10 first-timers in the fray in erstwhile Warangal

A total of 10 new candidates are testing their luck as the MLA candidates into the political arena for the first time.

Warangal: As the political landscape in the erstwhile Warangal district heats up ahead of the forthcoming elections, candidates from major political parties are jockeying for a position in the race that promises to be highly competitive and diverse. Three prominent political parties – BRS, Congress, and BJP- have set the stage for an exciting electoral showdown.

A total of 10 new candidates are testing their luck as the MLA candidates into the political arena for the first time. While the ruling BRS has already declared candidates for 12 seats, the BJP is expected to announce its candidates for the Parkal and Narsampet seats, and the Congress is yet to declare its candidate for the Dornakal Assembly segment. At present, a total of 33 candidates from the three major parties are actively campaigning, with three more candidates set to be announced soon.

Out of the ten new faces, four belong to the Congress, four to the BJP, and two to the BRS, displaying the parties’ efforts to maintain a balanced representation. Of these, Naini Rajender Reddy from Warangal West , KR Nagaraju, a former IPS officer, from Wardhannapet , M Yashaswini Reddy, an NRI, from Palakurthy and Dr Muralinaik from Mahabubabad got a chance from the Congress.

The BJP’s new MLA candidates are Arutla Dashamantha Reddy from Jangaon, R Padma Reddy from Warangal West, Lega Rammohan Reddy from Palakurthy and Bhukya Sangeetha from Dornakal. The two who got a chance from the BRS are Bade Nagajyoti, who is the Mulgu ZP chairperson, from Mulugu and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy from Jangaon.

Meanwhile, diversity is evident in terms of caste and gender among the candidates. Out of the 33 announced candidates, 16 are from upper castes, while three are from the BC category, six belong to SCs, and seven represent STs. Additionally, eight women have secured nominations.

In a breakdown of candidates based on their castes and party affiliations, the Congress has nominated one SC candidate, three ST candidates, one BC candidate, and three upper caste candidates.

The BJP, on the other hand, has fielded five upper caste candidates, two SC candidates, and two ST candidates. Meanwhile, the BRS has positioned five upper caste candidates, two BC candidates, two SC candidates, and three ST candidates.

Hamas' Al-Aqsa Storm ushers in new era for region

Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri made the remarks in a ceremony in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Wednesday to commemorate the martyrdom of thousands of innocent Palestinians, including women and children, on the 26th day of the large-scale Hamas-led operation against the occupied territories in response to the illegal entity’s decades-long crimes in Palestine.

“The valiant, surprising and unparalleled defense of Palestinian combatants in Operation Al-Aqsa Storm will be the harbinger of a new chapter for Palestine, the region and the Islamic world,” General Bagheri said.

“The operation showed that all the notions that the Zionists and their masters had concocted were absurd and meaningless, and all their false delusion of grandeur fell into pieces with this flawless and precise operation,” he added.

Underlining that the Israeli regime’s disgraceful defeat cannot be repaired and compensated, the top Iranian general said the bombing of innocent people, women, children and the elderly is not and will not be a sign of might and victory for the Zionist regime.

“The enemy, who is unable to face confrontation on the battlefield, kills innocent and defenseless people in hospitals, ambulances and houses with planes donated by criminals,” Bagheri said.

“This is the reality of the United States, Europe and global arrogance, which have displayed the apex of brutality before the eyes of the world,” he added. “Most of the people in the world have shouted for a ceasefire, but the criminal US says a truce, at the present time, suggests the defeat of Israel.”

The chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces echoed earlier remarks by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and said holding a referendum with the presence of all the Palestinian people, both Muslims and non-Muslims, was the sole way to resolve the decades-long conflict.

“There is no fate and end in sight for this battle except the victory of Palestinians, today, all the people across the world are crying out for an end to these crimes and demand relief aid to the people in Gaza,” Bagheri said.

“Should the neighboring countries of Palestine allow people to pass, millions of freedom-seekers of the world will show up at the borders of this holy land to help Palestine,” he added.

Affirming that the future of Palestine is quite clear, the Iranian general said, “The future belongs to the Palestinian people and the aggressors and foreign immigrants must leave this land and they have no choice but to do so.”

"Give Credit To Government, Not Your Parties": Nitish Kumar To Ministers

'Give Credit To Government, Not Your Parties': Nitish Kumar To Ministers

Mr Kumar was speaking at an event during which he unveiled power projects worth nearly Rs 14,000 crore.

Patna:

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday voiced disapproval of members of his cabinet using achievements of the government to bolster the image of their respective parties.

The leader from the seven-party Mahagathbandhan made the remarks at a function during which he unveiled electricity projects worth nearly Rs 14,000 crore on the occasion of the 11th foundation day of Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited.

The function was attended, among others, by Power Minister Bijendra Yadav who belongs to the chief minister’s Janata Dal (United) and Alok Mehta, a top leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal who holds the key Revenue and Land Reforms portfolio.

Without pointing towards anyone in particular, Mr Kumar said, “I notice that many of my ministers, in their bid to grab headlines, end up giving credit for the government’s good work to their own parties. This is not appropriate.”

“Whenever I mention any good work done in Bihar I do not speak of it as my personal achievement. Similarly, all the ministers should take care to remember that they must give credit to the government as a whole and not reserve their praise for their parties,” he said.

Apart from the JD(U) and RJD, the state cabinet has a couple of ministers from the Congress. Mr Kumar had joined the multi-party coalition last year, snapping his partnership with the BJP.

The opposition often claims that the Mahagathbandhan suffers from a lack of adequate trust among constituents, pointing out that ministers from the JD(U) and RJD sing paeans only to Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, respectively.

In his speech, Mr Kumar also showered effusive praise on Bijendra Yadav, his seniormost minister, who has held the power portfolio for close to two decades.

“He said in his speech that having served for close to 20 years, he is unsure of how long he is going to continue. Let me declare that he will work for us as long as I am in command. If he declines, I will give up everything and run away,” the chief minister said.

“Just look at the improvement in the power situation under his watch. It used to be pathetic even in Patna. I used to receive complaints from my in-laws that they got only eight hours of electricity in a day. He changed it all,” he added.

Yemen to increase attacks on Zionists to stop their crimes

In an interview with Mehr News Agency, Ibrahim al-Dulaimi, the Yemeni ambassador to Iran explained the actions of the Yemeni armed forces on Tuesday in the military response to the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians, saying, ” The army of the Republic of Yemen and Yemeni nation launched a military response to the crimes and aggressions of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians”.

He added that the aim of this attack, which was launched at the request of the Yemeni nation is to stop the aggression of the Zionist regime against the Palestinians and the residents of Gaza.

The Yemeni ambassador emphasized, “We have several strategies for the liberation of Palestine and stopping the crimes of the Zionist regime.”

Describing Yemen’s message to other Islamic countries, al-Dulaimi clarified ” Our message to Muslim countries is that we all must stand together behind the Palestinian nation and support them.”

Even if Islamic countries cannot enter the military battlefield, they should stop selling oil to the Zionist regime and boycott buying Zionist and American products, he said.

He stressed that as it was announced from the beginning of the aggression of the Zionist regime to Gaza, Yemen keeps supporting the Palestinians, adding that Yemen’s military attacks on the Zionists will increase until the crimes of this barbaric coalition in Gaza stop.

On Tuesday, The Yemeni armed forces confirmed media reports about their attack on positions of the Zionist Israeli regime amid its aggression on the Gaza Strip, vowing to continue their missile and drone attacks.

The Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman clarified that the Yemeni Sana’a government has done three operations in solidarity with and support for the Palestinian people in Gaza so far over the past three weeks, underscoring commitment to the Palestine cause.

Senior UN official resigns over failure to stop Gaza genocide

“Once again, we are seeing a genocide unfolding before our eyes, and the Organization that we serve appears powerless to stop it,” Craig Mokhiber said in a letter to UN High Commissioner on Human Rights Volker Turk, published on Tuesday.

Instead of doing its job, the UN has “surrendered to the power of the US” and given in to the “Zionist lobby,” while the “European, ethno-nationalist, settler colonial project in Palestine has entered its final phase,” the senior official claimed.

The official squarely described the ongoing Zionist action in the Gaza Strip as “genocide,” acknowledging that this word “has often been subject to political abuse,” Russia Today (RT) reported.

The governments of the US, the UK, and “much of Europe are wholly complicit in the horrific assault,” not only through a mere failure to fulfill their international obligations but by “actively arming the assault, providing economic and intelligence support, and giving political and diplomatic cover for Zionist’s atrocities,” Mokhiber stated.

The “cover” is further reinforced by “Western corporate media, increasingly captured and state-adjacent,” which has been “continuously dehumanizing Palestinians to facilitate the genocide, and broadcasting propaganda for war and advocacy of national, racial, or religious hatred,” he stressed.

Mokhiber believes the UN used to have “principles” and “authority” rooted in the body’s “integrity,” such as during apartheid in South Africa, but it has lost all of the above over the years. The UN has repeatedly failed to stop genocides, Mokhiber noted, listing events in Rwanda and Bosnia, the genocide of the Yazidis by the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), and the Rohingya in Myanmar as examples.

“In recent decades, key parts of the UN have surrendered to the power of the US and to the fear of the Zionist Lobby, to abandon these principles, and to retreat from international law itself. We have lost a lot in this abandonment, not least our own global credibility. But the Palestinian people have sustained the biggest losses as a result of our failures,” he stated.

To fix the situation, the UN should “learn from the principled stance taken in cities around the world in recent days as masses of people stand up against the genocide, even at risk of beatings and arrest,” he suggested.

Apart from that, he called upon the body to drop the “illusory two-state solution,” advocating the creation of a “single, democratic, secular state in all of historic Palestine,” which would ensure the “dismantling” of Israeli regime, described by the official as a “deeply racist, settler-colonial project.”

After Narayana Murthy’s “70-hours-a-week” formula, Infosys asks employees to return to office

Hyderabad: Indian software-services exporter Infosys Ltd has asked some of its employees to return to work from office 10 days a month. According to reports, some entry to mid-level employees were asked to return to work from office for a minimum number of days from November 20.

The move comes as part of the company’s efforts to strengthen its hybrid work model, at a time when companies across the globe are reversing or modifying their remote working policies.

The call to return to work for a minimum number of days comes after co-founder Narayana Murthy’s proposed formula of Indian youth working for 70-hours-a-week stirred a controversy. The billionaire’s remarks came in an interview posted on YouTube.

Surprisingly, his comments also clashed with the company’s official stance on “complete flexibility” for its employees.

Indian IT services providers are now following their global tech rivals and asking their employees to return to work from offices. Infosys’ rival company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already asked its employees to return to offices five days a week.

Hyderabad: The past is coming back to haunt TPCC president A Revanth Reddy, whose comments on Osmania University students made to a vernacular news channel a few years ago, are now going viral, drawing criticism with many finding fault with the Congress leader’s foul language, besides questioning the commitment of the Congress towards the student community.

It was during an interview with the news channel that the TPCC president made objectionable comments against the university students. When the anchor asked the TPCC president as to why the Osmania University students were against Rahul Gandhi’s visit, he had replied there was no such objection or discord.

“After taking money from the BRS, the students might have had alcohol and biryani. Unable to digest it, they raised slogans against Congress. They are like daily wage workers and lack ideology or thought process. They lack respect towards Telangana,” Revanth Reddy is heard saying in the video, which is now being shared widely across social media platforms.

Raising objection to the Congress leader’s language, Reynolds Das Kuntam said on X (formerly Twitter): “As public representative, your disrespectful language against the students is condemnable. You are causing harm to the Congress party.”

Another X user, Aristotle said: “This time, he will come to his senses after December 3…”
