Iranian forces chased away US troops on high seas

“Without personnel and equipment, we approached the core of the Great Satan at the depth of the oceans and drove them away and cheered the name of Iran with authority,” Irani said during Friday prayers in Tehran.

He also noted that the popular Islamic Republic of Iran Army has an effective presence worldwide relying on its high knowledge and capabilities.

Meanwhile, he referred to Operation Morvarid (Pearl) in November 1980, which resulted in a decisive victory for the Iranian Navy during the Iraqi-imposed war.

The operation, he added, permanently maintained Iran’s authority in the Persian Gulf.

November 27 marks the Iranian Navy Day in remembrance of the bravery of the Iranian naval forces in the face of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

In another address to mark the day in Mashhad on Friday, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the Iranian Army for coordination, stressed Iran’s capabilities to build its required naval equipment.

“We currently have the capability to build destroyers, missile-armed ships, and submarines within the country, and all existing equipment, weapons, and smart munitions in this field are domestically produced,” he said, adding, “All naval equipment is indigenous, and we are at the cutting edge of maritime technology.”

Pointing to the Navy’s efforts to maintain security in international waters, he said that the Navy forces have ensured the security of maritime exchanges and have protected over 6,000 ships from pirates.

In recent years, Iran’s Navy has achieved self-sufficiency in manufacturing surface and sub-surface vessels. It has also increased its presence in international waters to protect naval routes and provide security for merchant vessels and tankers.

The Iranian naval forces have also staged military drills with different countries to promote their combat readiness.

They have also been involved in joint efforts aimed at countering piracy and maritime terrorism, exchanging information in naval rescue and relief operations as well as sharing operational and tactical experience to enhance the security and stability of international maritime trade.

Netanyahu lists three main reasons for Israel’s ceasefire deal with Hezbollah in Lebanon

Benjamin Netanyahu

Tel Aviv: As the Israeli security cabinet voted in favour of a ceasefire deal to end the fighting with the militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement on Tuesday that there are three “main reasons” he wants a truce now. an Israeli official told the media.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement on Tuesday that there are three “main reasons” he wants a ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon now.

“With the United States’ full understanding, we maintain full freedom of military action. If Hezbollah violates the agreement and tries to arm itself, we will attack. If it tries to rebuild terrorist infrastructure near the border, we will attack. If it launches a rocket, if it digs a tunnel, if it brings in a truck carrying rockets, we will attack”, Netanyahu noted.

“The first reason is to focus on the Iranian threat, and I won’t expand on that. The second reason is to give our forces a breather and replenish stocks. And I say it openly, it is no secret that there have been big delays in weapons and munitions deliveries. These delays will be resolved soon. We will receive supplies of advanced weaponry that will keep our soldiers safe and give us more strike force to complete our mission. And the third reason for having a ceasefire is to separate the fronts and isolate Hamas. From day two of the war, Hamas was counting on Hezbollah to fight by its side. With Hezbollah out of the picture, Hamas is left on its own. We will increase our pressure on Hamas and that will help us in our sacred mission of releasing our hostages,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli PM’s speech was released after an Israeli official told CNN the security cabinet had approved a ceasefire deal. Netanyahu also said the duration of a ceasefire would ‘depend on what happens in Lebanon.’

He added that Israel would resume attacks if Hezbollah violated the agreement by rearming, digging tunnels, launching rockets, or rebuilding its infrastructure near the Israeli border. “With the United States’ full understanding, we maintain full freedom of military action,” he said.

Israel and Lebanon have been engaged in a prolonged conflict that began on October 8 last year, when Hezbollah attacked Israeli-controlled territory in solidarity with Hamas and Palestinians in Gaza, as reported by CNN.

This incident sparked a series of tit-for-tat border attacks, which eventually escalated into a major military offensive launched by Israel in mid-September.

The conflict has seen a ground invasion by Israel, resulting in the deaths of several Hezbollah leaders, including one of its founders, Hassan Nasrallah, and thousands of injuries from an attack involving exploding pagers. The situation remains volatile, with ongoing efforts to negotiate a ceasefire.

Iran calls for removal of Israel from UN women’s commission

Senior Iranian legal official Kazem Gharibabadi has called on the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) to remove Israel from the global body over its bloody war and heinous crimes against women and girls in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

Gharibabadi, who is Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, made the appeal in four identical letters addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the UN Economic and Social Council Bob Rae, Chair of the UN Commission on the Status of Women Abdulaziz M. Alwasil, and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk.

“The presence of the criminal Zionist regime, which as per international human rights authorities, independent UN experts and independent human rights activists has turned Gaza into a slaughterhouse for civilians, particularly women and children, in the UN Commission on the Status of Women, whose nature is to promote the rights of women and girls and to prevent violence and discrimination against them, is an end to the credibility of international institutions and expectations of their efficacy during crises and humanitarian threats,” Gharibabadi wrote.

He drew attention to the published statistics about the scale and dimensions of the Zionist regime’s vicious crimes against civilians, especially women and children, in Gaza and Lebanon, wondering how such a major violator of human rights could remain in an international body that monitors, supports, and promotes the rights of women and girls.

More than 44,000 people have been killed and over 104,000 others injured in Gaza, and as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights said in its report on November 8, nearly 70% of the fatalities are women and children, and about 80% of the victims died during attacks on residential buildings and similar structures, Gharibabadi pointed out.

“The child-killing Zionist regime kills a child in Gaza every 10 minutes. More than 17,000 Palestinian children have been so far martyred as a result of this brutal massacre, and more than 255,000 Palestinian children in Gaza have lost their fathers or mothers.

“Furthermore, hundreds of babies have lost their lives shortly after birth due to the indiscriminate bombardment of residential areas, hospitals, schools, internally displaced persons (IDPs) tent camps, and destruction of healthcare facilities,” the Iranian diplomat said.

Gharibabadi went on to point to the dire situation of Lebanese women, especially pregnant women, as a result of Israeli aggression and bombardment of residential buildings, noting that displacement and damage caused by intensive bombings have increased the cases of miscarriages, premature births and stillbirths, and significantly raised the risk of maternal deaths.

“It is no longer a secret to anyone that the Zionist regime has violated the fundamental rules of international law, the United Nations Charter, international human rights and international humanitarian rights in Gaza and Lebanon on a very large scale,” the senior Iranian legal official stated.

“It has perpetrated war crimes, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing, racial profiling as well as genocide, grossly violated the four Geneva Conventions regarding the killing of women and girls, and has caused a lot of suffering for vulnerable people in Gaza and Lebanon in light of the US and certain Western governments’ support.”

Gharibabadi added that the Israeli regime has also committed a full-blown violation of the support mechanisms related to peacekeeping forces and UN institutions, banned the activities of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), killed hundreds of UN employees in Gaza, carried out attacks on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, tore up a copy of the UN Charter at the General Assembly, declared the United Nations chief persona non grata, and flagrantly disregarded the interim rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“It is absolutely clear that the Zionist regime, given its horrendous inhumane crimes, particularly against women and children, should never be allowed the possibility and permission to have a seat in or rejoin human rights institutions, including the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women,” Gharibabadi underlined.

US to not stop Russia from accomplishing special op. goals

“I have the impression that life hasn’t taught any lessons to decision-makers in the White House, and they use all the opportunities that remain even for ‘lame ducks’ to harm us and prevent us from accomplishing the goals of the special military operation. But they will not succeed,” Sergey Ryabkov told TASS.

The diplomat was responding to a request to comment on news reports that US President Joe Biden had asked Congress for an additional $24 billion in aid for Ukraine.

“First we need to study what really happened and how much and for what purposes was requested. All this causes indignation and rejection on our part,” the diplomat said.

Politico earlier reported that US lawmakers on November 25 received a request from Biden to allocate $24 billion for Ukraine. According to the report, Washington wants to use $16 billion of that money to replenish the US stockpiles of weapons that were previously sent to Kiev. Another $8 billion would fund the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which allows the US Department of Defense to conclude contracts with manufacturers, rather than drawing down equipment and weapons from inventories.

Trump transition says Cabinet picks, appointees were targeted by bomb threats, swatting attacks

Trump transition says Cabinet picks, appointees were targeted by bomb threats, swatting attacks

New York: Several of President-elect Donald Trump ‘s Cabinet picks and appointees have been targeted by bomb threats and “swatting attacks,” Trump’s transition said Wednesday.

“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them,” Trump transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

She said the attacks “ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting.’ In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action.”Swatting entails generating an emergency law enforcement response against a target victim under false pretenses.

The FBI said in a statement that it is “aware of numerous bomb threats and swatting incidents targeting incoming administration nominees and appointees, and we are working with our law enforcement partners. We take all potential threats seriously, and as always, encourage members of the public to immediately report anything they consider suspicious to law enforcement.”Among those targeted was New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, Trump’s pick to serve as the next ambassador to the United Nations.

Her office said that, Wednesday morning, she, her husband, and their 3-year-old son were driving home from Washington for Thanksgiving when they were informed of a bomb threat to their residence in Saratoga County.

“New York State, County law enforcement, and U.S. Capitol Police responded immediately with the highest levels of professionalism,” her office said in a statement. “We are incredibly appreciative of the extraordinary dedication of law enforcement officers who keep our communities safe 24/7.

“In Florida, meanwhile, the Okaloosa County sheriff’s office said in an advisory posted on Facebook that it “received notification of a bomb threat referencing former Congressman Matt Gaetz’s supposed mailbox at a home in the Niceville area around 9 a.m. this morning.”

While a family member resides at the address, they said “former Congressman Gaetz is NOT a resident. “The mailbox however was cleared and no devices were located. The immediate area was also searched with negative results.”

Gaetz was Trump’s initial pick to serve as attorney general, but he withdrew from consideration amid allegations that he paid women for sex and slept with underage women. Gaetz has vehemently denied any wrongdoing and said last year that a Justice Department investigation into sex trafficking allegations involving underage girls had ended with no federal charges against him.

The threats follow a political campaign marked by unusual violence. In July, a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, grazing the then-candidate in the ear with a bullet and killing one of his supporters. The U.S. Secret Service later thwarted a subsequent assassination attempt at Trump’s West Palm Beach, Florida, golf course when an agent spotted the barrel of a gun poking through a perimeter fence while Trump was golfing.

Iran dismisses claims of violating Chemical Weapons Convention

Iran’s permanent mission to the UN has roundly dismissed allegations that Tehran has violated the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), stressing that the Islamic Republic is itself a main victim of such munitions.

In a statement published on its official X account late on Thursday night, the mission described Iran as a victim of the chemical weapons that Western governments provided former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein with during its 1980s imposed war, emphasizing that the country stands fully committed to the CWC.

It added that not a single instance of Iranian violation of the treaty has been recorded over the past several decades.

“The current unfounded reports are merely an outgrowth of psychological warfare propagated by the Zionist regime in the wake of its recent defeat on the Lebanese front,” the statement read.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), citing a November 26 report by the Institute for Science and International Security, alleged that Iran had been focusing on how to produce and deliver pharmaceutical-based chemical agents (PBAs) for use in military attacks.

The allegations come as the impacts of chemical attacks against Iranian civilians still can be felt among the affected. During the 1980-88 war, the Iraqi army continuously employed chemical weapons against Iranian combatants and civilians, leaving tens of thousands dead on the spot and many more suffering for years to come.

These attacks included the use of mustard gas and other chemical agents, provided by Western governments for former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s regime.

One of the most notable chemical attacks occurred in the Iranian city of Sardasht, a small city in Iran’s West Azarbaijan Province. The attack killed at least 119 Iranian civilians and injured another 8,000, leaving some of them permanently disabled.

Iran, over the years, has slammed the Western governments for supplying chemical weapons to the former Iraqi dictator, while also calling on the international community to focus on the chemical activities of the Israeli regime.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kazem Gharibabadi, who serves as head of the Iranian Judiciary’s High Council for Human Rights, urged the United Nations Security Council to impose sanctions on Israel over its use of banned chemical weapons against “defenseless people” in Palestine and Lebanon.

“We condemn the Zionist regime’s use of chemical weapons and other hazardous materials, including white phosphorus and depleted uranium, against the defenseless people of Palestine and Lebanon,” Gharibabadi said while addressing the 29th Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CSP-29) held in The Hague on Wednesday.

Last month, Lebanon’s official National News Agency reported that Israeli forces had used internationally banned phosphorus munitions during a series of strikes on the outskirts of the southeastern Lebanese border town of Kfar Shuba.

On September 27, Israeli forces dropped over 80 tons of explosives on the southern suburb of Beirut using bunker-buster bombs, which contained depleted uranium (DU).

Back in March, Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that Israel had used white phosphorus bombs in south Lebanon once again, warning that the regime’s “use of airburst white phosphorus munitions in populated areas indiscriminately harms.”

In its investigation, HRW also verified the use of white phosphorus munitions by the Israeli military in at least 17 municipalities across south Lebanon since October 2023.

Iran, E3 agreed to continue diplomatic talks

“Another round of candid discussions with PDs of Fr, Ger and UK,” Gharibabadi wrote on his X account on Friday.

“We discussed and took stock of recent bilateral, regional and international developments, particularly nuclear and sanctions-lifting issues,” he added.

“We are firmly committed to pursuing the interests of our people, and our preference is the path of dialogue and engagement,” he noted.

“It was agreed to continue diplomatic dialogue in near future,” he stated.

The meeting of the deputy foreign Ministers of Iran, France, Germany, and the UK was held on Friday to discuss bilateral, regional, and international issues.

The JCPOA was signed in 2015 between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany. Former US President Donald Trump illegally pulled out of the deal in 2018 while the current US President, Joe Biden, has signaled that he is ready to resurrect the agreement.

Russia, the UK, Germany, China, the US, and France have been in talks with Iran since April 2021 to reinstate the deal.

The talks to salvage the JCPOA kicked off in the Austrian capital of Vienna in April 2021, with the intention of examining Washington’s seriousness in rejoining the deal and removing anti-Iran sanctions.

The negotiations have been at a standstill since August due to Washington’s insistence on its hard-nosed position of not removing all the sanctions that were slapped on the Islamic Republic by the previous US administration. Iran maintains it is necessary for the other side to offer some guarantees that it will remain committed to any agreement that is reached.

Nuclear arms race with Russia, China will come at cost for US

“Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, [the US] had been engaged in everything, but the development and production of [nuclear] munitions. And, accordingly, to resume the process now is a very, very difficult task, which they are accomplishing at huge costs and with a significant disruption of deadlines,” Dmitry Stefanovich tells Sputnik.

By contrast, Russia and China never stopped developing their respective nuclear and strategic missiles programs, he continues. If the US starts a nuclear race in earnest, the Russians and Chinese would be capable of immediately ramping up production, the pundit explains.

The potential arms race would put a burden on the US economy, according to the expert.

“[The US] already needs to build new [nuclear] weapons anyway and try to extend the service life of the old ones. And, in general, this is quite a difficult task. And already in the medium term, continuing to build up or even maintaining the expanded arsenal will require huge resources,” Stefanovich points out.

On November 29, Sputnik reviewed a report by the Russian think tank Roscongress Foundation that warned that the pace of US nuclear weapons modernization is accelerating, meaning Washington has de facto launched an arms race against Russia and China.
