Hyderabad:Osmania University Vice Chancellor Prof. D Ravinder along with Registrar Prof. P Laxminarayana inaugurated a new classroom complex at the University College for Education here on Tuesday. The classroom along with conference space has come up at a cost of Rs.7.50 crore.
In his remarks, the OU VC emphasised the significance of new educational trends, innovative teaching strategies, teacher preparation programmes, and research. To meet them, a good infrastructure was required, he said.
The OU has currently invested an additional Rs 144 crore on infrastructure development initiatives, he said, adding that student hostels along with Centenary Pylon and an administrative building will be available soon.

Leaders Baliram Jadav, Krishna Jadav and members distributed sweets among themselves and danced to drum beats to mark the occasion. They said that the government was covering all sections of the society.
They hailed both Rao and Ramanna for realizing their dream of having a building for their community in Adilabad town.

Hyderabad: The sixth edition of the annual Global Grace Cancer Run-2023, to spread awareness on cancer and raise funds for needy patients for early diagnosis, will be organised at Gachibowli Stadium on October 8.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Stephen Raveendra on Tuesday unveiled the special tee shirt associated with this year’s cancer run, with the theme ‘Be Light’.
A participation of over one lakh people from 130 plus countries is expected, said Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli, senior robotic surgical oncologist and Founder of GRACE (Global Research And Cancer Education) Foundation.
The run will be held in three different categories including 5K, 10K, and 21.1K and over 20,000 participants are expected to participate in the event at Gachibowli. The format is a combination of in-person as well as virtual.

Karimnagar: The cultivation of crops for the present Vanakalam season has reached almost hundred percent of the targeted area in the erstwhile Karimnagar district.
The highest of 107 percent sowing took place in Jagtial district followed by Karimnagar with more than 99 percent, Peddapalli with 98.50 percent and Rajanna-Sircilla with 97.40 percent. Though the crops sowed in the beginning of the season were damaged due to the heavy rains in July, the sowing picked up momentum later on.
Besides irrigation projects, all water bodies including tanks, ponds and others were filled to their brim due to the heavy rains. As a result, the groundwater table has also been recharged in a big way, leading to a majority of farmers opting to cultivate paddy since adequate water for irrigation was available. Irrigated dry (ID) crops, which were damaged due to heavy rains, were also replaced by paddy.
A variety of crops have been sowed in 3.17 lakh acres as against the estimated 3.19 lakh acres for Vanakalam in Karimnagar. In Peddapalli, multiple crops have been cultivated in 2.65 lakh acres as against the estimated 2.69 lakh acres.While cultivation was taken up in 3.65 lakh acres (estimated 3.42 lakh acres) in Jagtial, crops were sowed in 2.27 lakh acres as against an estimated 2.34 lakh acres in Rajanna-Sircilla.
Paddy was sowed in a larger area in Jagtial, in 3.02 lakh acres as against the total cultivated area of 3.65 lakh acres. Maize was sowed in 39,603 acres while cotton was cultivated in 18,490 acres.
In Karimnagar, out of 3.17 lakh acres, paddy was sowed in 2.66 lakh acres, cotton in 44,350 acres and maize in 4,960 acres. In Peddapalli, paddy was sown in 2 lakh acres, cotton in 62,750 acres and maize in 765 acres. In Rajanna-Sircilla, out of 2.27 lakh acres, paddy was sowed in 1.74 lakh acres, cotton in 52,310 acres and maize in 496 acres.

Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police arrested five persons in connection with the murder of a man following a brawl over ‘raita’ on Monday night.
The arrested persons are Surya Prakash (30), Pandu (25) Alamdar (55), Moin (34) and Aziz (23)., all workers of Meridian Hotel. All of them were produced before the court and sent to remand.
Mohd Liyaqath, a resident of Chandrayangutta had gone to the hotel along with his friends when a brawl broke out between the victim and hotel workers when the former demanded extra ‘raita’ (curd).
The Punjagutta police registered a case under Section 302 r/w 34 of IPC. A few more persons were identified in the closed circuit camera footage and efforts were on to nab them.
A police official said the investigation was still on and that they had temporarily closed down the hotel to avoid tampering of any evidence or the scene of the offence.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand had placed under suspension a Sub-Inspector and a head constable of Punjagutta police station for dereliction of duty. Liyaqath had allegedly complained of uneasiness and the policemen apparently did not analyse his health condition and allegedly delayed his shifting from the police station to the hospital.

Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar said a rally along with 25,000 intermediate students would be organised in the town on the occasion of the Karimnagar Medical College being virtually inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on September 15.
NCC cadets and Army training centre students would also participate in the rally to be taken out from Rekurthi to the medical college, he said during a preparatory meeting with officials, public representatives and managements of government and private colleges at the Collectorate conference hall here on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: The Jawaharnagar police arrested five persons, including a father-son duo, for their alleged involvement in the murder of realtor reported on Sunday night. The police seized knives, a car, a scooter and mobile phones from them.
The victim Chatla Venugopal (42), a resident of Laxminarsimha colony in Jawaharnagar, was going on a scooter along with two persons when a group of men travelling in a car dashed into his scooter.
“On being hit by the car, Venugopal, fell on the road near the Chennapuram Cheruvu and the assailants rushed out of the car and slit the victim’s throat using knives before escaping,” said DCP Malkajgiri, R Giridhar.
The arrested persons are Paramkusham Pavan (26), Paramkusham Laxman (54), Shivarathri Suresh (23), Goudi Jagadeesh (26) and M Sai Kiran (23), all residents of Jawaharnagar.
Laxman and Venugopal were having disputes pertaining to 10 acre land parcel located at Jawaharnagar. Recently, Venugopal obtained orders from the court and threatened, Laxman against interfering in the property, said the official.
The father-son duo was waiting for an opportunity to kill him and on Sunday night attacked Venugopal when he was on way to his house.
The arrested persons were produced before the court and remanded.

Siddipet: A UNICEF delegation on Tuesday visited Siddipet and Sangareddy.
Beginning its tour from Siddipet, the delegation visited the Swachh Badi near Siddipet, where Additional Collector Garima Agarwal explained how the municipality was making efforts to educate the people on sanitation and also how the the civic body was also organising out an awareness programme called Ruthu Prema (Menstrual Hygiene). The municipality’s efforts to reduce waste in dump yards by converting them into vermicompost and using them in biogas generation was also explained.
The delegation, which interacted with workers at the Swachh Badi and elected representatives of Siddipet municipality, was impressed by the initiatives and later visited the Government Medical College in Sangareddy. The delegates interacted with doctors and students at the Medical College.

Hyderabad: TS Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TSRERA) Chairman N Satyanarayana directed all the RERA registered builders and promoters to submit the quarterly and annual audit reports by this month end.
Instructions have been issued to the builders and promoters to upload the audit reports on the RERA website through promoters’ login. The quarterly reports should be uploaded before January 15, April 15 and October 15. Similarly, the annual audit reports should be submitted within six months after the closure of a financial year.
Already, this information has been shared with the builders and promoters through messages, emails and notices. Accordingly, all of them have been directed to submit the reports by this month end, the RERA Chairman said in a statement here on Tuesday.
Forms 4, 5 and 6 for submitting the quarterly reports and form 7 have been made available on the website. Builders and promoters have to download the forms and upload the details on the RERA website.
As per RERA norms, action would be initiated against those, who fail to submit the reports, he added.

Hyderabad: Representatives of 10 companies, including Tata Solar Power, attended the pre-bid meeting organised by the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to develop 232 MW of solar projects at different sites of the company on Tuesday. The last date for the submission of bids is September 25.
In addition to Tata Solar Power, representatives of leading companies like Enrich Energy, Novas Green Engineering and Earth In Project participated in the meeting. Singareni officials explained to them about the project and the details of the solar plants to be undertaken by SCCL in eight areas.
The three separate tenders issued include a 67.5 MW capacity, 134.5 MW across four locations, and 30 MW capacity across three different sites. The estimated construction cost of these plants to be built at eight locations across Singareni is Rs 1,348 crore.
