Hyderabad: In a battle between two contrasting teams, bottom-placed Hyderabad FC kick-off their second leg of the Indian Super League season 10 against FC Goa in GMC Balayogi Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday.

The Nizam, champions of the 2021-22 seasons, are in deep trouble not just on the pitch but also off the it with financial woes, resulting in many first team Indian and foreign players terminating their contracts or moved to other ISL clubs and in desperate need of financial injection to sustain in the league.

Winless so far in the season, the club has a thin and a young squad for the rest of the season. “During the first half of the season, the senior players who have departed from the club did not play at their highest level. Now that those players are gone, the road ahead for the club is to nourish the young players to bring out the best,” says HFC head coach Thangboi Singto. “It is a big moment for the club starting with the second leg against FC Goa as the team expects to do better than the first leg,” he added. The visitors are under the guidance of coach Manolo Marquez, who needs no introduction given the Spaniard guided the Nizams to the ISL title. Moreover, former HFC forward Mohammad Yasir will be back in Gachibowli, who recently made a loan move to FC Goa.

Both clubs are locked with three wins each in the head to head stats, with previous three meetings favoured in HFC’s triumphs. However, this time lies a different challenge as the Gaurs in stupendous form, who are in second place, while Hyderabad are enduring a disaster season.

The clash between the two sides appears to favour the Goan side. However, HFC head coach asserts his team is ready for the upcoming challenge even though the odds are against his side. “The players are motivated to improve the situation of the club at least on the pitch. We are very realistic about the club’s situation and eyeing to move from the bottom of the table and finish mid-table by the end of the season,” he concluded.

ATF condemns Govt decision to celebrate balladeer Gaddar’s Jayanthi

In a statement, ATF convenor said Gaddar had been associated with Maoist ideology—an ideology responsible for the deaths of numerous police personnel and innocent civilians, and fundamentally opposed to the principles of democracy

Hyderabad: The Anti-Terrorism Forum (ATF) has condemned the State government’s decision to officially celebrate balladeer Gaddar’s Jayanthi and the allotment of land for the installation of a statue of Gaddar in Tellapur village of Sangareddy District.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, ATF convenor Ravinuthala Shashidhar said Gaddar had been associated with Maoist ideology—an ideology responsible for the deaths of numerous police personnel and innocent civilians, and fundamentally opposed to the principles of democracy. Hence, the glorification of such an individual and his ideologies by an elected government not only undermines the democratic fabric of the nation but also serves to demoralize our armed forces who risk their lives to protect our country from internal and external threats.

The action of the State government signal a troubling endorsement of anti-democratic values and directly contravene the laws of the land which expressly ban Maoism and Naxalism due to their violent methods and objectives, he said.

Iran FM urges US to drop language of threat, focus on political solutions

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian

Iran’s foreign minister has advised the US to stop using a language of threat against the axis of resistance and instead focus on a political solution to the conflict in the region.

“The US must stop using the language of threat and blame shifting, and focus on a political solution,” Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The minister said Iran’s response in a threatening situation would be “decisive and immediate.”

Amir-Abdollahian was referring to threats by American officials to target the resistance forces in the region in response to a deadly attack on a US base in Jordan earlier this week. Some US lawmakers have called for Iran to be targeted.

Washington has blamed Iraqi resistance group Kataib Hezbollah for the attack, which it says left three US soldiers dead and dozens injured. Kataib Hezbollah says it has suspended anti-US operations, but warned Iraq’s resistance will respond to any attack by the US.

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden announced he has decided how to respond to the attack.

Meanwhile, IRGC Chief Commander Brigadier General Hossein Salami has also reacted to threats against Iran, saying the country will respond to any attack by the US.

“We hear threats coming from American officials, we tell them that they have already tested us and we now know one another; no threat will be left unanswered,” Salami said.

Iran’s envoy to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, also warned on Wednesday that Tehran would respond decisively to any attack on its territory, interests, or Iranian nationals outside its borders.

US bases in Iraq and Syria have come under repeated attacks by Iraq’s Islamic Resistance since early October when Israel launched its brutal onslaught against Gaza.

Washington is widely viewed as an accomplice in the genocidal war on Gaza, providing the regime with tons of arms and ammunition and vetoing UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

However, the farmers have alleged that the CCI was planning to close it down permanently for this year though a huge number of farmers have not yet sold their produce this year.

US issues ultimatum to Turkey to cancel S-400 deal

The American official also suggested that Washington may even lift sanctions on its NATO ally if Ankara is more amenable, according to Russia Today (RT).

According to RT, Speaking with CNNTurk television on Monday, Nuland said Ankara could be brought in from the cold on the F-35 project if it resolved the spat, after Turkey was booted from the program in 2019 over its acquisition of the S-400 from Russia.

“If we could get through this S-400 issue, which we would like to do, the US would be delighted to welcome Turkey back into the F-35 family,” she stated. “If we can get through this issue, then the CAATSA issue will go away, and we can get back into an F-35 conversation,” Nuland added, referring to US sanctions which target Turkey’s arms industry.

In announcing the CAATSA penalties in 2020, Washington said it had informed Ankara that the S-400 purchase would “endanger the security of US military technology and personnel and provide substantial funds to Russia’s defense sector,” going on to remind its ally of “the availability of alternative, NATO-interoperable systems to meet its defense requirements.” It urged Turkey to “resolve the S-400 problem immediately.”

While it remains unclear whether Ankara will accept Nuland’s offer to walk away from the Russian air defense system, officials have previously rejected the idea, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan insisting the purchase was a “done deal.” Turkish defense industry chief Haluk Gorgun later added that his country was “making air defense systems” of its own, saying “we don’t need S-300s [or] S-400s.”

In addition to being kicked out of the F-35 program, under which Ankara produced hundreds of aircraft parts, the White House had also declined to authorize a sale of F-16 upgrades for the Turkish air force. However, US officials greenlit a deal for 79 modernization kits last week, though it remains to be seen whether the move spells any broader change to US policy toward its NATO ally.

The 15-day period started on Friday night. After 15 days, this notification period will end and then we will proceed with the implementation,” Nuland continued. “As I understand it, modernization begins immediately. Frankly, I do not know by heart when the new jets will be ready, but it is obvious that it is a priority for the USA for Turkey to obtain these jets as soon as possible.”

The senior US diplomat went on to suggest that Ankara’s recent vote in favor of Swedish NATO membership had sealed the deal, stating: “We are very pleased that Turkey joined us in saying yes to Sweden.”

Hamas warns of Israel's imminent carnage at al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis

The Palestinian Hamas resistance movement has warned about the Israeli military’s intention to perpetrate a massacre at al-Amal Hospital in the southern sector of the besieged Gaza Strip, after the regime forces stormed the medical facility.

Hamas announced in a statement that Israeli troops raided the hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza’s second largest city, amid intensive gunfire, and ordered the medical staff, displaced families and patients to evacuate.

The group roundly denounced the Israeli assault on the hospital and the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) headquarters as “another war crime,” and “part of the ongoing war of extermination against its Palestinian population.”

Hamas also slammed the Israeli military for disrespecting the international community, the United Nation and international resolutions, especially the recent International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling which ordered the Tel Aviv regime to take steps aimed at preventing acts of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

The resistance movement finally demanded a collective international action to prevent the “criminal Zionist entity” from pressing ahead with its horrific crimes and atrocities against children and ordinary people in Gaza.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing local sources speaking on condition of anonymity, reported on Wednesday that Nasser Medical Complex and al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis remain under Israeli military siege.

They sources. said that the occupation’s armored tanks continue to intensively target and surround al-Amal Hospital for the tenth day, amid constant shooting to prevent any movement on the ground.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis remains under Israeli military siege for the second consecutive week.

The ongoing siege on the hospital puts at risk 150 medical personnel, 450 wounded people and around 3,000 displaced persons who have taken refuge there.

Most hospitals in Gaza have already ceased functioning due to bombardments and supply shortages after more than three months of Israeli ground and aerial offensives against the coastal territory.

The al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis is only minimally functional and is surrounded by Israeli military, according to the United Nations.

Israel launched hostilities in Gaza following a historic operation by the Gaza-based Hamas resistance group against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

More than 110 days into the campaign, the regime has achieved no objectives despite killing at least 26,900 people in Gaza, around 70 percent of them women and children. Another 65,949 individuals have sustained injuries as well.

Australia cricket team all-rounder Mitchell Marsh‘s emotional acceptance speech after winning the Allan Border Medal at the Cricket Australia Awards 2024 has gone viral on social media. Marsh had a brilliant run of form in the past year and he ended up beating the likes of Pat Cummins to clinch the top prize in the award ceremony. During his speech, he started by thanking his wife Greta and even mentioned Cummins and coach Andrew McDonald for backing him as part of the national team.

“Greta is an amazing human, I said in my wedding vows eight months ago. She gave me the perspective on life I needed, and our life is a lot of fun. If I get a duck, or get a hundred, she’s always the same,” Marsh said during his acceptance speech.

“To my teammates. I just love playing in this team. I have had so much fun in the last 12-18 months. We have had so much team success and I am proud to contribute to that over this period of time. I would particularly like to thank Ronny (Andrew McDonald) and Patty (Pat Cummins). You believed in me and I can’t thank you enough for believing in me,” Marsh added.

Marsh also amused everyone with his brutal honesty and his comments left his teammates in splits.

“I’m a bit fat at times and I love a beer, but you see the best in me always. Playing under you has been an absolute dream,” Marsh said in his acceptance speech.

“I hadn’t really thought about it until a few of the boys started getting stuck into me that they thought I was going to win it, then I started thinking maybe I’m a chance.”

“I had four beers at lunch, so I had to stop there. Now I’m sort of hoping that me winning this isn’t like COVID, and we’ll look back in three years time and go that was a weird time,” he further said.
