Hyderabad: A woman doctor from the city became the latest victim of cyber fraud and lost nearly Rs 1.4 lakh after failing for a fake online clothing offer.
According to available information, the victim received a message on her mobile phone about an opportunity to purchase branded clothing, which led her to a link for booking the items online. Further, on clicking the link, she was directed to a series of deceptive tasks, ultimately leading to a financial loss.
The victim alleged that the scammers had initially transferred a small amount to her bank account, convincing her they would send the clothing soon. However, they claimed that she had to complete certain tasks and then earn the profits and subsequently cheated her.
Based on the complaint, the cybercrime police booked a case and took up investigation.
