Plan B In Place If Arvind Kejriwal Is Arrested? What Delhi Minister Said

Plan B In Place If Arvind Kejriwal Is Arrested? What Delhi Minister Said

New Delhi:

Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has said the denial of bail to Manish Sisodia and the subsequent Enforcement Directorate summons to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning, are just ploys to “punish AAP politically”.

“This is so that they can get rid of AAP politically,” he told NDTV in an exclusive interview today.

Asked if the party has a Plan B in case of Mr Kejriwal’s arrest, he said, “As of now, I don’t know and I don’t think there’s any discussion about it. Kejriwal is our leader and we will work under his direction”.

The Supreme Court order, he admitted, was a jolt for the party, “but in a way, it destroys the allegations of the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation”.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court rejected the bail plea of Mr Sisodia, Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister, who is the prime accused in the alleged liquor scam.

A money trail of Rs 338 crore has been tentatively established in the case, said the judges, who earlier insisted that a chain of evidence must be established.

In a 41-page order, the court accepted the CBI argument that there is a “carefully hatched conspiracy” to ensure that a select few make windfall gains. The policy “facilitated getting bribes” from wholesale distributors who are “assured of exorbitant profits”.

Hours later, Mr Kejriwal was summoned for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate, which is probing the alleged money laundering angle in the liquor scam. He has been asked to present himself at the Delhi office of the Central agency on November 2.

The questioning of Mr Kejriwal was very much expected, Mr Bhardwaj said. “Two days back Manoj Tiwari said in an interview to ANI that next in line is Arvind Kejriwal and he will be arrested. I wonder how Manoj Tiwari knew that Kejriwal will be summoned? It makes me believe it is political script,” he added.

Harish Rao asks party cadre to work for Prabhakar Reddy’s victory in Dubbaka

Siddipet BRS cadre should consider the party victory in Dubbaka equally important as his victory in Siddipet, said Harish Rao

Harish Rao asks party cadre to work for Prabhakar Reddy’s victory in Dubbaka

Siddipet Police are checking the vehicle of Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday.

Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has called upon the BRS leaders of Siddipet Constituency to take the responsibility party victory in Dubbaka assembly segment on their shoulders since the BRS candidate for Dubbaka and Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was hospitalised following the attack on him.

During a meeting with the BRS Party Siddipet constituency cadre in Siddipet on Tuesday evening, Rao said that the Siddipet BRS cadre should consider the party victory in Dubbaka equally important as his victory in Siddipet. Since doctors have performed surgery on Prabhakar Reddy, he needs to stay in the hospital for a few more days which would keep him away from the election campaign for a considerable time. Rao asked them to talk to their friends and relatives in the neighbouring Dubbaka Constituency to muster support for Prabhakar Reddy.

The Minister released a booklet on Siddipet development in the past 10 years. Earlier, the Siddipet Police checked the vehicle of Harish Rao while he was going to Siddipet from Hyderabad near Siddipet town.

Japan announces sanctions on Hamas-related individuals

Japan’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday the measures would freeze assets belonging to individuals and a company that was “involved in fundraising for Hamas.”

The nine individuals have been identified as nationals of Palestine, Sudan, Egypt, and Jordan, as reported by Tokyo-based Kyodo News.

Tokyo’s imposition of sanctions comes in response to the United States, Israel’s main ally, announcement of similar measures last month.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to intensified Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Since the start of its aggression, Israel has killed at least 8,306 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured some 21,048 others in the besieged Gaza.

The Tel Aviv regime has imposed a complete siege on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio has condemned Hamas’s operation and called for the immediate release of the captives held by Hamas, but stopped short of denouncing Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Japan has tried to take a fine line on the Israeli war on Gaza by only expressing concern regarding the loss of civilian lives and the worsening humanitarian conditions within the enclave.

Last week, Japanese officials called on Israel to halt its offensive in Gaza in order to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the blockaded territory.

On Friday, Tokyo refrained from casting a vote on a United Nations resolution that urged for an urgent humanitarian ceasefire.

Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Kamikawa Yoko, said that her country had chosen to refrain from voting in favor of the resolution due to its failure to condemn the Palestinian resistance movement.

The non-binding resolution, proposed by Jordan, received overwhelming support with 120 votes in favor, while the United States and its allies voted against it.

Japan is struggling to engage in pro-US diplomacy in the Middle East as it is making final arrangements for Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa to visit Israel in early November.
