Hyderabad: Laxman netted a brace to lead Cantonment FC to a 3-0 win over Young Sporting FC in the Telangana Football Association’s C Division Football League in Gymkhana Football Ground on Tuesday.
For the winners, Laxman opened the scoring in the 33rd minute of the game and Sampath doubled their lead in the 80th minute. Right before the final whistle, Laxman scored his second and team’s third to seal the game.
In the other game at Bowenpally, Bollarum Sporting FC edged past Secunderabad Blues Junior FC 2-1. For the winners, Laxman and Mohit netted in the 22nd and 67th minutes, while Sameer scored the only for Secunderabad in the 53rd minute of the game.

The State swimmer Sai Nihar Bikkina clocked a timing of 2:12.88s to clinch a gold medal in the 200m medley event in the Khelo India University Games.

Hyderabad: Sai Nihar Bikkina, a student of Telangana KLEF University, clinched a gold medal in the 200m medley event in the Khelo India University Games held at Dr Zakir Hussain Swimming pool in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The State swimmer clocked a timing of 2:12.88s to finish ahead of Utsab Datta of West Bengal State University and L Manikanta of Jain University Karnataka in second and third places respectively. Nihar also had a good outing in the 200m backstroke, finishing second with a timing of 2:12.90s behind Subhasish Dey of Adamas University, who clocked 2:11.81s to seal the top spot.

Hyderabad: Skipper N Thakur Tilak Verma and Rahul Singh’s quick-fire half-centuries ensured Hyderabad remained unbeaten in the season and record a five-wicket win over Meghalaya in the final of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Resuming the day at 71/1 needing another 127 runs for the victory, the home side lost overnight batter Tanay Thyagarajan (26) in the opening minutes of the game as Chengkam Sangma ended Thyagarajan and Rahul Singh’s 88-run partnership for the second wicket.
Tilak came to the crease and opened his account with a boundary of the first ball. The Hyderabad skipper showcased his intent to finish the game quickly scoring 16 runs of six balls which included three fours. However, the home sides’ progress was slowed down after the dismissal of Rahul, who smashed 62 runs off 40 balls. C Sangma was leaking runs but was able to send both the overnight batters to the pavilion.
Tilak, on the other hand, played his shots fearlessly and was joined by Rohit Rayudu. The skipper smashed the day’s first six in Raj Biswa’s second over and was followed by another one by Rayudu in the same over. Both players looked in a hurry to finish off the match.
The skipper brought up his half-century with a boundary in the 28th over. However, with just seven runs needed to win, Tilak was caught at the slip and walked back to the dressing room after scoring an entertaining 64 runs off 50 balls which included six fours and two sixes. Rayudu also followed his skipper to the pavilion after being dismissed by Aryan Bora.
Chandan Sahani then took his side past the finish line with a maximum. Hyderabad will compete in the Elite Group in the next season.
HCA chief announces cash reward
Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president A Jagan Mohan Rao announced a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh to the team after their victory, on Tuesday. He also announced cash rewards of Rs 50,000 for captain Tilak Varma, Tanmay Agarwal, Tanay Thyagarajan, Nitish Reddy and Pragnay Reddy who did well for the team in the season.
Further, Jagan Mohan also promised to reward the Hyderabad team with Rs 1 crore and a BMW car to each player if they win the Ranji Trophy title in the next three years.
Iran’s national table tennis squad comprised of Noshad Alamian, Nima Alamian, and Amir-Hossein Hodaei defeated their rivals from Egypt 3-1 and secured their spot in the knockout stages of the sporting event.
Previously in the tournament, the Iranian team won 3-0 against Thailand but lost 3-1 against Portugal.
The next match for Iran will be against Romania on Tuesday, which will be the final match of the group stage.
Iran was drawn along with Romania, Egypt, Portugal, and Thailand in the group stage.

Indian team INDE Racing secured a historic third place finish at FIM e-xplorer World Cup in Osaka, Japan.

Hyderabad: Indian team INDE Racing, the country’s first ever FIM-licensed team, secured a historic third place finish at FIM e-xplorer World Cup in Osaka, Japan on Monday.
The team led by reigning champion Sandra Gomez and Spenser Wilton, who is of Indian descent, showcased their talent in navigating the challenging course with finesse and speed. Their exceptional skills with the team’s strategic approach and cutting-edge technology, propelled INDE Racing to a very creditable 121 points overall.
The overall race ended with the Japanese Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) claiming the top spot with 132 points and Robbie Maddison Racing finished in second spot with 131 points. “This podium finish is a significant and historic milestone for Indian motorsport on a global stage. It is testament to our hard work and collective effort especially given this is our debut season and the first race we have competed in at this level,” said Abhishek Reddy Kankanala, owner of KSG and INDE Racing.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Black Hawks picked an unbelievable comeback win in the third season of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League powered by A23, defeating the Mumbai Meteors 7-15, 12-15, 15-10, 15-11, 20-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Monday.
Ashamat Ullah was named the Player of the Match. Hon’ble Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development for Government of Tamil Nadu, Shri Udhayanidhi Stalin was also in attendance and greeted the players before the start of play.
Amit Gulia began well, taking Mumbai Meteors ahead with sensational pipe attacks. Hyderabad relied on setter Lal Sujan MV to play to the middle. But the Hawks made a few unforced errors early on to put themselves in a sticky spot. Shubham Chaudhary became involved in the zone 5, and with his powerful smashes, put Meteors in control.
Riding on Hemanth’s attacking spikes, the Hawks found an opening into the contest. Stefan Kovacevic started finding his footing with the attacks from the middle and Hyderabad began clawing their way back. But the trio of Amit, Ajith Lal, and Shubham proved to be triple effective and Mumbai regained their momentum.
The middle blocker Shameem came on strong for Meteors in the middle to stop Hyderabad’s attacks. Hemanth kept having his moments in the attack and he once again managed to put a halt to Mumbai’s momentum. Mumbai’s service errors became a concern as the game progressed, and Ashamat Ullah started having a say in the match for Hyderabad. With aggressive play from the service, Ashamat revived the Hawks.
As the game went to the fifth set, Mumbai looked to reduce errors, while Hyderabad kept attacking from the middle to stay in control. Shubham’s aggressive serves from the base line threatened Hawks, but Mumbai’s risky Super Point move did not pay off, and Hyderabad came out the victors in the epic thriller.
After the conclusion of the sixth and final round, Afreen, with five points, emerged winner in the tie-break.

Hyderabad: The Indian Pro Boxing League (IPBL) and the Indian Boxing Council (IBC) collaborated with Rana Daggubati’s SouthBay to launch ‘BoxingBay’ to promote professional boxing in the country.
The inaugural BoxingBay Tour in Hyderabad will feature four fight nights at the Prost Brewpub on February 29 and March 14 and at ANTHM on March 7 and 28. The BoxingBay Fight Nights aim to integrate professional boxing into the pop culture of India and will feature the top 20 professional boxers from across the world who will battle for glory.
“BoxingBay Fight Nights is more than just a series of sporting events; it’s a cultural movement designed to infuse a new wave of energy into the sport of boxing.
