Revanth Reddy admits inability to implement six guarantees; cites financial constraints

He attributed his government’s inability and delay in implementing the six guarantees and other election promises of the Congress to the previous BRS government. He stated that if challenges were being faced in rolling out schemes like Rythu Bharosa, providing financial assistance to tenant farmers, offering a monthly allowance to women, or distributing one tola of gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, the responsibility lay with the actions of the previous administration.

Revanth Reddy admits inability to implement six guarantees; cites financial constraints

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday admitted that the State government was unable to implement the promised six guarantees and other promises, including Rythu Bharosa, due to financial constraints.

Blaming the previous BRS government for his government’s inability and delay in the implementation of the six guarantees and other election promises of the Congress, he said if the State government was facing challenges to implement Rythu Bharosa, extend financial assistance to tenant farmers, monthly allowance to women, and one tola gold as part of Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, the previous government should be held responsible.

Speaking during a short discussion on Rythu Bharosa in the Assembly, the Chief Minister claimed that all the income generated and the loans raised by the State government were being used to pay the interest and principal component of loans raised by BRS government in the past.

“If this burden of repaying the past government’s loans was not imposed on us, I would have done wonders in Telangana,” he claimed, saying that the State government would have offered MSP for all crops, paid Arogyasri bills one month in advance, offered Rythu Bharosa and cleared farmers loans completely if there were no financial issues.

Admitting that he was visiting New Delhi frequently, the Chief Minister said financial experts were consulted to get the loans restructured. If there was any reduction in the interest component on the loans, it would aid in considerable savings for the State government and the same could be used for welfare and development works, he claimed.

The Chief Minister also alleged that the previous government had sold Kokapet lands, ORR and Hitec City to generate money. Now, BRS leaders were opposing welfare and development projects in the State, he alleged, accusing the BRS of opposing establishment of industries, land acquisition for setting up units, Regional Ring Road, radial roads and other projects. If all works were opposed, how development would take place in Telangana, he asked.

In Kodangal constituency, there were three lakh acres and of these, the State government was acquiring 1300 acres in four villages. But the farmers were offered money and instigated against the government, he alleged, stating that the land identified was in a strategic location with highways on both sides. If industrial units came up in the region, it would generate employment for 25,000 to 50,000 youth. But these plans were being opposed and revenue officials were attacked, the Chief Minister said, also threatening to “crush” anyone obstructing development in Kodangal.

Swami Smarananandagiri highlights the power of Kriya Yoga on World Meditation Day

Hyderabad: On the occasion of World Meditation Day, the Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) conducted a transformative workshop at Arya Vaishya Abhyudaya Sangam in Hyderabad. The event, led by Swami Smarananandagiri, Vice President of YSS, was centered on the theme “Kriya Yoga Meditation for a Happy and Successful Life.”

Swami Smarananandagiri emphasized how meditation is not merely a spiritual practice but a practical tool for navigating life’s challenges. He explained that our day-to-day decisions are often influenced by personal preferences or past experiences, which may lead to mixed outcomes.

In contrast, decisions guided by intuition are infallible. “Intuition,” Swamiji said, “is the silent voice of the soul, and it never fails. Through the disciplined practice of Kriya Yoga Meditation, we can awaken and refine this inner guidance system.”

Swamiji described meditation as essential nourishment for the body, mind, and soul, likening it to food that sustains our well-being and clarity. He urged the audience to embrace meditation as a practical solution to life’s challenges, whether personal, professional, or spiritual.

In his talk, Swamiji further highlighted the importance of learning meditation correctly. “If only people knew how to meditate properly, everyone would meditate. Meditation is the universal answer to achieving happiness and success, but it must be practiced with proper guidance,” he said.

Komatireddy says he wasted time watching ‘Pushpa-2’ after visiting Sandhya Theatre tragedy victim

Hyderabad: Hours after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy went all out against Tollywood actor Allu Arjun and squarely blamed him for the Sandhya Theatre tragedy, Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy targeted the actor’s movie, ‘Pushpa-2’ and said he had wasted his time doing so

“I watched Pushpa 2 and during those three hours, many other better things could have been done. Save for history and Telangana related movies, I will not watch Telugu movies anymore,” Komatireddy Venkat Reddy further said, adding youngsters were getting spoiled by the movie.

Debt traps push Sircilla weavers to suicides

Debt traps push Sircilla weavers to suicides

Weavers, who used to get adequate work during previous BRS regime, are unable to get employment
due to lack of government orders including Bathukamma sarees.

Rajanna-Sircilla: Suicide deaths of weavers are continuing in Sircilla textile town. The suicides, which began in January this year after the change of government in the State, saw the latest additions on Friday and Saturday.

Loans borrowed for various needs are being cited as the main reasons for almost all the suicides so far. Unable to clear debts, weavers are taking the extreme step. However, while weaving community is attributing suicides to lack of employment, officials claim all of them were not genuine.

Weavers, who used to get adequate work during the previous BRS government’s tenure, are unable to get employment due to lack of government orders such as Bathukamma sarees and others. As a result, a majority of the weavers as well workers in allied sectors have lost employment opportunities during the last one year. As a result, they are borrowing money to run their families, healthcare and other needs. This has become an additional burden for weavers, who were already reeling under financial troubles.

13 weavers have ended their lives since January this year in Sircilla alone. While seven died up to June, the remaining five ended their lives after August. In the last 24 hours, two people have ended their lives. While Dusa Ganesh ended his life on Friday, Nakka Srinivas was found hanging on Saturday.

However, out of 11 counted by the government, compensation was provided to only two weavers – Bairi Amar (Rs.5 lakh) and Erram Komuraiah (Rs.2 lakh). Amar and his wife Sravanthi ended their lives by hanging in their Venkampet residence on November 9. Amar, who used to run powerlooms besides engaging in small businesses, sold his looms four months before as there was no work during the last seven months. Borrowing some amount, he started a bedsheet and cover manufacturing units. However, he ended up suffering losses. Unable to clear their debts, the couple died by suicide.

Komuraiah had borrowed Rs 10 lakh for the construction of his house and for the weddings of his children. Unable to clear the subsequent financial burden, he ended his life on November 13.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Assistant Director, Handlooms and Textile, M Sagar informed that a three-men committee comprising of Revenue Divisional Officer, AD Handloom and Textiles and Sub-Divisional Police (DSP) was recommending names to the government for compensation after finalizing the genuineness of suicides. So far, compensation was provided to Amar and Komuraiah.

Commenting on the deaths of Ganesh and Srinivas, he said the official opinion was that they were not “genuine” weaver suicides. Ganesh, who had family disputes, had not attended work though his employer asked him to join duty. He borrowed money from a private finance company, who mounted pressure on him to clear debts. Meanwhile, Srinivas was staying away from the weaving profession since 2020 and was engaged in different works including as an autorickshaw driver. Being in the weaving profession was a must to recommend the names for compensation, he said.
