Palestinians to keep up fight until occupiers’ full expulsion

“Palestinians will continue their anti-occupation efforts throughout the West Bank, and confront the Tel Aviv regime’s crimes, especially in the holy city of al-Quds and the al-Aqsa Mosque compound,” the statement said.

It underscored that the long-term battle against the Zionist enemy will finally result in the expulsion of occupiers, the liberation of occupied lands, and the restoration of Palestinians’ freedom.

The statement came after a deadly Israeli regime’s military raid on a refugee camp in the southern part of the West Bank on Saturday resulting in the death of a Palestinian teenager.

The 16-year-old Milad Munther Al-Ra’i, was shot dead by Zionist forces as they stormed al-Arroub refugee camp.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said Ra’i was shot in the back and chest during confrontations in the camp.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing local sources, reported that the Israeli regime’s troops fired live ammunition and toxic tear gas canisters at a group of young people and children during the raid.

Israeli regime’s forces launch raids on various cities of the West Bank almost on a daily basis under the pretext of detaining what the regime calls “wanted” Palestinians. The raids usually lead to violent confrontations with residents.

More than 200 Palestinians have been killed this year in the occupied Palestinian territories and Gaza. The majority of these fatalities have been recorded in the West Bank.

Those figures indicate that 2023 is already the deadliest year for Palestinians in the West Bank since the United Nations began keeping track of fatalities in 2005.

Previously, 2022 had been the deadliest year with 150 Palestinians killed, of whom 33 were minors, according to the United Nations.

Mousa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Hamas political bureau also warned of potential threats against the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, terming the unfolding developments as “dangerous.”

“Resistance remains the first option in order to defend the sacred site,” he said, calling on Muslim nations to support Aqsa Mosque and take action in its defense.

“The responsibility to protect and defend the al-Aqsa Mosque compound rests with all Muslims,” he said.

The senior Hamas official also underlined the need for unity among Palestinians both at political and executive levels in order to overcome ongoing challenges.

“We extend our hand to all factions, including the Fatah movement, to rearrange the Palestinian sphere on the basis of partnership and draw up a national resistance program, which would preserve the privacy of each Palestinian group and ensure the expulsion of settlers from the West Bank as a common goal,” Abu Marzouk said.

He called on the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority to only listen to the demands of Palestinians, express their positions, and stop advancing the agendas of the United States and the Israeli regime.

Countries welcome Iran-proposed fund to tackle dust storms

Addressing the two-day conference which wrapped on Sunday in Tehran, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi on Saturday called on countries in the region to create “a fund” to pursue common solutions.

“Since yesterday, during the speeches delivered by the representatives of different countries, the issue of mobilizing the financial resources of the countries for the protection of the environment has been emphasized, and there were also many speeches about the necessity of using shared experiences,” Beirgani added.

He, who is also the advisor to the head of the Department of Environment Ali Salajegheh further said, “All the participants in this meeting acknowledged that no government can deal with climate change and dust and sand storms on their own, so international cooperation should definitely be taken more seriously.”

Tahmasebi Beirgani pointed out, “In these two days, the support for international funds and joint action was emphasized. It is also necessary for countries to benefit from early alert systems. Of course, some countries have benefited from this equipment, but some countries do not have these systems yet.”

US forces loot more oil from Syria

Local sources in Al-Yaarubiyah, to the north-eastern side of the country, said that the US occupation forces brought out a convoy of vehicles to Iraqi territory via the illegal Mahmoudiyah crossing, including 40 tankers loaded with Syrian oil stolen from al-Jazeera fields, SANA reported.

The sources added that the occupation troops brought out a convoy of 55 tankers loaded with stolen oil and transported it through the illegitimate al- Mahmoudiyah crossing.

The US military has for long stationed its forces and equipment in northeastern Syria, with the Pentagon claiming that the deployment is aimed at preventing the oilfields in the area from falling into the hands of ISIL terrorists.

Damascus, however, maintains the deployment is meant to plunder the country’s natural resources. Former US president Donald Trump admitted on several occasions that American forces were in the Arab country for its oil wealth.

Several countries, including Russia and China, have condemned US actions in plundering the Syrian resources and have called on Washington to stop its continued looting of the war-torn country’s natural resources.

Iraq former PM al-Kadhimi likely to be arrested: source

Iraqi sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the Iraqi judiciary is investigating new corruption charges linked to the government of former Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, and it is likely that they will end with the issuance of new arrest and summons orders during the coming period.

According to the sources, these orders may not exclude Al-Kadhimi himself, who has been outside Iraq since he handed over power to the current Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani last October.

Former Iraqi president Mustafa al-Kadhimi has left the country and lives in London now.

Iraq’s judiciary issued arrest warrants at the beginning of March for four men, including a former finance minister and staff members of former prime minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, who Baghdad says all live outside the country, according to France 24.

The case, which has been dubbed “the heist of the century”, sparked outrage in Iraq.

At least $2.5 billion was stolen between September 2021 and August 2022 through 247 cheques that were cashed by five companies.

Kadhimi has previously defended his record on fighting corruption, saying his government had discovered the case, launched an investigation, and taken legal action.

The country’s current Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani has vowed to crack down on corruption since his appointment in late October.
