Kothagudem: The district police organised a peace committee meeting here on Saturday with leaders of different religions in view of ensuing Ganesh Navaratri celebrations.
Kothagudem DSP Shaik Abdul Rahaman speaking at the meeting suggested celebrating Ganesh festival which would start from Sep 18 in a peaceful manner without scope for any untoward incident.
The Ganesh festival committees of Kothagudem town and surrounding areas should first inform the concerned police station before setting up Ganesh Mandapams.
Everyone has to follow the guidelines given by the police, the DSP said. Rahaman appealed to religious leaders to inform the police immediately if any problem arises during the celebrations.
He also received suggestions from the religious leaders. CIs Peddanna Kumar, Karunakar, Ramesh, Murali and others participated in the meeting.

Hyderabad: Stating that the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PRLI) project would address drinking and irrigation water requirements of the erstwhile Palamuru and Rangareddy districts, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had completed the project despite facing many challenges and hurdles.
“Inauguration of the Palamuru Rangareddy project on September 16 will be a historic occasion in Telangana,” Rama Rao said while reviewing arrangements for the inauguration ceremony here on Saturday. The Chief Minister will be inaugurating the project.
The Palamuru Rangareddy project would transform the barren lands of erstwhile Palamuru into fertile lands. There was a time when lakhs of people from Palamuru had migrated to different places for livelihood but now through the project, lakhs of acres would get water for irrigation, he said.
The Kaleshwaram project on River Godavari, Palamuru Rangareddy project on River Krishna and once the Sitarama project gets completed, the projects in irrigation sector in the State would reach saturation level, the Minister said.
“The way the State government constructed these projects under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, it is not just a matter of pride for Telangana people but for citizens of India as well,” Rama Rao said.
The plans for constructing the Palamuru Rangareddy project were made way back in 2001. The project plans were taking shape in the Chief Minister’s vision since the days of the separate State agitation, he said.
Apart from providing water for irrigation, this project would also supply drinking water for Hyderabad and industrial requirements. Since the inauguration of this project would a great milestone in the State, the occasion has to be celebrated on a grand note, he said.
Awareness should be created among the people over the significance of this project. At least 1.5 lakh farmers would be participating in the inauguration ceremony and there should be largescale festivities, the Minister added.

A control room detected that a drone was being flown in central Delhi’s West Patel Nagar area. It alerted the police and a team was rushed to the spot, a senior police officer said on Saturday.

New Delhi: A drone over central Delhi while world leaders arrived for the G20 Summit! Police personnel scrambled and reached the spot – only to find that a photographer was using one to capture to best effect a birthday party.
The drama unfolded on Friday evening, when the city went into virtual lockdown ahead of the summit.
A control room detected that a drone was being flown in central Delhi’s West Patel Nagar area. It alerted the police and a team was rushed to the spot, a senior police officer said on Saturday.
After reaching the spot, one Vineet had organised a party for the first birthday of his nephew on the terrace of his house. He had arranged a drone to cover the celebration, the officer said.
An inquiry found that the drone belonged to one Harmanjeet Singh (29), a resident of Shadi Khampur, and was being flown by him during the party, the police said.
Police checked the video clips recorded by the drone camera and seized the device, they added.
A case has been registered against Harmanjeet Singh at Patel Nagar police station for violation of the prohibition on the use of drones and other flying objects. He has been booked under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code, the officer said.
The Delhi Police had prohibited the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like paragliders, hang-gliders and hot air balloons in Delhi from August 29 to September 12 for security reasons.
The national capital, especially the New Delhi district, has been put under a security blanket as heads of state from across the world have arrived in the city to attend the two-day G20 Summit.
The Delhi Police is being assisted by over 50,000 security personnel, K9 dog squads, mounted police and the Central Armed Police Forces.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A head constable working with the Asifabad police station died of a heart stroke at his home here on Tuesday night.
The constable, Kudmetha Jalpath Rao (53), collapsed after complaining of chest pain and died while being shifted to hospital. He had begun his career with the police department as a constable in 1990. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. He hailed from Sirpur (U) mandal, but had settled in Jainoor mandal.
Superintendent of Police K Suresh Kumar and DSP Srinivas, Inspectors Suresh and Rana Prathap consoled the bereaved family members of Rao. Suresh Kumar said all support would be extended to the family. He said that Rao discharged duties with commitment and dedication.

Nizamabad: In the wake of forthcoming polls to the State assembly, the district police have started identifying problematic bordering villages and measures to be taken to control the supply of liquor and cash during the election.
Nizamabad Police Commissioner V Satyanarayana, who held a review meeting to discuss various issues concerning the ensuing assembly polls with the officials of Police, Excise, Commercial, Road Transport, Forest and Revenue Departments on Saturday, asked them to set up check posts at the border areas of the State and set up special surveillance to control the movement of ganja and other narcotics and to take strict action against the criminals.
The Police Commissioner asked his men to give special attention to the problematic villages bordering Nirmal, Adilabad, Kamareddy, Jagityal, Rajanna Siricilla and Nanded districts.
He asked officials to set up Inter-State check posts at Salura, Kandgan, Kandakurti, Pothangal, and inter-district check posts at Dodgan (Sone), Brahmangari Gutta, Sirikonda, Indalvai, Mallaram Gandi, Yancha (Basara).
He directed senior police officials to increase patrolling on highways and mobile patrolling in the borders and establish WhatsApp groups for the police officers working in the bordering villages to keep watch on the flow of cash, liquor and criminal activities.
Superintendent of Police of Adilabad District D Udaya Kumar, Nirmal District CH Praveen Kumar, Jagtial District I Bhaskar and Kamareddy District B Srinivas Reddy were present.

Mahabubabad: A 55-year-old man died in a blast at a granite quarry in Arpanapally village of Kesamudram Mandal in the district in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Shaik Ameer Pasha, a resident of the same village. He was working at the quarry when the blast occurred. It is alleged that Pasha died due to negligence in taking precautions during the blast. Blasting during the night or early hours is against the norms.
The local police have visited the spot and are investigating the matter. Pasha is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.
Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud inaugurated the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) at HICC, Madhapur today

Hyderabad: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Telangana Tourism department was planning to set up wellness centres at different reservoirs to boost tourism prospects.
The worldwide demand for wellness centres services, especially after the Covid pandemic, had increased drastically. Yoga was being practised extensively across the globe but unfortunately it was not the case in India and the State government was planning to boost this segment, he said.
The Minister inaugurated the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) at HICC, Madhapur here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he said there was a historically significant place in every district in the State and the tourism department was planning to develop several destinations.
“We seek your suggestions and ideas to increase foreign and domestic tourists’ arrivals into Telangana. Singapore and Malaysia are predominantly tourism based countries as it generates employment and revenue. In Telangana, there is plenty of scope for increasing tourism prospects” Srinivas Goud said.
The TTF was launched on Saturday and is open to public on Sunday.

Hyderabad: Hyderabadis witnessed sporadic and scattered showers on Saturday, and the city is expected to continue to see a similar weather pattern throughout the week, with light to moderate rainfall.
On Saturday evening, many parts of the city, including Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Gachibowli, Chanda Nagar, Mehedipatnam, Madhapur, Moosapet, Shaikpet, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, and other areas, experienced brief and isolated showers of less than 10 mm, lasting for about 10-15 minutes.
According to the forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Hyderabad, the next four days in Hyderabad will have a “generally cloudy sky. Possibility of light to moderate rains or thundershowers.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has warned of stringent action against those who open manholes on city roads.
Taking precautions, the authorities installed safety grills over more than 22,000 manholes in the city and those on the main roads have been sealed and marked red to indicate danger. A team headed by a sewer inspector has been formed for each area to monitor the manholes from time to time.
In addition to inspecting the manholes every day in the morning, these teams will clear rainwater in coordination with GHMC. The Emergency Response Team (ERT), Monsoon Safety Team (MST), and Safety Protocol Team (SPT) vehicles have also been deployed, along with providing protective equipment to the staff working at the field level.
These vehicles, equipped with a dewatering motor with a generator, will mainly concentrate on removing rainwater from water-logged areas in the city. Along with these, air tech machines are also made available. If any manhole cover is damaged or found to be open, citizens can contact HMWSSB at 155313.

Kothagudem: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has called upon the BRS workers to make sincere efforts to win 10 Assembly seats in Kothagudem and Khammam districts for the BRS’ hat-trick victory in ensuing Assembly elections.
The minister along with the local MLA Rega Kantha Rao launched various development works with Rs 35.40 crore at different places in Pinapaka constituency on Saturday.
He inaugurated Kasturba Gandhi Balika’ Vidyalaya (KGBV) constructed with Rs.2.70 crore in Burgampadu and Rathangutta Urban Park at Manugur. He laid the foundation stone for a new TSRTC bus stand, CC roads, drains and other development works at Manugur.
Addressing a gathering Ajay Kumar lauded Kantha Rao as a hard working MLA with focus on the development of the constituency. It was because of the MLA’s efforts Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao sanctioned Rs 25 crore SDF funds, he said.
Hitting at Congress leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy the minister said that hugging people and making false allegations against the State government would not yield any result. The Congress party was a sinking ship and its revival was impossible.
The BRS government works for the welfare of poorer sections. The government has given pattas to tribals for 1.51 lakh acres of podu land in Kothagudem district. It was a feat no government in the past has achieved and it shows the government’s concern towards tribals.
The Chief Minister has taken up Sita Rama Lift Irrigation project with Rs 13,000 crore to provide irrigation to lakhs of acres and supply drinking water, Ajay Kumar noted.
Earlier in the day, the minister launched road widening and central lighting works in Khammam and addressed an Athmeeya Sammelanam. He said that developing Khammam was his full time task and has no other business.
Because of the development works executed in Khammam city and surrounding areas the land prices shot up phenomenally. People from other districts and States were showing interest to buy lands in Khammam, Ajay Kumar said.
