AAP Starts Public Poll On Whether Arvind Kejriwal Should Resign Or Not

Delhi minister Gopal Rai conducted the door-to-door campaign in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area.

New Delhi:

The Aam Aadmi Party started the door-to-door ‘Mai Bhi Kejriwal’ signature campaign in Delhi, on Friday to get people’s opinion on whether Arvind Kejriwal should resign as Delhi Chief Minister if he is arrested under a “conspiracy by the BJP”, Delhi minister Gopal Rai said.

Delhi minister Gopal Rai conducted the door-to-door campaign in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area.

“Today on the first day, we conducted a door-to-door campaign in the Laxmi Nagar constituency and spoke to people. So far, the people we’ve talked to say that Mr Kejriwal has done a lot of work for the public. The Chief Minister has provided free electricity, water, healthcare, and education, and facilitated bus travel for women and pilgrimage trips for the elderly, so he should not resign but run the government from jail. People also firmly opined that these arrests are happening under an agenda. In this situation, he should not resign,” Mr Rai said.

Earlier this month, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Mr Kejriwal for questioning in a money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.

Mr Kejriwal skipped appearing before the Enforcement Directorate and demanded that it should withdraw its notice, claiming it was “illegal and politically motivated”.

“The BJP is plotting the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal out of fear of losing in the Lok Sabha elections. We conducted a door-to-door campaign and asked people whether if there was an arrest, should Mr Kejriwal resign or run the government from jail,” Mr Rai said

“People firmly said that Arvind Kejriwal has done a lot of work for the public, therefore, he should not resign but run the government from jail. People also said that all these arrests are happening under one agenda and in this situation, Arvind Kejriwal should not resign,” Mr Rai added.

Mr Rai said that from December 1 to 20, they will conduct a door-to-door campaign at all 2600 polling stations, and from December 21 to 24, they will hold public meetings in all 250 wards. In the end, whatever opinion the public has, they will give to Arvind Kejriwal.

Hanamkonda: Protest over fatal accident, family accuses police of inaction

Hanamkonda: Outraged relatives of Gadhe Kavitha (35), killed in an accident on Thursday, staged a protest at Fathima Junction here on Friday.

They alleged that the Kazipet police were showing negligence in handling the case. Kavitha, who was coming out of the St. Gabriel school’s polling station after voting, was about to get on her husband Joseph’s motorcycle when a car hit her dragging her several metres. Despite Joseph’s efforts to rush her to MGM Hospital, Kavitha succumbed to her injuries on the way.

The family members accused the police of shielding the accused, citing bias in the investigation. In response, authorities asserted that a case was filed against the accused.

Cristiano Ronaldo Faces $1 Billion Lawsuit Over Binance Cryptocurrency Advertisements

Cristiano Ronaldo created NFTs to reward fans for their years of support.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently embroiled in a legal battle involving a staggering $1 billion lawsuit for his endorsement of Binance, the global cryptocurrency exchange leader.

The lawsuit, filed in a US district court in Florida, contends that the former Manchester United and Real Madrid stars “promoted, assisted in, and/or actively participated in the offer and sale of unregistered securities in coordination with Binance.”

The plaintiffs claim his endorsement led them to make loss-making investments. They are seeking damages of “a sum exceeding” $1 billion (Rs 8331 crore).

According to the BBC, in November 2022, Binance announced its first “CR7” collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in partnership with Ronaldo, which the footballer said would reward fans “for all the years of support.” NFTs are virtual assets that can be bought and sold but have no real-world form of their own; in other words, they only exist digitally. Generally, they are used to mark ownership of something, such as a picture or video online.

“CR7” refers to Ronaldo’s initials and shirt number and is used as branding in a range of products, from footwear to fragrances, that have helped make him one of the wealthiest athletes on earth.

The news portal further said that the claimants allege that Ronaldo’s promotion of Binance led to a “500% increase in searches” for the crypto exchange, which is registered in the Cayman Islands. They also say it led people to use the firm to invest in what they call “unregistered securities,” such as Binance’s BNB cryptocurrency.

According to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), these assets can be considered securities, and so celebrities endorsing them must follow US law.

“When celebrities endorse investment opportunities, including crypto-asset securities, investors should be careful to research if the investments are right for them, and they should know why celebrities are making those endorsements,” US Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Gary Gensler said.

'It's America's war': Resistance groups hold US responsible for fresh Gaza attacks

Palestinian resistance groups have blamed the US for the resumption of Israel’s brutal war on Gaza as Hamas says the Israeli regime rejected all offers for an extension of the truce.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said Washington openly greenlighted further Israeli attacks, which have so far killed more than 15,000 people in the besieged Gaza Strip.

“The US administration and President [Joe] Biden bear full responsibility for the continuation of Israel war crimes in the Gaza Strip, after their absolute support for it, and the green light they once again granted following the visit of their Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to the entity yesterday,” the group said in a Friday statement, referring to by Blinken’s Thursday remarks that signaled Washington’s support for the resumption of Israeli war on Gaza.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health says at least 109 people have been killed and hundreds more have been injured as the Israeli regime resumed military operations and targeted residential areas and refugee camps across the densely-populated areas since Friday morning when a week-long truce expired.

Hamas said the occupation resumed the war after refusing to engage with all the offers for the release of other detainees.

“We hold the occupation responsible for the resumption of the war and aggression on Gaza. Negotiations were held all night for extending the ceasefire, during which the movement offered an exchange of prisoners and the elderly,” the statement said.

“However, the occupation refused to deal with all these offers, as it had already decided to resume its criminal aggression.”

The statement stressed that the Palestinian people and the resistance would thwart Israel’s plots and “break the will of the defeated occupation army.”

Separately, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, said it holds the American administration fully responsible for the renewal of aggression, as it okayed a continuation of the genocide and massacres against Palestinians.

The PFLP said the Palestinian people have no choice but to resist the Israeli aggression, stressing that the Israeli enemy will fail again in achieving any of its goals, no matter how many times it bombs Palestinians and commits massacres against them.

“The treacherous enemy will fail again and will return defeated, dragging the tails of disappointment and defeat,” it said.

“Certainly, the resistance will write the end of the political future of the war criminal Netanyahu and his gang.”

Moreover, a senior Hezbollah official said Israel resumed its aggression on Gaza after the US decided to do so.

“This war from the beginning has been America’s war against the Palestinian people, and all American positions and the course of events were indicative that America is not just a partner but is the decision-maker on the matter,” Ali Damush, the vice chairman of the executive council of Hezbollah, said in a Friday statement.

He vowed that the resistance in Gaza and the entire region would not let the Israelis achieve their goals in this war and “will not allow the Americans and Israelis to have the upper hand in the region.”

Police who spotted the landmine blocked the road preventing movement of the public on the road. 4.1 overs (0 Run) Floated up and on off, sort of swinging away from the batter. Ruturaj Gaikwad just blocks it into the ground.

3.6 overs (0 Run) On the hard length and into the batter. Yashasvi Jaiswal stands back and punches it back to the bowler. A good end to the over.

A loud appeal which is turned down by the umpire. The Aussies have reviewed it. No spike on the Ultra Edge. The ball tracking confirms that the ball is pitching outside leg stump. Yashasvi Jaiswal survives but a brilliant over by Aaron Hardie.

A huge appeal for LBW but it is turned down. The bowler, Aaron Hardie seems very confident and skipper Matthew Wade does opt for the review. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking shows that the ball is pitching outside leg. NOT OUT comes up on the big screen!

0.1 over (0 Run) Beauty! Aaron Hardie goes full just shaping on the inside. Yashasvi Jaiswal swings hard but is beaten by the swing. Good start by Hardie.

We are all set for the match to begin! The umpires are now out in the middle and the players of Australia are taking their places on the field. The Indian opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad also stride out to the middle. Aaron Hardie has been surprisingly handed the new ball and he is raring to go. Let’s play…

PITCH REPORT – Murali Kartik is pitchside. He is joined by Matthew Hayden who starts by saying that one needs to know how much is enough and the wicket is nice and hard with a layer of grass on it. Adds that the ground dimensions are 74 meters uniformly but still it is a solid wicket and dew will play a role. Kartik adds the dew will intensify at around 8 pm IST.

The Indian skipper, Suryakumar Yadav says they would have loved to bowl first but he doesn’t mind batting first. Says the wicket looks good and it is the first T20I being played here so he is excited. Informs that they have four changes in total.

Matthew Wade, the captain of Australia says that he will bowl first. Mentions that there are five changes in the squad due to the players going back to Australia. He adds that the selectors and the coaching staff helped him a lot in this series and ends by saying he looks forward to this match.

Australia (Playing XI) – Josh Philippe (In for Glenn Maxwell), Travis Head, Ben McDermott (In for Josh Inglis), Aaron Hardie, Tim David, Matthew Short (In for Marcus Stoinis), Matthew Wade (C/WK), Ben Dwarshuis (In for Kane Richardson), Chris Green (On debut) (In for Nathan Ellis), Jason Behrendorff, Tanveer Sangha.

India (Playing XI) – Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer (In for Ishan Kishan), Suryakumar Yadav (C), Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (In for Tilak Varma) (WK), Axar Patel, Deepak Chahar (In for Arshdeep Singh), Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar (In for Prasidh Krishna).

TOSS – Australia have won the toss and have elected to BOWL first.

Australia too have a new-look side, yet again, as Maxwell, Inglis and Stoinis have flown home and the likes of Ben McDermott, Ben Dwarshuis, Josh Philippe and Chris Green have been included in the squad. They have a bit of momentum with the win in the previous game but given the chopping and changing of the playing XI, we have seen some patchy cricket from the Aussies. However, Jason Behrendorff has stood head and shoulders above the rest and his bowling will once again be key for the touring side. Can Australia level the series? Or will the inexperience of not playing in sub-continental conditions cost them dearly? We shall find out. Toss and team news in a bit.

India have had a couple of additions to the side with the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar coming in and Mukesh Kumar also returning to the side after his marriage. But whether they come straight into the playing XI remains to be seen and if so, who does India bench? The batting, in general, has fired and they have put more than 200 runs on the board in all the previous three games. The key for Suryakumar Yadav and co will be to tighten up the bowling a bit and get that series-clinching third win.

Hello and a warm welcome to one and all! We are in Raipur for the fourth T20I between India and Australia. The hosts currently lead the five-match series 2-1, but the Aussies pulled off a remarkable run chase in the previous game thanks to some Glenn Maxwell magic and will look to convert the momentum into a series-levelling win.

TS PGECET likely to be scrapped from next academic year

The move is planned as demand for some ME/MTech programmes went down considerably over the past several years.

Hyderabad: Plans are afoot to scrap the Telangana State Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (TS PGECET) for some PG engineering and technology programmes starting next academic year. The move is planned as demand for some ME/MTech programmes including textile technology, aeronautical engineering, and metallurgical engineering, went down considerably over the past several years.

The TS PGECET 2023 was conducted for admissions into regular 19 PG courses in engineering, technology, architecture and pharmacy. However, except for CSE, ECE, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and MPharmacy, admissions in other programmes were not up to the mark.

While four students qualified in aeronautical engineering, none of them joined the programme which has 718 seats in 27 colleges. Similarly, none of the eight students who cracked the entrance test for textile technology took admission into the programme which has 18 seats. The metallurgy programme saw mere five enrollments as against 30 seats while only 20 out of 138 seats were filled in chemical engineering offered by three colleges.

If the entrance test is scrapped, admissions into programmes with less demand will be based on the merit secured by candidates in the qualifying examination and through a centralized process.

The TSCHE recently constituted a committee headed by JNTU-Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Prof. Katta Narasimha Reddy to come up with recommendations and eligibility criteria for admissions into PG engineering and technology programmes that have less demand among students.

There are plans to hold admissions into the two-year B.P.Ed and D.P.Ed programmes via an entrance test without the physical efficiency tests. A committee under the chairmanship of Palamuru University Vice Chancellor Prof. LB Laxmikant Rathod has been constituted to study and come up with modalities for admissions into physical education programmes.
