BSP Will Make West UP Separate State If Voted To Power At Centre: Mayawati

BSP Will Make West UP Separate State If Voted To Power At Centre: Mayawati

Mayawati was addressing a rally in Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat

Muzaffarnagar:

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Sunday said her party will take concrete steps to make western Uttar Pradesh a separate state if voted to power at the Centre.

Addressing a rally here in support of the BSP’s candidate from the Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat Dara Singh Prajapati, Mayawati also said the BJP has a very slim chance of coming to power again.

“You want western Uttar Pradesh to become a separate state. For this, concrete steps will be taken if our government comes to power at the Centre,” Mayawati told the gathering.

The BSP chief said if free and fair elections are held and voting machines are not tampered with, the BJP will not return to power this time.

“Most of the BJP’s time was spent on making wealthy businessmen wealthier and protecting them… The BJP and other parties run their organisations and contest elections with the support of these businesses. This was revealed by electoral bond data,” she added.

The former chief minister hit out at the BJP government for not recruiting people for vacant posts reserved for backward communities and making reservations in promotion redundant.

“In the last few years, with the BJP in power at the Centre and in most states, the progress of Muslims has stopped to a great extent. Violence in the name of religion has increased here,” Mayawati said, adding that poor people of the general category have also not received any benefits under the BJP’s rule.

Prajapati is pitted against Sanjeev Kumar Balyan of the BJP and Harendra Singh Malik of the Samajwadi Party (SP).

Before her rally here, Mayawati also addressed a public meeting in Saharanpur district.

The eight parliamentary constituencies of Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina (SC), Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh will vote in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls on April 19.

The counting of votes will be held on June 4.

The BS fought the 2019 Lok Sabha election in alliance with the SP and managed to secure victory on 10 seats.

The party has decided to go solo this time. The SP, Congress and the All India Trinamool Congress are contesting as part of the INDIA bloc and the BJP, Apna Dal (S), NISHAD party and the SBSP are part of the NDA alliance.

Uttar Pradesh has 80 Lok Sabha seats, the highest for any state in the country.

Virat Kohli's Request In Vain As Mumbai Crowd Boos Hardik Pandya Once Again

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was once again booed by the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium during the IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Hardik has been on the receiving end of some negative reactions from the MI fanbase since replacing Rohit Sharma as the skipper. Things got worse as MI slumped to three back-to-back defeats in the competition but the past few games have witnessed a mini-resurgence for the side with two wins. During the last game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Virat Kohli was not pleased with the crowd booing Hardik and he requested them to cheer him and remember that he plays for the Indian cricket team.

However, it looks like Kohli’s requests were in vain as Hardik was once again targeted with boos by the fans while loud chants of “Rohit Rohit” was also heard ahead of the start of the match.

Meanwhile, Hardik won the toss and opted to field against Chennai Super Kings.

“We would like to bowl first, dew will come into play. It (pitch) looks better than the last game, expecting a lot of runs. Need to stick to the basics. Winning is very important to get the momentum. We were able to win two games convincingly. That’s the beauty about IPL, everyone has to contribute. Your team will be able to achieve goals eventually. The dew started coming post 10 overs (in the last game.) It gets heavier in the evening. Same team.” Hardik said at the toss.

Biden Tells Netanyahu US Would Not Take Part In Offensive Against Iran

Biden Tells Netanyahu US Would Not Take Part In Israeli Counter-Offensive Against Iran: Report

File photo

President Joe Biden has told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would not participate in any Israeli counter-offensive against Iran, according to reports on Sunday by CNN and the Wall Street Journal.

Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday night in response to a suspected Israel attack on Iran’s Syria consulate on April 1.

Speaking with Netanyahu late on Saturday, Biden suggested further response was unnecessary, and senior U.S. officials told their counterparts that the United States would not participate in an offensive response against Iran, CNN and the Wall Street Journal reported.

John Kirby, the White House’s top national security spokesperson, told ABC’s “This Week” program on Sunday that the United States will continue to help Israel defend itself, but does not want war with Iran.

“We don’t seek escalated tensions in the region. We don’t seek a wider conflict,” Kirby said.

Iran President Warns Of "Stronger Response" If Israel Retaliates To Attack

Iran President Warns Of 'Stronger Response' If Israel Retaliates To Attack

File photo

Tehran:

Iran on Sunday urged Israel not to retaliate militarily to an unprecedented attack overnight, which Tehran presented as a justified response to a deadly strike on its consulate building in Damascus.

“The matter can be deemed concluded,” Iran’s mission to the United Nations said in a post on social media platform X just a few hours after the start of the operation late Saturday.

“However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe,” the Iranian mission warned.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Sunday warned Israel and its allies against any “reckless” actions after Tehran’s drone and missile attack, which marked the first time Iran has launched a direct military assault on Israeli territory.

“If the Zionist regime (Israel) or its supporters demonstrate reckless behaviour, they will receive a decisive and much stronger response,” Raisi said in a statement.

After numerous countries condemned Iran’s attack, Tehran’s foreign ministry summoned the French, British, and German ambassadors “following the irresponsible positions of certain officials of these countries regarding Iran’s response”, a statement said.

Late Saturday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps announced that they had launched “dozens of drones and missiles” towards military sites on Israeli territory.

“Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus” earlier this month, the Iranian mission to the UN said, dubbing it “legitimate defence”.

Israel’s army said it had shot 99 percent of the drones and missiles with the help of the United States and other allies, declaring Iran’s attack “foiled”.

The Iranian army chief of staff Mohammad Bagheri said the attack has “achieved all its objectives” and there was “no intention to continue this operation”.

Bagheri said Iran’s retaliation targeted an “intelligence centre” and the air base from which Tehran says the Israeli F-35 jets took off to strike the Damascus consulate on April 1.

“Both these centres were significantly destroyed,” he said, though Israel maintains that the attack only resulted in minor damage.

Attack ‘telegraphed’

Experts have suggested that Saturday’s slow-moving drone attack was calibrated to represent a show of power but also allow some wiggle room.

“It appears that Iran telegraphed its attack on Israel to demonstrate it can strike using different capabilities, to complicate the ability to neutralise the assault but also to provide an off-ramp to pause escalation,” said Nishank Motwani, senior analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute in Washington.

“Tehran can escalate if it chooses to across a range of vectors,” said Motwani.

Over the last two weeks, the Iranian authorities had repeatedly vowed to “punish” Israel after the death of seven Guards including two generals of the Quds Force in the attack that levelled the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Iran has blamed Israel for the attack.

In the days after the strike, Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel will be “slapped for that action”.

Since Iran’s 1979 revolution, Israel has been the sworn enemy of the Islamic Republic.

Iran has often called for the destruction of Israel, with support of the Palestinian cause one of the pillars of the Islamic revolution.

However, until Saturday Tehran had also refrained from a direct attack on Israel.

Instead, it has backed members of the so-called “Axis of Resistance” against Israel, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Yemen’s Huthi rebels, since the outbreak of war in Gaza between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas on October 7.

Hours before the strikes on Saturday, Iran seized an Israeli-linked container ship in the Gulf which Washington called “an act of piracy”.

‘Next slap will be fiercer’

During the night, Tehran warned the United States, urging it to “stay away” from its conflict with Israel.

“If necessary”, Tehran “will not hesitate to take defensive measures to protect its interests against any aggressive military action,” Iran’s foreign ministry said.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian later said Tehran had notified neighbouring countries ahead of the military operation, stressing its objective was “to punish the Israeli regime”.

“We are not seeking to target the American people or American bases in the region,” he said, but warned that Iran could target US military positions involved in “defending and supporting” Israel.

“The next slap will be fiercer,” warned a mural unveiled overnight in Tehran’s Palestine Square, where several thousands gathered, shouting “Death to Israel” and “Death to America”.

Before Tehran launched its attack, Israel warned Iran that it would suffer “the consequences for choosing to escalate the situation any further”.

Israel has not revealed what a potential response would look like.

An Israeli attack on Iran’s territory, possibly targeting military or nuclear sites, could not be ruled out, according to experts.

As a precaution, Iran’s Imam Khomeini international airport and the domestic Mehrabad airport will remain closed until Monday at 06:00 am (0230 GMT), according to ISNA news agency.

Several international airlines have suspended flights over Iranian airspace.

Countries including Russia and France have asked their citizens to avoid travelling to Iran and Israel.

PM's "Royal Magician" Dig At Rahul Gandhi Over Remark To Remove Poverty

PM Modi's 'Royal Magician' Dig At Rahul Gandhi Over Remark To Remove Poverty

PM Modi was addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad Lok Sabha constituency

Hoshangabad:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, terming him a “royal magician” over his remark to eradicate poverty “with a single stroke” and said the country doesn’t take him seriously.

Addressing a rally at Pipariya town in Madhya Pradesh’s Hoshangabad Lok Sabha constituency, PM Modi also targeted the opposition INDIA bloc over one of its constituents being in favour of nuclear disarmament and said they cannot protect the country.

He also said the Congress always insulted Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, but the BJP government has honoured him.

“The Congress shehzada announced to eradicate poverty with a single stroke. It is laughable. Where was this royal magician missing for so many years? His grandmother (former PM Indira Gandhi) had given the slogan of ‘Garibi Hatao’ 50 years ago,” PM Modi said without naming Rahul Gandhi.

The country does not take him seriously, the PM said.

“They ran the government by remote control for 10 years before 2014. Now they have found a mantra instantly. They made such statements and have become a laughing stock. It is a joke on the poor,” he said.

Without naming any party, PM Modi said a constituent of the INDIA bloc has called for nuclear disarmament — referring to the CPI(M) manifesto.

The party that cannot strengthen itself, can it strengthen the country? he asked.

“In the manifestoes of INDI alliance partners, a number of dangerous promises were made. One of its partner’s manifesto has promised nuclear disarmament of the country,” he said.

“We should have nuclear weapons to protect our country; those saying otherwise can’t protect India,” he said.

PM Modi further hit out at the Congress saying no sooner the son of a poor family became prime minister, the grand old party spread rumours that the Constitution and democracy were in danger.

“Modi has reached here due to the Constitution scripted by Babasaheb,” he said on the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.

“The Congress always insulted Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, we have honoured him,” the PM said.

He also said the Congress never recognised the contribution of adivasis (tribals), but the BJP government has honoured them.

Because of the Constitution given by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, a tribal woman became the President of India, the PM said, referring to Droupadi Murmu’s election to the country’s top constitutional post.

“Today is a big day in history as today is the birth anniversary of Ambedkar Ji. It was because of Babasaheb’s Constitution that a tribal family’s daughter has become the country’s president and a poor woman’s son is seeking votes from you for serving you for the third time,” PM Modi said.

He said the BJP government has got an opportunity to develop ‘Panch Teerth’ associated with Babasaheb Ambedkar, who was born in Mhow town of Madhya Pradesh.

PM Modi said the Congress, during its rule, had imposed Emergency and dissolved state governments at its will.

“Now the royal family is threatening that if Modi becomes prime minister for the third time, the country would be up in flames,” he said.

They had earlier also made statements like the country would be on fire if the Ram temple was built and Article 370 (which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir) was abrogated, he said.

“They are jealous. The fire has engulfed their heart and mind. They are not jealous of Modi but are jealous of the love of the 140 crore people of the country for Modi. They are restless after being out of power for 10 years,” the PM said.

“The (opposition) INDI alliance is unable to decide in which direction the country should move,” he said.

The slogan of “Phir ek baar, Modi sarkar” is resonating across the country, the PM said.

“Modi doesn’t have any dream; your dreams are my mission,” he told the gathering.

The prime minister said the Congress never recognised the contribution of adivasis (tribals), but the BJP government has honoured them.

He said the government will celebrate 2025 as the ‘Janjatiya Gourav Diwas’ to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

IPL: Brian Lara In Awe Of Surya's Batting After Coming From Long Hiatus

As the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) lock horns in IPL 2024 ‘El Clasico’ on Sunday evening, former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara heaped praise on MI batter Suryakumar Yadav for his impressive batting on returning from injury layoff. While sharing his insights on the impending showdown between Yadav and CSK spinner Ravindra Jadeja. Lara first commended the Chennai spinner for his exceptional skills, noting that he would rely on slower balls in most encounters.

Speaking on Star Sports Cricket Live, the former West Indies cricketer said, “Yeah, it’s a battle, but you know, okay, those are some stats that you pull out. I mean, those are the times when he may have failed, but this guy is in superb form. And I mean, if he wants to succumb to that and say, okay, I’m going to rematch against you later. I’ve got other guys I can take on. He can do that as well.”

“But I believe that the confidence that he’s in, whether it’s left arm spin or left arm pace, whatever you call it, I think he’s going to drop the slower balls for most battles. And when you have to actually put pace on the ball, it’s always dicey. You like pace on the ball where you can carve it in different directions,” he said.

Additionally, the West Indian emphasised the anticipation of an intriguing battle from Suryakumar, implying that it would be one to watch closely.

Missing the first three games for MI after a lengthy layoff caused by an ankle injury and sports hernia surgery, Suryakumar joined the Mumbai squad for the match against Delhi Capitals but was out for a duck.

But the batter returned in top form in the next encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and smashed a 19-ball 52, joint second-fastest fifty for MI.

Lara was left in awe by the performance of the 33-year-old batter upon his return from a lengthy layoff, noting that he hadn’t witnessed shots like that from someone just recovering from an injury.

“But what I saw a couple of days ago from Surya Kumar Yadav is just genius. I think, I’ve not seen shots like that from a guy who’s just coming off an injury, coming off a first-half attack, or at least a zero in the last game. Tremendous. And I think whatever battle will come from Surya Kumar Yadav,” added Lara.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Review: Best Mid-Range Phone You Can Buy?

Motorola is back with what could be the best-looking phone of the year. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is a mid-range smartphone with a design that makes it look and feel premium. While this formula has been used by many brands in the last couple of years, only some have managed to nail it. The Edge 50 Pro adds to it by offering some world-first features, but are they good? I’ve been using the Edge 50 Pro for a couple of weeks now to find out if there’s more to the phone than just design and some validations.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro price in India

I’ll start with the price. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is available in two variants in the country. There’s the 8GB + 256GB variant, which is priced at Rs. 31,999, and there’s the 12GB + 256GB storage option, which is what I’m testing, priced at Rs. 35,999. You could purchase the phone at a lower cost by availing certain offers, but the above-mentioned prices are what the phone is being sold for without any offers.

motorola edge 50 pro review1 edge-5-pro-review1

The phone offers rounded corners and curved edges

The phone is available in three colour options. The Black Beauty and Luxe Lavender variants have a soft vegan leather-finish rear panel, whereas the MoonLight Pearl is a special variant with an acetate finish that is apparently handcrafted in Italy by Mazzucchelli. I’m using the Luxe Lavender variant, and I think it looks great in this colour. All of these colours were curated with the help of Pantone.

The unboxing experience of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is going to be a unique one. Firstly, Motorola has used zero plastic in the packaging and everything is printed using soy ink. Second, and we confirmed this, Motorola sprays perfume on each box to make it smell good. And it does smell good, for quite a long time actually.

motorola edge 50 pro review4 edge-5--pro-review-4

The Edge 50 Pro box can be recycled

Inside the box, you get a case, some paperwork, a SIM ejector tool, a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, and a 125W Turbo charger. In our case, the 8GB RAM variant comes with a 68W charger.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Review: Design

I’d have given a solid 10 to the Edge 50 Pro in the design department, but that’s not the case and here’s why. The phone looks and feels great the moment you first take it out of the box. It’s got a stunning design, and the colour makes things even better. The rear leather finish panel, curved front and back, rounded corners, and the aluminium frame make this phone a delight to hold as well. However, the rear leather panel doesn’t sit flush with the frame, and you can feel the edges when you’re holding the phone. And this is why I’m giving this a 9 in design.

motorola edge 50 pro review3 edge-50-pro-review3

The rear vegan leather finish panel is easy to clean

The leather finish also means no fingerprints to clean. The squarish camera module does protrude, but also blends with the rear panel in a slope. While it does make the phone wobble when laid on its back, it looks great. The Edge 50 Pro weighs 186 grams and is 8.19mm thick, but the weight is well distributed, and the curved front and rear panels make the phone seem thinner and smaller than it is. Folks with big hands can easily use this with one hand.

On the front, you get a curved display with symmetric bezels. The side bezels are thin and are barely visible due to the curve, whereas the top and bottom ones are also slim and uniform. The volume and power buttons are on the left edge and are clicky. You’ll also find a microphone on the left edge and one at the top. At the bottom, you’ll find the USB Type-C port, SIM tray, microphone, and loudspeaker. The phone does have a dual speaker setup, but it’s of the hybrid type, with the ear speaker working as the second speaker.

motorola edge 50 pro review2 edge-50-pro-review2

Motorola has offered 3 microphones on the Edge 50 Pro

Motorola has also given an IP68 rating for the Edge 50 Pro, and I found the rubber seal in the SIM ejector tray to be of good quality. You should be able to dunk this in the swimming pool without much worry, but don’t shoot a whole Reel underwater.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Review: Specifications and software

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, which is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. Yes, the storage is on the slower side, but it’s not really a dealbreaker. The phone gets dual SIM dual 5G support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. For location services, the phone offers support for GPS, AGPS, LTEPP, SUPL, GLONASS, Galileo, and Navic satellites.

motorola edge 50 pro review4 1 edge-50-pro-review5

The Edge 50 Pro runs on the new Hello UI

The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner, which works fast. I didn’t face any issues with it during my use. Motorola has packed a 4,500mAh battery in the Edge 50 Pro, which is smaller than what most other phones offer in this price segment. However, you do get up to 125W fast charging support along with 50W wireless charging.

In terms of software, Motorola has changed things around a bit. The Edge 50 Pro comes with Android 14-based Hello UI, which is different to the My UX that we were used to. It’s a lot lighter with hardly any additional apps apart from Google apps. There’s no bloatware, the interface is mostly stock with some Motorola design elements, and you get some additional features such as Moto Unplugged, Ready For, gestures, Smart connect, custom fonts, colours, icons, and Family Space. There’s also an AI theming feature called Style Sync that uses AI to create custom wallpapers from photos taken using the camera or in the gallery. The AI feature works well but isn’t as good as similar features found on more expensive phones.

motorola edge 50 pro review5 edge-50-pro-review6

There’s no bloatware on the phone

Motorola promises three years of Android OS updates and four years of security patches.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Review: Performance

Moving to performance, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is great at running daily tasks, gaming, and more. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is a fairly recent chipset and has enough oomph to run all kinds of tasks smoothly in most conditions. I ran some benchmarks to see how it performed, and on AnTuTu, it managed a score of 8,18,387 points. That’s slightly higher than the recently launched OnePlus Nord CE 4 (Review), which also runs the same chipset.

The performance on the phone is good, but what’s even better is the display. Motorola has included a 6.7-inch pOLED curved display on the Edge 50 Pro with 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The panel also offers up to 2,000 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ support, 10-bit colour, and DCI-P3 colour gamut, and is claimed to be the world’s first Pantone-validated true colour display.

motorola edge 50 pro review7 edge-50-pro-review7

The Edge 50 Pro has protective glass and a screen protector on the display

I found the colours to be a bit oversaturated in Vivid colour mode, but you can choose the Natural colour option to get the most natural and realistic colours. There’s also a Radiant mode that makes the colours appear more vibrant and brighter. The display is great overall, offers excellent viewing angles, and is easy to read even under direct sunlight. It’s a great phone for content consumption.

What’s also good is the stereo speaker sound that comes with Dolby Atmos support. While there’s not a lot of bass in the audio, I found the speakers to be loud and clear, with no crackling even at full volume. The microphone quality is also good.

motorola edge 50 pro review8 edge-50-pro-review8

The curved display can cause ghost touches when playing games

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is pretty good as a gaming phone as well. I didn’t notice any drop in frame rate, touch sensitivity issues, or lag when gaming on the phone. I played BGMI for about 45 minutes, and it worked great in Ultra HDR graphics and Ultra frame rate. The only issue I faced had to do with the display. Since the phone has a curved panel, there were plenty of ghost touches when playing games. Otherwise, the Edge 50 Pro performed quite well in games and didn’t heat a lot, either.

Generally, I did not face any lag or stutter while performing regular tasks. The 144Hz display makes sure to hide any lag in the user interface. The only time I faced a lag was when viewing a photo in the camera app, which took about a second or two to load. Yes, there were a couple of instances of some lag when opening apps in the background, but it doesn’t happen enough to call it a problem.

Finally, let’s get to the battery performance. While the 4,500mAh battery is smaller than most other phones in the price segment, I was able to get more than a day’s battery life out of the Edge 50 Pro. In our HD video loop test, the phone lasted only about 15 hours, though, which isn’t that great. When I used the phone for basic tasks such as making calls, messaging, some YouTube, browsing, and using the camera, it lasted more than a day. With heavy usage, I was getting almost a day’s worth of battery life. However, what’s amazing is that the phone can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in just about 25 minutes and 0 to 50 percent in around 10 minutes. This is with the 125W charger, of course, and using it did heat up the phone quite a bit.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Review: Cameras

The phone is equipped with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.4 aperture and OIS support, a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit with 120-degree field of view and a macro mode, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with OIS and 3x optical zoom. There’s also a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, an LED flash, and autofocus on the square rear camera module. For selfies, the phone offers a 50-megapixel sensor with autofocus.

motorola edge 50 pro review9 edge-50-pro-review9

The Edge 50 Pro features a 50-megapixel front camera

Motorola claims that this is the world’s first and only phone to have a Pantone colour-validated camera system. Both photos and videos shot from the phone are said to offer realistic and true colours with accurate skin tones, but that wasn’t entirely the case. The camera interface is simple to use and offers several modes. There’s also a Tilt-shift mode, a Pro mode, a Night mode, dual capture, long exposure, a 50-megapixel mode, and more.

Images shot with the main 50-megapixel rear camera offer very good details and colours with good HDR. However, if you zoom in on the image, you’ll see that the details are lost in the shadows. I also found that the images were still slightly saturated even after turning off AI enhancements, choosing a natural image style, and using a Natural colour mode for the display. Or perhaps the folks over at Pantone know the colours better, and my renditions are just wrong. The primary camera takes good shots even in low light, but again, they are oversaturated.

Moving on, while the telephoto camera does shoot good 3x zoomed shots in both daylight and lowlight conditions, the details can be a little muddy. Colours are once again slightly oversaturated. The ultra-wide camera produces good photos in daylight but isn’t that good in lowlight conditions. Selfies are good with ample details in good lighting conditions and skin tones are also very close to reality. Images from the phone are generally brighter as well. There’s also a Macro mode that produces decent shots. Let’s take a look at some samples.

Top to bottom: Ultrawide (2 samples) Main 50-megapixel sensor (3 samples) 3x Telephoto (2 samples) [Tap to expand]

Coming to video performance, the main camera can shoot at 4K resolution at 30fps. The videos come out good, even in 3x zoom, and have a good dynamic range with hardly any noise. Colours are slightly boosted, but nothing unrealistic. In low light, the video performance drops, but videos are still usable if there’s ample lighting. The stabilisation is also pretty good and is aided by AI, according to Motorola.

Overall, the camera system on the Motorola Edge 50 Pro is good and usable.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro Review: Verdict

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is a great phone that’s competitively priced. However, in some areas, you may be better off purchasing other phones. For example, if you want better performance, you could opt for the Oppo Reno 11 Pro (Review). However, it lacks an IP rating and wireless charging and offers similar camera performance.

Then there’s the Vivo V30, which offers slightly better camera performance and the same chipset. However, it lacks wireless charging and a few other features.

Motorola Edge 50 Pro offers a lot more features than some of its competitors. I honestly think that this is probably one of the best smartphones in the price segment. The cameras aren’t amazing, but they’re not bad, and you get usable sensors. The display is excellent, you get a standout design, wireless charging, an IP68 rating, and a lot more. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is on the edge of greatness and is definitely one of the best mid-range phones you can buy today.

After 40-hr rescue effort, 6-yr-old boy found dead in borewell in MP

Bhopal: Six-year-old-boy, Mayank Kol, who fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district on Friday, was found dead on Sunday morning after more than 40-hour efforts by NDRF and SDRF teams.

After being rescued when the boy was rushed to a hospital, the doctors declared him dead. The doctors said the boy was dead three-four hours after he fell into the deep borewell in a village in Teonthar tehsil of Rewa district, bordering Prayag and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh).

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) called from Varanasi made their all possible efforts and kept digging to reach the boy stuck 40 feet deep in the dry borewell.

Mayank is the fresh victim of the borewell tragedy Madhya Pradesh has been witnessing with open eyes but helpless for the past several years. Incidents of children falling into borewells, and hours-long rescue operations have been a regular occurrence in the state for the past two-and-a-half-year.

Shockingly, over half a dozen children died after falling into borewells in different parts of Madhya Pradesh in the past two years.

Rewa district collector, Pratibha Pal, SP Vivek Singh and Tenothar MLA (BJP) Siddharth Tiwari along with aggrieved parents of the victim with hundreds of villagers present there kept watching the rescue operation and were praying for his life for the past two days. But at last, they witnessed yet another borewell tragedy in Madhya Pradesh.

Before Mayank, other children, who became the victims of borewell-tragedy in Madhya Pradesh in the past two years – were — five-year-old boy Vijay (December 12, 2023) in Alirajpur district, five-year-old girl Mahi (December 5, 2023).

On June 8 last year, six-year-old girl, Shristi Kushwaha, fell into a borewell left open at a village in Sehore district. She was rescued after more than 60 hours of efforts jointly by the SDRF, NDRF and Army, however, her life could not be saved.

On December 10, 2022, five-year-old Tanmay Sahu died after falling into a borewell in Betul district.
