India vs SL, World Cup 2023: Fantasy XI Prediction, Top Captaincy Pick

India and Sri Lanka are set to take on each other in match No. 33 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday, November 2. The match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. While the two teams take each other on the playing field, the fantasy cricket managers have a chance to pick their favourite players and form their teams. The performance of the players on the field will translate to points for each fantasy team picked, and the manager with the team with the most points stands a chance to win attractive prizes. (World Cup 2023 points table)

India are unbeaten in the tournament so far with six wins on the trot. After a commanding performance against Australia in their opening match, India went on to beat Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand and England in the group matches, strengthening their position on top of the table. A terrific batting show from Rohit Sharma (87 off 101 balls) followed by a brilliant spell from Mohammed Shami (4/22) helped India beat England by 100 runs in their last match.

Sri Lanka are in the second half of the table currently with only two wins in four matches. Their only wins came against Netherlands and England, but a defeat to Afghanistan in their last match jeopardised their chances of reaching the semi-finals.

Sri Lanka batted first and were bowled out for 241 runs in 49.3 overs. Afghanistan chased down the 242-run target with ease powered by half-centuries from Rahmat Shah and Azmatullah Omarzai and the 1996 champions now need to win all of their matches to stand a chance.

Probable playing XIs

India: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj

Weather conditions and pitch report

The wicket at the Wankhede Stadium offers great assistance to the batting unit and a flat deck is expected for this clash. The ground dimensions are not very big as well, which will be a cause of trouble for the bowlers. The average score batting first at this venue is 342 and India have a decent record at this venue, winning 11 out of 20 matches.

The weather conditions will challenge the players in the afternoon, but it will settle as the day progresses. The temperatures in Mumbai are expected to range between 19 degrees to 32 degrees.

It was the second time this week that Hezbollah downed a Zionist drone with a surface-to-air missile, with cross-border clashes escalating as the Israeli regime wages a ground incursion in Gaza, Reuters reported.

"The Irony Is That…": Musk After Tesla Wins Trial Involving Fatal Crash

'The Irony Is That...': Elon Musk After Tesla Wins Autopilot Trial Involving Fatal Crash

Tesla argued that human error caused the crash.

Tesla on Tuesday was cleared by a court in the 2019 fatal Model 3 crash that took place in Los Angeles, US, involving its advanced driver-assistance system, Autopilot. The case was filed by two passengers who accused the company of knowing Autopilot was defective when it sold the car. Tesla, on the other hand, argued that human error caused the crash. The court too found that the vehicle did not have a manufacturing defect. Now, Tesla chief Elon Musk also reacted to the news and expressed his belief that if Autopilot had been activated, the driver would likely have been saved.

“The irony is that if Autopilot had been turned on here, it would almost certainly have saved the driver,” Mr Musk wrote in on X (formerly Twitter).

Micah Lee was killed in 2019 after their Model 3 veered off a highway, hit a tree, and caught fire. While Mr Lee was killed in the incident, his two passengers were injured. The two passengers then approached the court alleging that Autopilot caused the accident and demanded over $400 million in punitive damages. This trial was the first in the United States that alleged that Tesla’s autopilot feature led to death.

Tesla, however, denied liability alleging that Mr Lee had consumed alcohol and that it was unclear if Autopilot was engaged during the crash. The Jury in Riverside County Superior Court also voted in favour of Mr Musk’s company, saying that the vehicle did not have a manufacturing defect.

This is a major victory for Tesla as it faces several other similar lawsuits across the country. But the automaker continues to test and roll out its Autopilot and more advanced Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which Mr Musk has touted as crucial to his company’s future.

Notably, the latest verdict represents Tesla’s second big win this year. The automaker won an earlier trial in Los Angeles in April with a strategy of saying that it tells drivers that its technology requires human monitoring, despite the “Autopilot” and “Full Self-Driving” names. The case was about an accident where a Model S swerved into the curb and injured its driver.

Samajwadi Party Hints At Contesting On 65 Of 80 UP Lok Sabha Seats In 2024

Samajwadi Party Hints At Contesting On 65 Of 80 UP Lok Sabha Seats In 2024

This election will decide the future of coming generations, said Akhilesh Yadav. (FILE)

Lucknow:

The Samajwadi Party on Wednesday indicated that it will contest on 65 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in 2024.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, who attended a meeting of the party’s state executive committee in Lucknow, called upon party workers to make full preparations to remove the BJP from power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“This election will decide the future of coming generations. It will be the last election to save democracy and the Constitution. Party workers should make full preparations to remove the BJP from power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” Mr Yadav was quoted as having told the state executive meet at the party headquarters.

The Samajwadi Party, which is the main constituent of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) of opposition parties, also indicated that it will contest on 65 seats leaving the remaining to its allies.

SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary, while confirming that the party president has given indications of the party contesting on 65 seats, said that he has asked for making preparations for all the 80 seats.

“Yadav has asked party workers to remain vigilant at the booth level to prevent the BJP from coming to power,” Mr Chaudhary told PTI.

Asked whether the Samajwadi Party will be a part of the INDIA bloc in the parliamentary elections amid the strained relations between it and the Congress over seat sharing for the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls, Mr Chaudhary said, “There is an alliance for the Lok Sabha elections, that is certain.” According to party spokesman Faqrul Hasan Chand, Yadav told the party cadre that the SP is the biggest party in the state and had got 35 per cent vote share in the recent assembly elections and is also a part of the INDIA alliance. Therefore, the SP will contest on 65 of the 80 seats while leaving the rest for its allies.

During the last Lok Sabha elections, the SP, which had entered into an alliance with the BSP, also left three seats for the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). The RLD had contested the recent assembly elections with the SP and is still a part of the SP-led alliance.

Just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the SP and the BSP had cobbled together an alliance in which the BSP contested 38 seats and the SP 37.

The alliance had left two seats for the Congress — Rae Bareli and Amethi — and did not field their candidates there.

In his address, Mr Yadav cautioned the BJP government will try to influence the elections by misusing the administration.

Stressing that his party will expose the anti-people policies of the BJP, he said the Samajwadi Party is not afraid of BJP’s conspiracies and malicious actions.

“People are looking at the Samajwadi Party as an alternative. BJP is implicating Samajwadi Party workers in false cases. The public is watching everything, they will remove BJP from power in 2024,” he said.

The Samajwadi Party has been fighting for social justice for a long time and the conduct of a caste census is very important to take this fight forward, he said.

Only through this census will everyone get their rights and respect, he said, adding that the BJP was against holding a caste census.

The release said that in the state executive meeting of Samajwadi Party Uttar Pradesh, the political situation of the state, party organization and election strategy were discussed.
