Hyderabad: Ridiculing the claims of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy about farmers welfare and development of the State in last one year, Former Minister and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao accused Revanth Reddy of making false claims about farmers welfare during “Rythu Panduga” organised to celebrate one year in power.
Alleging that the claims made by the Chief Minister were false and far from reality, Harish Rao said the Congress government failed to fulfil promises made to farmers of the State. All the hopes of farmers on the government making an announcement over crop loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa for Vanakalam and Yasangi were dashed. Not to mention the promises made to tenant farmers and farm labourers, he said.
He charged that the Chief Minister had deceived the farmers yet again at the Rythu Panduga programme. “Congress was claiming a patent for the Rythu Bima scheme launched by BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao,”he said.
Countering the Chief Minister’s claim that 1.53 crore tonnes paddy was cultivated due to the projects constructed during the Congress, the former Minister said the projects were operational in 2014 as well, but why was only 68 lakh paddy cultivated then?he asked, adding that how 1.68 crore metric tonnes were produced by 2023-24.
The former Minister also sought to know how the 1.31 lakh acres in 2014-15 had increased to 2.21 lakh acres by 2023. Stressing that farmers had to suffer land loss for development, whom the chief minister was trying to threaten?he asked. Despite the tribal farmers of Lagacharla opposing pharma villages, the Congress government put them in prison, he said, adding that now, the Chief Minister was shedding crocodile tears.
On the Chief Minister’s charges that the BRS had failed to complete pending irrigation projects in Mahabubnagar during its tenure, Harish Rao countered saying that only 27,000 acres were provided water through Kalwakurthy, Bima,Nettempadu and Koyal Sagar project till 2014. This was increased to 6.5 lakh acres by the BRS government, he reminded. Similarly, 90 percent of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) was completed by the BRS government, he said, adding that even after one year the Congress government had failed to complete the balance work.
“CM should prove that BRS chief farm house was spread over 1000 acres. Failing which he should quit as CM,” Harish Rao challenged.
The former Minister said the BRS was keen to expose the Congress government’s failure at the assembly. “Will the BRS members be provided with sufficient time and mike in the House?” he asked.
