Hyderabad: Former Hyderabad Ranji captain Tanmay Agarwal put the Arunachal Pradesh bowlers to sword smashing a breathtaking 160-ball unbeaten 323 as Hyderabad raced to 529/1 in just 48 overs, after restricting the opposition for 172 runs, on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at the NexGen Cricket Ground in Hyderabad, on Friday.
Hyderabad now have a lead of 357 runs and nine wickets in hand. The match is heading into another two-day finish like all the Hyderabad previous matches in the league.
Opener Tanmay smashed as many as 33 boundaries and 21 sixes in his knock while G Rahul Singh, the captain of the side, smashed 185 runs in 105 balls.
He scored 26 boundaries and three sixes. The openers added an astonishing 449 runs for the opening wicket in 40.2 overs before Rahul departed. At stumps, Abhirath Reddy was giving company to Tanmay.
Electing to bowl first, Hyderabad got off to a dream start with CV Milind taking two wickets in the first over.
He first bowled captain Neelam Obi on the third ball and then trapped Abhishek Mrinnal as lbw on the very next ball. Kartikeya Kak then struck for his first wicket dismissing Aprameya Jaiswal and then sent Indiya Toku to pavilion in his next over to reduce Arunachal Pradesh to 21/4 in the sixth over.
A 45-run stand between opener Techi Doria and Divyansh Yadav helped them to stage a mini-comeback but the latter was dismissed by Sanketh. Doria and Techi Sonam added 38 runs for the sixth wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark before Sonam’s dismissal.
The visitors lost the next two wickets cheaply. But opener Doria, who was running out of partners, counter-attacked, hitting 12 boundaries and four sixes. He was left stranded on 97 as other batters failed to give him any company.

Hyderabad: Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was playing his first Test match in India, is a bit disappointed to miss out on a hundred, during the second day”s play of the first Test against England in Hyderabad, on Friday.
The youngster said that he was trying to be positive and play an aggressive brand of cricket but had no qualms about missing the century. Speaking after the second day”s play, the left-hander said, “Yes, a century would have been amazing. But I was trying to be positive throughout my innings. I missed the century but it is ok. That is how I play my game,” he added.
Speaking about his dismissal, he said, “I could have played that shot well. But it is fine. I am still learning and I will learn from my mistakes.” When asked about his aggressive style of batting on the opening day where he attacked debutant Tom Hartley, he said there was no particular tactic against the debutant.
“There was no particular plan against him. I just wanted to be aggressive and play with positive intent,” he said. The youngster said his only goal in the series is to contribute as many runs as possible for the team.
“I want to play well and score as many runs as possible. Playing for India is a proud moment and I want to do well for the team.” India have posted a massive total with a lead of 175 runs but the youngster said that the team management has no particular score in mind before they decide to declare the innings.
“We want to make as many runs as possible in the first innings. The pitch is turning and it will be tough to play going ahead. So, we don”t have any particular total in mind. We want to make as many as possible,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, England”s assistant coach Jeetan Patel said that their inexperienced bowing attack is learning the craft on the go. “Yes, it is a learning experience for our bowlers. They have improved a lot from yesterday. In fact, they were very good today. I think they have improved tremendously,” he said.

Batting first, Hyderabad were all out for 170 runs in 49 overs. Only Trisha Poojitha could manage a half-century.
For Uttarakhand, Pramila Rawat scalped three wickets. Later, Hyderabad dismissed the opposition for 93 runs in 34.4 overs. Neelam top-scored for them with a 43-run knock.

Hyderabad:RavindraJadeja’s two-layered fifty and KLRahul’s mastery were at the heart of India’s 421 for seven, a total which placed them several miles ahead of England after the second day’s play of the first Test here on Friday.
Jadeja (81 batting) and AxarPatel (35 batting), who added 63 runs for the unbroken eighth-wicket stand, are at the crease at stumps. India’s lead has now swelled to 175 runs, and England would find it tough to wipe that out once their turn to bat come on third day.
But India’s ascendancy to the top on a slightly tacky pitch was more tectonic and Jadeja’s risk managing abilities played a huge role in it. In one sense, the situation was ideal for the left-hander, who loves a scrap in the middle. When Jadeja came to bat, Rahul was in full flight and he joined the party with a few blows of his own. In fact, the initial 40 balls he faced produced 35 runs as India first closed the gap with England and then swiftly moved into the lead. But Rahul’s dismissal for a 123-ball 86 forced Jadeja to transform his approach.
India’s lead was still only 42 then, and the home side needed him to bat long to construct more floors above that fledgling foundation. Jadeja did precisely that. He slowed down indeed, but not to that extend of confining himself into a shell and opened up whenever England bowlers erred in their lengths.
A daring hoick off left-arm spinner Tom Hartley over long-on for a six and a flowing off-drive off leg-spinner RehanAhmed for a four showcased his power and touch. England bowlers were all in spirit and optimism while bowling and appealing throughout the day, but they lacked consistency in hitting the right spot, except Joe Root, who is more than a part-timer in these conditions. It came as no surprise then that it was Root who put Jadeja in the most unpleasant situation during his knock.
The spinner wrapped Jadeja’s pads and umpire Paul Reiffel upheld the shout for leg-before. But the DRS found a massive inside edge as Jadeja survived at 49. He duly completed his 20th Test fifty in 84 balls when he peeled three runs off Root.
The only sore point during his otherwise assured stay was a calamitous mix-up which resulted in the run out of R Ashwin, as Jadeja sold a dummy, jogging a few steps before turning his back only to find his spin bowling partner standing right next to him. Though KSBharat (41, 81 balls) failed to kick on, the wicketkeeper batter helped Jadeja make 68 runs off 141 balls for the sixth wicket, which expanded India’s lead.
But regret will linger inside Bharat, who recently made a hundred against England Lions for India A, for he could not make his maiden Test fifty when the team was in a strong position and there was no real pressure on him.
However, Bharat will not be the only India batter who will be nursing that feeling once they glance back at the day’s proceedings at the RGI Stadium. Rahul, ShreyasIyer and Shubman Gill all could have registered a more substantial score against their names here.
Rahul will be particularly disappointed as he was primed to score a hundred in his 50th Test. Nonetheless, his innings was marked by imperious timing and meticulous shot selection, which made it oh-so-pleasing to watch. His fifth-wicket alliance with Jadeja produced 65 runs in just 74 balls during the middle session of play, pinning England on the back-foot. Overall, India made 87 runs during that period, losing two wickets.
The effortless partnership ended when Rahul pulled a half-tracker by Hartely to pick Ahmed, the lone fielder in the deep at mid-wicket. Iyer (35) scratched around for a good part of his 63-ball stay and seemed to have weathered the storm, especially against pacer Mark Wood who tested him with a slew of short-pitched deliveries.
But Iyer let the opportunity to build on it slip away when he played a slog sweep of Ahmed to give a simple catch to Hartley at deep mid-wicket and the Mumbaikar will need efforts with more substance to fight for his place once ViratKohli rejoins the squad from the third Test.
In the first session, YashasviJaiswal could only add four runs to his overnight score of 76 before offering a lame return catch to Root, and had he shown a bit of patience to settle down the left-hander could have notched his second Test century. Shubman Gill, the other overnight batter, reached 23 but a rather reckless slog sweep off Hartley ended in the hands of Ahmed at deep mid-wicket.
Fortunately for Indian team, it had the collective will to tide over those occasional setbacks to move ahead of England and push for a win from hereon.
To add fuel to fire, a podcast on news channel Samaa TV claimed that Malik and Sana had been having an affair and intimate relations since last three years despite being married.

Karachi: Indian tennis superstar Sania Mirza has received strong support from people in Pakistan after ex-husband Shoaib Malik revealed last week that he was now married TV actor and model Sana Javed.
People on social media have castigated Malik and Sana for breaking up their respective marriages, with many supporting Sania’s decision to seek divorce from the Pakistani cricketer.
To add fuel to fire, a podcast on news channel Samaa TV claimed that Malik and Sana had been having an affair and intimate relations since last three years despite being married.
The podcast added that Sana had been divorced merely for three months from her former husband Umair Jaswal when she tied the knot with Malik.
Whenever Malik was invited for any shows on the channel, he would appear only on the condition that Sana should also be called, the podcast added. “They were having an affair for the last three years and were intimately involved,” a producer of the podcast said.
“Umair didn’t know about this, but Sania Mirza and her family and even Malik’s family came to know about it last year. Efforts were made to resolve the situation but Malik didn’t listen to anyone,” the producer added.
Malik and Sania were married amidst great fanfare in 2010 at Hyderabad (India) while Sana and Jaswal tied the knot in 2020 in a private ceremony.
That Malik and Sania are now separated came to light only after the former cricketer and Sana shared a photograph from their marriage.

Melbourne: Jannik Sinner recorded a dominant win against 10-time champion Novak Djokovic to reach his first Grand Slam final, scuttling Serbian’s bid for a record-extending 11th Australian Open in the semifinals on Friday.
The youngest man to reach a final at Melbourne Park since 2008, the 22-year-old Italian registered a stunning 6-1, 6-2, 6-7(6-8), 6-3 triumph at Rod Laver Arena, ending Djokovic’s 33-match Melbourne winning streak and handing him his first Australian Open defeat since 2018.
“It was a very, very tough match. I started off really well. For two sets, I felt like he was not feeling that great on court so I just tried to keep pushing. Then in the third set I had match point and I missed the forehand, but this is tennis. I just tried to be ready also for the next set, which I started off really well. And obviously the atmosphere was so great to play here,” Sinner said in his on-court interview.
Only sixth months ago, world No.1 Djokovic had few difficulties keeping the Italian contained in the Wimbledon semifinals, but a pair of confidence-boosting wins from three subsequent encounters had invigorated Sinner’s belief, AusOpen reports.
In just his second Grand Slam semifinal, Sinner paid no attention to precedent and after three hours and 23 minutes handed Djokovic his first loss against a top-five opponent at Melbourne Park since the Serb fell to Roger Federer in the fourth round in 2007.
Sinner will meet either third seed Daniil Medvedev or sixth seed Alexander Zverev for his maiden major trophy on Sunday.
“The confidence from the end of last year has for sure kept the belief that I can play against the best players in the world. I’m really happy that I can play Sunday my first final. Let’s see how it goes. But I’m really happy, I’ll come here with a smile and I’ll try my best,” the Italian said.
Despite the defeat, Djokovic will remain No. 1 in the ATP Rankings. Sinner could rise to a career-high of No. 3 if he wins his first major title and Daniil Medvedev loses to Alexander Zverev in Friday’s second semifinal.

Hyderabad: KL Rahul scored an unbeaten half-century (55 batting) and added an unbroken 63 runs for the fourth wicket with Shreyas Iyer (34 batting) to lead India closer to England’s first as hosts were comfortably placed at 222/3 at lunch on the second day of the first Test, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, on Friday.
Though India lost overnight batters – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill – in the session, they scored 103 runs in 27 overs.
Jaiswal, resuming at his overnight score 76, hit Joe Root for a boundary on the second ball of the day but the England bowler had the upper hand dismissing the youngster two deliveries later. Jaiswal tried to continue in his aggressive fashion as he tried to dance down the track to loft the bowler straight down the ground but ended up giving a return catch to Root to be dismissed for 80 runs. He added 43 runs for the second wicket with Gill.
Rahul, with Shubman Gill, steadied the innings scoring occasional boundaries. He hit debutant Hartley for consecutive boundaries and looked in good rhythm. However, Gill threw his wicket away in search of quick runs. He whipped debutant Hartley to Ben Duckett who was placed at the mid-wicket just before that delivery.
But at the other end, Rahul looked determined to take on the bowlers. He hit Mark Wood for three boundaries in the 36th over – one of them coming off an inside edge. New batter Shreyas Iyer pulled a six over mid-wicket for his first boundary. Rahul then reached his half-century with a single off Root just before lunch.

Miami: Lionel Messi has won global futbol’s biggest prize. He’ll now be part of American football’s biggest day.
The Inter Miami star, World Cup champion and global soccer icon will headline a Super Bowl ad for Michelob Ultra, the brand announced Thursday. A teaser to what will be a 60-second spot shows Messi ordering a beer as he walks up to a beachside bar, and his reaction when the tap stops pouring.
It’ll be Messi’s first Super Bowl commercial and adds to his massive advertising reach in the U.S. and globally. The game is on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas.
“Having the GOAT himself, Lionel Messi, and the Super Bowl as a stage to kick it all off and start the year with a bang, that gets us incredibly fired up,” Ricardo Marques, Ultra’s vice president of marketing, said in an interview with The Associated Press.
“Messi needs no introduction. The power that he has, the impact that he had upon his arrival in Miami, in the world of soccer and beyond, he’s clearly a cultural icon right now.” Messi’s partnership with Michelob Ultra’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev, began in 2020. The Super Bowl spot is part of the beer’s sizable investment in soccer. The ad follows the brand being revealed as the global beer sponsor of this summer’s Copa América.
It’s also expected Ultra will partner with the men’s World Cup when the tournament is played in the U.S., Canada and Mexico in 2026 as Messi’s Argentina aims to defend their title.
“When you put it all together, we clearly have a very exciting road ahead of us in the context of soccer,” Marques said.
Messi is a marketing dream with giant brands such as Adidas, Gatorade, Hard Rock International, Royal Caribbean and Apple TV among others all involved with him. His social media footprint is enormous, with nearly 500 million followers on Instagram. Anheuser-Busch routinely spends millions on Super Bowl ads; last year’s game brought an asking price of as much as $7 million for a 30-second spot, with companies paying it to be on U.S. advertising’s biggest stage and with hopes of reaching an expected audience of more than 100 million.
The beverage giant had a Michelob Ultra spot as part of last year’s Super Bowl lineup, also with a sports theme — it was set at Bushwood Country Club, the fictional country club in “Caddyshack,” and starred tennis great Serena Williams, former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current TV analyst Tony Romo, Miami Heat standout Jimmy Butler, golfer Rickie Fowler, soccer player Alex Morgan and boxer Canelo Álvarez.
Messi has more than 800 goals ifor clubs and country, among the greatest scorers. He scored twice in the 2022 World Cup final that Argentina won against France on penalty kicks.
Messi is a four-time Champions League winner, an Olympic gold medalist and has been part of 44 trophy wins, considered the most in soccer history.
“The artistry that he brings to the pitch brings fans from all walks of life,” Marques said. “That’s why we’re excited about Lionel Messi, his partnership and where soccer is going in the U.S.”
