the organisation.

“I’ve worked closely with Mr. Jay Shah for a considerable time and know firsthand of his passion and enthusiasm towards administration. He is a young and dynamic leader with a clear vision and roadmap. Not only has he managed to foster a collaborative spirit among the Member Boards but has significantly enhanced the financial and commercial standing of the ACC.

“Today, stakeholders see value in investing in tournaments that the ACC conducts, and I credit him for this major transformation, which will further fuel the growth of the game in the region. I look forward to working closely with him on taking ACC to the next level,” stated Pankaj Khimji, ACC Vice-President and Chairman of Oman Cricket.

The ACC also said it has achieved significant progress in promoting and developing cricket across the Asian region under Shah’s leadership, like organising the Men’s and Women’s Asia Cup, as well as Emerging Teams’ tournaments and U19 competitions.

“I congratulate Mr. Jay Shah and all the members of the ACC for unanimously voting to extend his term. Under Mr. Shah, the ACC has scaled new heights, and he has been instrumental in developing and strengthening grassroots cricket.

“The Asia Cup is now the most sought-after continental tournament in world cricket and also the most-anticipated, and Mr. Shah deserves appreciation for elevating this tournament to the level it deserves. I am fully confident that cricket in Asia will continue to prosper, and we will work closely with ACC in furthering this endeavour,” said Hassan, also serving as an ACC Executive Board Member.

“I congratulate Mr Jay Shah on his reappointment as the ACC President for a third term. His leadership has been a catalyst for growth and popularity of the sport within the Asian cricketing community.

“He laid an impetus on providing more exposure to the cricketers from the region and we see that across formats. The Asia Cup is definitely a crowning jewel and it showcases the true competitiveness inherent in Asian teams.

“His financial prudence ranging from broadcast deals to commercial and sponsorship agreements have made his two previous terms highly impactful and engaging. I assure him full support and I look forward to yet another successful term and an enriching period for ACC under him,” said Mirwais Ashraf, Afghanistan Cricket Board Chairman and ACC Executive Board Member.

Indian-Origin Newsstand Operator In US Hit With Over Rs 76 Lakh In Fines

Indian-Origin Newsstand Operator In US Hit With Over Rs 76 Lakh In Fines

A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support the 59-year-old.

A 59-year-old Indian-origin man in New York is selling papers like an old-school newsboy after the city slapped him with fines and shuttered the newsstand he has operated for 23 years. According to the New York Post, the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) slapped Sadik Topia, an Indian immigrant from Gujarat, with a staggering $92,000 (over Rs 76 lakh) in fines, citing various violations and closed his kiosk on West 79th Street and Broadway on November 7. “The city says they support community, small businesses and the economy – but they’re killing me,” Mr Topia told the outlet.

According to the Post, the 59-year-old faces a fine for allegedly selling e-cigarette products without a valid license, improper shelves in the newsstand and violating city rules by selling phone chargers for $30 instead of the allowed amount of less than $10.

Mr Topia has been fined $58,400 for selling e-cigarettes after his licence expired in December 2021. He was fined $100 per day for 584 days – between the day his license expired and July 12, 2023, when there was a hearing about the violation. He also owes $34,000 for having improper shelves in the kiosk and selling a phone charger for $30 despite the city’s $10 limit.

However, Mr Topia contested, arguing that he only sold items without a license for 13 days. “They tell me to take the shelves down, I take them down immediately. I removed e-cigarettes immediately,” he recalled. “I like it here, I have been here for 23 years and I work hard. If they can reduce the fines, I can get my license back and everything will be clear and I will be okay,” he said.

Mr Topia is now selling papers to his loyal customers every morning. He makes his way to the Upper West Side to personally sell the papers on the streets. His customers, deeply upset by his exile, also attest to his dedication. “He’s working in this freezing weather. It’s ridiculous and it’s just inhumane,” Ann MacDougall, a regular customer, told the outlet. Another loyal customer, 77-year-old Carol, added, “He’s the greatest guy, and it’s just so unfair what’s happening to him”.

Meanwhile, Mr Topia’s plight has caught the attention of city officials, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who pledged to “look into” his fines and assist him in reopening his newsstand. City Councilwoman Gale Brewer also wrote to DCWP, urging them to lower Topia’s penalties.

Moreover, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to support the 59-year-old. With over $2,400 raised so far, the campaign aims to reach a goal of $67,450.

Iran warns US any aggression will be met with 'crushing response'

Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations has warned the United States that any act of aggression against Iran and its people will be met with a crushing response.

The mission, in a statement on Tuesday, categorically rejected media claims about the exchange of several messages between the United States and Iran amid a surge in regional tensions.

“Such messages have not been exchanged at all. Nevertheless, it constitutes a principled policy of the Islamic Republic to respond decisively and forcefully to any hostile move against the country, its interests, and its nationals,” it stated.

Some media outlets claimed that Washington has sent messages to Tehran over the past two days, via third parties, that it does not want an open war, and warned that escalation would be met with US retaliatory action.

The reports further claimed that Tehran rejected Washington’s threats and said any attack on its soil would constitute crossing a red line and would be met with an appropriate response.

Neither Washington nor Tehran has confirmed the reports that followed a drone attack on a US base in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border. The United States military said three American forces were killed and at least 25 others wounded in the strike, blaming it on “Iranian-backed groups.”

‘No regional group acting on behalf of Iran’

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations also dismissed the US accusations in a letter to UN Security Council President Nicolas de Rivière on Monday.

Amir Saeid Iravani asserted unequivocally that “there is no group affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces, whether in Iraq, Syria, or elsewhere that operates directly or indirectly under the control of the Islamic Republic of Iran or acts on its behalf.”

“Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not responsible for the actions of any individual or group within the region,” the diplomat added.

Iraqi resistance forces have conducted dozens of strikes on the US-run military installations in both Iraq and Syria in retaliation for Washington’s singled-out support for the Israeli genocidal campaign in Gaza.

n Tuesday, Iraq’s Islamic Resistance announced a pause in its operations against American targets across the region.

The group announced the decision through a statement by Kata’ib Hezbollah (Hezbollah Brigades), one of its major members.

Israel launched the war on Gaza following a historic operation by the Gaza-based Hamas resistance group against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

More than 110 days into the campaign, the regime has achieved no objectives despite killing at least 26,751 people in Gaza, around 70 percent of them women and children. Another 65,636 individuals have been wounded as well.

The United States has supplied Israel with weapons and intelligence support and blocked UN resolutions calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Palestinian territory.
