The Hyderabad police registered 35,944 cases in the year 2024 as compared to 25,488 cases the previous year. The bodily crime cases registered were 8,447 this year while last year 5098 cases were booked and 5,328 property crime cases were registered this year compared to the previous year when 3551 cases were booked.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Hyderabad Police Commissioner, CV Anand, said the police are serious in registering the First Information Report (FIR) and investigating all the offences.

“Due to free registration of the FIR there is increase in the number of cases. The population of the city is also growing,” he said.

The police are adopting a zero tolerance approach to any crime and all the wings of the city police are seriously following the cases.

“Cases are registered for cell phone snatching and dedicated teams are apprehending and arresting the offenders. Organized crimes have come down in the city and activities of all the rowdy sheeters are under surveillance and control,” said Anand.

With regard to the bouncers, the Hyderabad Commissioner said the ‘service providers’ should ensure the bouncers behaved properly. “During Sandhya theatre incident, everyone had seen how rudely these people were behaving with the crowds. Strict action will be taken against them, if they fail to comply with the laws,” warned Anand.

Former Congress leader Bakka Judson says Congress created fake voter ID cards

A similar exercise was done in Kerala as well and this was not just about political benefit, but also a serious case of sedition, he said, adding that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should be held responsible

Former Congress leader Bakka Judson says Congress created fake voter ID cards

Hyderabad: Former PCC General Secretary Bakka Judson alleged that the Congress party had created fake 8.5 lakh voter ID cards in the State to derive political benefits targeting the local body elections.

A similar exercise was done in Kerala as well and this was not just about political benefit, but also a serious case of sedition, he said, adding that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should be held responsible.

In a video that has gone viral on social media platforms, Judson said a complaint was lodged by him with the Election Commission with all evidence. With an eye on the forthcoming municipal elections in the State, 8.5 lakh votes of those aged between 18 and 35 years were first deleted from the list.

The original voters’ photos were morphed and their phone numbers were also altered. Interestingly, the voter ID numbers would remain same, he alleged.

Judson expressed concern that if such voter IDs landed in the hands of terrorists and other anti-national groups, they could misuse those. Citizenship of individuals was being comprised and it was not just a petty issue, he said in the video.

“This is not confined to Telangana, it is happening in Kerala, Karnataka and other places. Yet, the BJP is remaining calm over the issue,” Judson said, alleging that Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s wife Nandini was also involved in the issue. When a case was registered against a few individuals, she managed to get the accused released, he alleged.

The Congress party keeps complaining and questions EVMs but morphing voter IDs was a bigger scam. Using these fake IDs, the party workers cast votes, he said, adding that he was planning to file a PIL in the Supreme Court in the voter IDs scam.

Hyderabad: The Amrabad and Kawal tiger reserves have been listed in the top five among 52 tiger reserves in the country for the highest forest fires detections within the reserves.

The Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh recorded 2,644 forest fire detections in the 2023-24 fire season. After the Indravati and Valmiki tiger reserves, Kawal recorded 1,243 detections and Amrabad 1,224 detections during the same season.

For sustaining tiger population, a good prey base is required, which, in turn, depends on good spread of palatable grasses.

Hence, fires play a major role in the management of tiger reserves, both as a management tool to maintain grasslands and as an ecological threat, according to the Indian State of Forest Report released on Saturday.

According to the report, it is important to detect forest fires for taking up remedial measures. It is equally important to assess forest area affected by forest fires and assess the damage to forest and biodiversity.

The number of forest fires detected by the Forest Survey of India using MODIS and SNPP-VIIRS sensors also increased in Telangana. Compared to SNPP-VIIRS sensor detections of 13,117 during November 2022-June 2023, the numbers have increased by a notch — 13,479 detections during the November 2023-June 2024 season.

Telangana was also among the States with the maximum decrease of forest cover inside the Recorded Forest Area. After Tripura, with 116.90 square km, Telangana stood second with 105.87 square km and Assam with 86.66 square km.

The maximum fire-affected forest areas have also been observed in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana.

The highest per cent of Recorded Forest Area affected by forest fire has been observed in Telangana (14.82 per cent), followed by Andhra Pradesh (13.94 per cent) and Bihar (10.71 per cent).

In the State-wise burnt area assessment, Telangana stand third in the chart. The total burnt area in Andhra Pradesh (leads the chart) during the November 2023-June 2024 season was recorded at 5,286.76 square km.

The total burnt area in Maharashtra was recorded at 4,095.04 square km, followed by Telangana, which recorded 3,983.28 square km during the season.

Minister Komatireddy demands Allu Arjun to apologise to CM Revanth

Hyderabad: After slamming Allu Arjun‘s ‘Pushpa 2’ movie on Saturday, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday demanded that the actor tender an apology to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for stating that his image was being damaged. Several other Congress leaders too came out attacking the actor.

Finding fault with the actor for countering the Chief Minister’s remarks made in the Assembly, the Minister said when the issue was being discussed in the House, the actor was claiming that his image was being damaged. “It is absurd that the actor’s legal team did not permit him to visit Sri Tej, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital,” Venkat Reddy said.

Echoing a similar opinion, Government Whip Aadi Srinivas also raised objections over Allu Arjun’s comments and alleged that the actor had no remorse. The Chief Minister had responded to an MLA’s query in the Assembly over the Sandhya theatre incident. Despite police informing the actor that a woman had died in the stampede, he continued to watch the movie, the Government Whip said.

“Is your name and fame important than a woman’s life and a child’s health?” Srinivas asked. Congress MP from Bhongir C Kiran Kumar Reddy said the actor was more concerned about the movie collections than people’s lives. During the press meet, the actor read a script written by his legal team and did not speak like a real hero, he said.
