Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao on Tuesday directed officials of the Horticulture Department to focus on programmes being implemented by the National Horticulture Board and explore possibilities for making maximum use of its support for the benefit of the State.
Reviewing horticulture development programmes, he said the State could not utilise its share of funds from the National Horticulture Board for the last five years. He stressed the need for developing hi-tech commercial horticulture production clusters and cold chains as part of the effort for developing post harvest storage infrastructure in a big way. He wanted the officials also to pay equal attention to Central government schemes such as Oil Palm Area Expansion Programme, National Bamboo Mission and Sub-Mission on Agro-Forestry for development of the horticulture sector in the State.
The Minister said companies tasked with oil palm plantation in the State should speed up their activity so as to realise the targets set for them. He wanted oil palm saplings to be made available adequately to meet the demand from the farmers next year.

Hyderabad: 1. A two-judge bench of Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti on Tuesday disposed a writ appeal in a matter pertaining to challenging the action of Jama Masjid in encroaching a part of the lands allotted to OU employees Society at Shaikpet by declaring it as waqf property.
Manikya Reddy filed this writ appeal in the year 2014 challenging the single bench order of dismissing his writ plea wherein the writ plea, he challenged the waqf tribunal order of declaring his property as waqf property.
The case of the appellant is that Osmania University Employees Cooperative Housing Society Limited was allotted Acs.65.07 cents of land at Shaikpet Village by the State government for construction of houses.
That the society converted the land into plots and distributed the same among its members wherein the appellant has purchased 179 square yards from one of the Society’s member in 2011 and later sold it.
That Jama Masjid and its anti-social elements tried to encroach his property as such he filed a complaint and was also granted a decree by Civil Court, restraining the Jama Masjid to enter into the said property.
Whereas the counsel representing Jama Masjid contends that they have filed a suit before Waqf Tribunal where they sought a declaration stating that the property of the appellant comes under waqf property.
Also, the sale deed executed in transferring the said land will stand null and void.
Observing that the proceedings before Waqf tribunal are pending, the bench disposed the matter by stating that the tribunal has power to decide whether any property belongs to waqf board or not and granted liberty to appellants to raise contentions before the Waqf tribunal.

The Telangana High Court on Monday held that Public Interest Litigation case is not maintainable for Service matters relying on apex court decision, the division bench declined to proceed further in the PIL. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti dealt with a PIL case filed by Telangana Education Development Foundation, challenging the validity of the notification issued on September 9, 2023 regarding vacant teacher posts in various categories i,e, School Assistant, Secondary Grade Teachers, Language Pandits and Physical Education Teachers in Government and Local Body Schools under the control of Director of School Education, Telangana, Hyderabad. The said notification also reveals that vacancies should fill up by way of Direct Recruitment through Departmental Selection Committee. It is the case of the petitioner that the said notification is in not de-reserving the 668 posts of Urdu Medium Teachers reserved for OC, SC, ST, BC and other special categories into general category. The reserved posts are not being filled up since 2006 due to non-availability of reserved candidates as per roster system. On the other hand, special government pleader representing the state contended that the PIL is not maintainable, as per the guidelines of Supreme court a PIL is not permissible so far as service matters are concerned. Speaking for the bench Chief Justice Alok Aradhe asked the Government pleader that how can you keep the posts vacant since 2006, what did you do?, how come they are still vacant?”. The special Government pleader informed the court that approximately 200 posts are filled out of 668 Posts. Observing the said submissions, the bench came to the conclusion as per the apex court orders a PIL Cannot be maintainable in service matters and accordingly disposed the case.
3. Justice Dr. G Radha Rani of Telangana High Court on Tuesday issued notices to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Warangal in a criminal petition filed by Tasleema, Sub-Registrar Officer of Mahabubabad. Tasleema filed this petition seeking directions to ACB to enlarge her on bail. It may be recalled that Tasleema was arrested for alleged collection of bribe from the public for registering the conveyance deeds. The judge posted the matter to April 19 for further hearing.

Karimnagar: An engineering graduate, Kolanupaka Sahana secured the 739th rank in the UPSC Civil Services examination, results of which were announced on Tuesday.
She got the rank in her fourth attempt. A resident of Vidhyanagar, Karimnagar, Sahana pursued her school education in Ken Crest high school in Karimangar and got 9.8 GPA in SSC.
She studied intermediate (MPC) in Gayatri junior college and got 979 marks. She later did her B.Tech (Chemical Engineering) from JNTU, Kukatpalli, Hyderabad, after which she got a job with L&T company. However, she did not join with a view to prepare for the UPSC examination.
In order to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming an IAS officer, she started preparation for civils and took coaching in Delhi.
In the first attempt, she did not even qualify in prelims examination and now won the rank in the fourth attempt. Sahana is the daughter of Geetha and Jayashankara Prasad, who works with a vernacular news daily in Karimnagar.
Her brother is pursuing MBA after completing B.Tech.

Hyderabad: The drug inspectors of Telangana State Drug Control Administration (TSDCA) conducted raids at different locations and busted pharmacies that were operating without drug licenses.
The drug inspectors of TSDCA on Monday conducted raids on a medical shop NAJM Pharmacy located at Noor Khan Bazar, Charminar, which was operating illegally without a drug license. The NAJM Pharmacy was being operated without valid license by Mir Hussain Hyder Razvi.
During the raid, authorities seized 36 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, habit-forming drugs such as Alprazolam Tablets and Codeine Syrups worth Rs 50, 000.
In another raid at Uppal the DCA seized overpriced anti-diabetic drug ‘Tenebetic-20 tablets’ (Teneligliptin tablets IP 20 mg) manufactured by Ind-Swift Limited, Jammu and Kashmir bears MRP as Rs. 151.25 per 10 Tablets on the label of the product which is a violation of Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.
The MRP indicated on the tablets was very high compared to the ceiling price fixed for the product by the Central Government.
In another case, the DCA conducted raids at Sri Sai Super Speciality Dental Hospital, Wanaparthy, which was operating a pharmacy without a drug license, and seized a significant quantity of drugs worth Rs. 80,000 intended for sale. The facility was being operated by a dentist Dr M Venkata Suresh

Hyderabad: Forest officials booked a case against two offenders for hunting a wild boar through electrocution, besides cooking and consuming the meat at Ootla village of Gudur section.
On Saturday, the Forest Range Officer and staff of Gudur range detected a steel binding wire weighing around 15 kg that was laid and connected to a electric line in the Ootla north beat of Gudur section. Upon further investigation, it was found that two persons, including Lavudya Krishna and Sabavathu Danjya, both residents of Ootla, Mahabubabad had committed the offence.
After being apprehended, the accused confessed to the offence. They hunted one Wild Pig (Sus scrofa) through electrocution, besides cooking and consuming the meat. They were arrested on Monday and a case was registered under the Wildlife (Protection) Act by Ootla North Forest Beat Officer Ch. Sumalatha.
Special instructions have been issued to the field staff to continue the Catch the Trap drive and intensify search and screening for snares or traps while inspecting natural water sources and filling artificial water sources. This had helped a lot to apprehend culprits wherever any offences were being committed. This was also aiding in deterring the local people from resorting to hunting, said Chief Wildlife Warden MC Pargaein.

Hyderabad: A two-day Marri Laxman Reddy State level Sports Meet-2024 was successfully conducted by MLR Institute of Technology (MLRIT) between Monday and Tuesday.
The students from MLRIT college achieved outstanding results, winning the overall championships in the sporting event. The senior management of MLRIT said that participation and achievements from students across Telangana from various colleges in the sports meet has been remarkable.

Sangareddy: Former Minister T Harish Rao said the defeat of the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections would be an eye-opener for them for not keeping the promises made during the Assembly election campaign.
Addressing the BRS public meeting at Sulthanpur in Andole mandal on Tuesday, Harish Rao said the Congress government would not keep the promises if they vote for them again. The people need to realise that a defeat in Lok Sabha elections will not dethrone the State government except for teaching the Congress a lesson.
Stating that the Congress government was filing cases against Opposition party leaders when they were questioning them on their failures, he said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had discontinued many schemes that the previous BRS government introduced during the last 10 years. The Congress and BJP had acted against the interests of farmers, he said, calling upon the voters of Zaheerabad and Medak Lok Sabha constituencies to vote for BRS candidates.

Hyderabad:The Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL), which is preparing to take up 232 MW solar plants in the second phase, is facing a tough task in completing the pending 55.5 MW of the proposed capacity of 300 MW of the first phase of the project, which has been delayed due to various reasons.
The project has missed a few deadlines set by the company in the past and it is learnt that the first phase would be completed by August this year. The company had taken up the construction of solar plants with a combined capacity of 300 MW in the first phase, out of which 224 MW including 5 MW floating solar plants have been completed last year and the remaining 76 MW was supposed to be completed by December 2023, but due to various reasons it could not be completed.
In February, the company managed to complete a 10.5 MW solar plant at Ramavaram in Kothagudem town and the remaining 55.5 MW was under various stages. According to SCCL chief (E&M) Power Projects NVK Viswanadha Raju, the pending plants would be completed by August.
The 76 MW projects comprise a 22 MW plant on an overburden dump in the Ramagundam-3 area, a 22.5 MW plant and a 10.5 MW solar plant in the Kothagudem area, an 11 MW plant in Chennur, and a 22 MW plant on an open cast-1 site.
Meanwhile, the company has handed over the 67.5 MW solar power project in the Mandamarri area to Bondada Engineering, an infrastructure engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company. According to Singareni officials, the scope of the contract includes the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of the project, along with setting up the 220 KV transmission system. Bondada will also be responsible for the project’s operation and maintenance for ten years.
As part of the 232 MW second phase solar project, the company has proposed to set up a 67.5 MW plant in 240 acres in Mandamarri, 37 MW plant on 166 acres overburden dump in Ramagundam area and a 27.5 MW plant in 96 acres in Srirampur area.

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police named Raheel Shakeel, son of former BRS MLA from Bodhan, Aamir Shakeel as an accused in a road accident at Jubilee Hills, which was reported in March 2022.
In that accident, a two months old toddler, Ranveer died after falling from the arms of a woman Kajal, when the car, which was allegedly being driven by Raheel hit her while she was crossing the road.
In that case, the police had arrested a person Ahmed, after he surrendered before the police and confessed that he was driving the car.
However, after the recent case where Raheel was arrested for allegedly ramming his luxury car into the traffic barricade near Praja Bhavan, the police reopened the earlier case and took up investigation.
After freshly probing the case, the police concluded that Raheel was driving the car that hit the woman, which resulted in the infant’s death.
