Velayati holds phone calls with Palestinian groups leaders

Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for international affairs made the remarks in separate phone calls to two Palestinian resistance groups leaders, Islamic Jihad Secretary General Ziyad Nakhala and Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh on Wednesday amid the ongoing Al-Aqsa Storm Operation.

“Muslims salute these sacrifices and proud actions by Palestinian fighters who honorably defend,” Velayati said in the calls.

He further said that the Muslims fully support the Palestinian resistance.

The advisor to the Leader further said that, “No doubt, the Zionists are the main losers of this valuable and decisive historical scene, which is a turning point in their advancement.”

“Recent events have shown that the era of remarkable dignified life of Muslims has clearly begun while the expansionism of Zionists and their supporters is declining,” he added.

Ayatollah Sistani condemns Israeli’s savagery in Gaza, urges intl. action to end atrocities

Iraq’s top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has condemned the bloody onslaught launched by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to act swiftly to put an end to the atrocities committed by the regime in the besieged territory.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ayatollah Sistani’s office described the ongoing situation in Gaza as a catastrophe taking place before the eyes of the entire world.

The statement said almost no place in Gaza is currently safe for the people after five days of bombardment which has left behind massive destruction and killed and injured some 6,000 people.

It said the occupying regime’s imposition of a total blockade on Gaza which has cut food, water and medicine supplies to the coastal territory shows that the regime is seeking to compensate its losses in recent confrontation with Palestinian fighters by wreaking vengeance on the people of Gaza.

The entire world should stand against this terrifying savagery and prevent the continuation of plots by the occupying forces seeking to inflict more harm on the oppressed people of Palestine, said the statement.

The statement added that the only way to restore peace and security to the region is to put an end to some seven decades of grievances of the people of Palestine by giving them their legitimate rights and ending the occupation of their territories.

“Ending the tragedy of this honorable people, which has been ongoing for seven decades, by attaining them their legitimate right and ending the occupation from their usurped lands, is the only way to achieve peace and security in this region,” read part of the statement.

“Without that, the resistance will continue against aggressors and the cycle of violence will continue to claim more innocent lives,” the statement added.

Israel’s bloody campaign against Gaza started on October 7 when the Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement launched a blitz into the occupied territories, killing hundreds of Israeli settlers and military forces.

The resistance front says Operation al-Aqsa Storm is a legitimate, natural response to Israel’s mounting atrocities and violations at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Gaza, a tiny coastal strip of land, is home to some 2.3 million people who have been living under a blockade since Hamas took control there in 2007.

There is no growing concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza as trapped residents are cut off from food, water and electricity.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said on Wednesday that crucial life-saving supplies, including fuel, food and water, must be allowed into Gaza.

“We need rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access now,” he told reporters.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric later said, “Civilians need to be protected. We do not want to see a mass exodus of Gazans.”

'We are being bombed in total silence' by Israel, journalist says

We are being bombed in total silence, said human rights activist and journalist Maha Hussaini, describing the current situation in Gaza as her biggest fear and accusing Israel of cutting off residents in the enclave from the outside world, as fierce Israeli airstrikes continued on Wednesday.

Israel has vowed swift punishment for the deadliest Palestinian militant attack in its 75-year history, which left corpses strewn around a music festival and a kibbutz community.

Israel’s death toll rose to 1,200 with over 2,700 wounded, its military said, from the militants’ hours-long rampage after breaching the border fence enclosing Gaza on Saturday.

Israel has already tightened its blockade of Gaza, fully banning food and fuel imports and cutting the electricity supply. Israeli minister for military affairs Yoav Gallant warned that the price Gaza would pay “will change reality for generations.”

“Israel is gradually trying to ban telecommunication companies and disrupt telecommunication services in Gaza, so that a genocide, bombing and wiping out of entire neighborhood and residential blocks would be done with complete blackout, without those people speaking up or speaking to the world,” added Hussaini.

Since the start of the war on Saturday, residents fled their houses in the Gaza Strip, and some have sought refuge in UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) schools.

“There are no shelters by the definition of shelters in the Gaza strip,” said the country relation manager for the MENA Oxfam, Najla Shawa, adding that UNRWA schools have reached there maximum capacity.

On October 10, Israel refused a request to bring food and medical supplies into the Gaza Strip, Hussein al-Sheikh, secretary general of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization PLO, said.

The passage of people and goods is strictly controlled under a blockade of Gaza enforced by Egypt and Israel, and was closed for the movement of goods, according to the United Nations humanitarian office.

“The operation resulted in several confirmed casualties among Israeli occupation soldiers,” the statement added.

“The Islamic Resistance reiterates its determination to provide a firm and unyielding response to Israeli assaults that threaten the security of our homeland and the well-being of our citizens, particularly when such actions result in the tragic loss of our martyrs.”

Askaleon targeted with rockets again on Wednesday:

Two Zionists were injured as a result of a rocket attack in Ashkelon, media have reported.

At least two people are wounded in a rocket strike in Ashkelon, Magen David Adom said, according to Times of Israel.

“Both people, including a man in his 40s with shrapnel wounds, are lightly hurt,” the regime’s media added.

EU asks Musk to censor news over Israel’s war in Gaza

The European Union is asking Elon Musk to censor information not conforming to the Western narrative over Israel’s war of aggression against Palestinians in Gaza.

The EU called on Musk, the billionaire owner of the social media website X, to curb the spread of what it called “disinformation” on X, formerly known as Twitter, about Israel’s aggression against the Palestinians.

In a letter to Musk shared on social media on Tuesday, EU industry chief Thierry Breton claimed that he had indications that X was purportedly being employed to disseminate what he called illegal content and disinformation in the European bloc.

The EU senior official stressed that “violent and terrorist content” had not been taken down, despite warnings as is required by EU law.

“I therefore invite you to urgently ensure that your systems are effective, and report on the crisis measures taken to my team,” Breton said in his letter to Musk, reminding the X’s owner that he needed to have “proportionate and effective mitigation measures to tackle the risks to public security and civic discourse stemming from disinformation.”

As a platform subject to Europe’s Digital Services Act (DSA), X could face billions in fines if regulators conclude that violations have occurred.

Breton further strongly urged Musk to send “a prompt, accurate and complete response to this request within the next 24 hours.”

In an exchange on X, Musk was quick to respond, telling Breton, “Our policy is that everything is open source and transparent, an approach that I know the EU supports. Please list the violations you allude to on X, so that that the public can see them.”

Breton on Wednesday replied, telling Musk, “You are well aware of your users’ — and authorities’— reports on fake content and glorification of violence.”

“Up to you to demonstrate that you walk the talk. My team remains at your disposal to ensure DSA compliance, which the EU will continue to enforce rigorously,” Breton added.

“We take our actions in the open. No back room deals. Please post your concerns explicitly on this platform,” Musk responded.

Earlier, the BBC came under immense pressure for using the term fighter for members of Hamas, according to a report.

A Tuesday report published by the Daily Express said that members of the British parliament as well as pro-Israeli media outlets and politicians in Britain have been criticizing the BBC for refusing to refer to Hamas members as “terrorists,” instead calling them “fighters” and “militants.”

It said critics believe the BBC should comply with a proscription issued by the British government which designates Hamas as a terrorist organization.

The report indicated that hard-line pro-Israeli politicians view BBC’s use of the words fighter and militant as a way of giving legitimacy to Hamas while claiming that the practice is anti-Semitic.

Exclusive: Palestinian journalists narrate horror scenes as Israel bombards Gaza

By Hiba Morad

Surrounded by debris of buildings destroyed in the Israeli regime’s shelling in the besieged Gaza Strip, Palestinian journalist Maha Shahwan said she and other Gazans might be killed any time but they stand firmly behind the resistance movement fighting the apartheid regime.

Speaking to the Press TV website, Shahwan said they are “willing to give up everything” for the Palestinian cause and for the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which has been repeatedly desecrated by Israeli settlers in recent months and was one of the triggers for the ‘Al-Aqsa Storm’ operation.

Since the operation was launched in the early hours of Saturday, more than a thousand Israeli regime soldiers and settlers have been killed and hundreds more are held as prisoners of war in Gaza.

The Israeli warplanes, in a knee-jerk reaction, have been indiscriminately pounding the civilian areas in the coastal strip, resulting in the killing of hundreds of civilians, mostly women and children.

The regime has also intensified its crippling blockade of the Gaza Strip, denying them basic supplies as well as water, gas and electricity, according to Palestinian media reports.

Press TV website spoke to several Palestinian journalists and activists in the besieged strip, who described the horror they are living and their unwavering determination to back the resistance.

“We are expecting death any moment amid the Israeli savageness and indiscriminate bombardment, our loved ones, family members, and friends are being killed here and there across Gaza,” said Shahwan.

“But the Israeli regime and its supporters must know that we are willing to give up everything, even our lives for the sake of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the cause of Palestine.”

Mohammad Atallah, a Gaza-based journalist, echoed the same sentiment in a conversation with the Press TV website, saying desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is unacceptable to Palestinians.

“This is something Israelis probably do not understand. Palestinians consider Al-Aqsa mosque as part of their sanctities, and sanctities are part of their belief and creeds,” he emphasized.

“This is not something we will ever be willing to give up on and this is what makes all Palestinians stand behind the resistance and support it unconditionally.”

Less than five minutes of sleep

On the situation inside the Gaza Strip amid the Israeli bombardment, Shahwan said the ear-splitting sound of shelling has kept them awake all these days and nights, but they aren’t afraid.

“I can tell you that we are able to sleep no longer than five minutes and the sound of explosions that take place literally in every street and every alley across the strip are keeping us awake,” she said.

“Internet connection is very weak and limited, electricity cuts reach up to 21 hours per day, so we only have power for 3 hours and scarce water supply,” she said with the sound of explosions in the background.

“So you see you can also hear the explosions as we speak, this is how it has been here,” she added, as the sound of explosions hitting residential buildings got louder.

Israeli strikes across Gaza have led to hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries to civilians.

According to Palestinian reports, the death toll in the Gaza Strip since Saturday has reached the 1,000 mark, with more than 250 of them being children, pointing to the Israeli savagery.

The Israeli assault on Al-Aqsa mosque before the resistance launched the operation was what angered and hurt all Palestinians, Shahwan noted, sounding furious.

“We will stand up for ourselves, young and old, armed and disarmed, fighters and civilians, and there is no room to surrender or retreat.”

Stronger and resolute

Touching on the role of the Palestinian resistance and the operations it has carried out, the Gaza-based journalist said all Palestinians are proud of the “mujahideen” as they resist the occupiers and usurpers.

“We are proud of the resistance and its operations against the Israeli occupying forces. It is true that the Palestinian resistance always surprises us with new moves, but this was unexpected,” she said in a detailed conversation with the Press TV website.

“To see our resistance fighters on occupied land, infiltrating and taking control of illegal settlements, engage with Israeli soldiers on the ground, take them as prisoners, and the images of hundreds of Israeli soldiers and settlers running away is unprecedented in the history of occupied Palestine.”

Shahwan described how the people of Gaza used to feel left out and abandoned most of the time, with little support from the outside world.

“This courage and resistance of our Palestinian fighters made us grow stronger again,” she exclaimed.

Speaking to the Press TV website, the editor of Quds News Network Youssef Abu Watfa pointed out differences in ethics at war that the Palestinian resistance and Israeli occupation army show.

“While Palestinian resistance fighters refuse to harm Israeli children and women, Israel has been randomly targeting houses, mosques, schools, residential and administrative towers, residential compounds and infrastructure, with videos showing children and babies killed in Israeli strikes,” she said.

“This is the difference between Muslim Palestinians and Zionist Israelis. We keep our ethics at war because our background is Islam; a religion of humanity and mercy.”

Painful scenarios on the ground

Youssef, who is also a photographer, said the scenes on the ground are very graphic and painful.

“There were dismantled body parts in the middle of the rubble as we were trying to save the victims of the Israeli airstrikes and pull out the corpses of the martyrs,” he told the Press TV website.

“You cannot but shed tears at the sight of tiny bodies covered with blood and dirt.”

Palestinian journalist Mohammad Atallah also maintained that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating due to non-stop Israeli bombardment across the coastal strip.

“Many Palestinians, especially women and children, rushed to UNURWA buildings which they thought could be a safe place for them. However, one of these buildings, a UNURWA school, was also hit by Israeli missiles,” Mohammad said over the phone as sounds of explosions echoed in the background.

“What we see on the ground is unbelievable. Civil defense and rescue teams have been working 24/7 since the first day of the war to pull survivors and dead civilians from under the rubble.”

According to Gazans who spoke to the Press TV website, Palestinians there are being randomly bombarded, with children and infants being among the casualties, dying under the piles of rubble as Israeli warplanes level entire residential compounds to the ground such as the al-Rimal neighborhood.

Hospitals in the besieged strip are packed with injured Palestinians and bodies of martyrs.

“A friend of mine, who is a surgeon at al-Shifaa Hospital, told me that last night more than 250 injured Palestinians arrived at the hospital at once and that ambulances are also targeted by Israeli warplanes,” Mohammad told the Press TV website.

He said hospitals lack the capacity as there is already a shortage of equipment and medicine and medical staff due to the ongoing siege on the Gaza Strip that the Israeli regime has imposed for years.

“Whatever it takes, we shall continue to resist because this movement is just,” he hastened to add.

Iranians to hold nationwide marches Friday to show solidarity with Palestinians

Iranian cities will on Friday be a scene of street rallies in condemnation of the Israeli regime’s savage attacks against the besieged Gaza Strip, like many other cities across the Muslim community and the wider world.

The regime has over the past days pressed ahead with its relentless bombardment of the coastal strip, leaving over 1,050 dead and 5,100 injured.

Israel has ordered a total siege of Gaza, cutting off electricity, fuel and food for the 2.3 million Palestinians, most of whom live in poverty.

Mohsen Mahmoudi, the deputy head of Iran’s Coordination Council for Islamic Propagation, said the “savageries of the blood-thirsty Zionists” including the attacks on defenseless women and children, destruction of houses and the total blockade imposed on the strip, has exposed their nature.

“Today the Muslim world and humanity faces a big test. Supporting the oppressed Palestinian nation and condemning the occupying regime’s atrocities is a religious and humanitarian duty,” he said.

He said the Saturday attack by the Palestinian movement Hamas on Israel destroyed the myth of power of the evil Zionist regime.

The Palestinian Hamas resistance group waged Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against Israel on Saturday in response to Israel’s continued atrocities and its acts of desecration against al-Aqsa Mosque

Hamas’ Saturday operation included missile attacks on Israeli cities and ground assaults on settlements near Gaza. That operation plus retaliatory missile strikes by Palestinian resistance groups have so far left more than 1,200 Israelis dead.

Hamas has now called for mobilization of the Arab and Islamic world on Friday in support of Gaza, describing it as a day of “heroism and sacrifice.”

“This is an appeal to our Palestinian people and the masses of the Arab and Islamic world and people of the free world,” Hamas said on Tuesday. “We are announcing the general mobilization on Friday in order to support al-Quds, al-Aqsa and the struggling Gaza.”

Iran and many countries across the globe have seen pro-Palestine rallies over the past days.

The Israeli attacks have displaced over 260,000 people in Gaza, with over 175,000 taking shelter in 88 UN schools.

Rights groups and international organizations have criticized the Israeli regime for its indiscriminate bombing of Gaza and its siege on the territory.

Iran urges UN to send humanitarian aid to Gaza

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed the latest developments in Gaza with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres over the phone on Wednesday.

Saying that the Al-Aqsa Storm Operation was a fully Palestinian initiative, Amir-Abdollahian said it was a reaction to the war crimes and extremism of Netanyahu and the Zionist regime in recent months.

Currently, Gaza is under a total siege, and water and electricity, as well as the delivery of medicine and food to children, women, and individuals, have been cut off, he noted, adding that attacks and war crimes by the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza continue.

Due to the spread of killings of women and children in Gaza, the responsibility for its subsequent feedback and the complication of the situation lies with the Zionist regime, the Iranian top diplomat added.

Announcing Iran’s readiness to send humanitarian aid to Gaza, he said, “We expect the United Nations to take immediate measures to send water, food and humanitarian aid to Gaza without interruption.”

The UN chief, said for his part, that hundreds of UN employees are in very bad conditions in Gaza and so far some of them have been killed and they are protecting the people of Gaza in these conditions.

“A large number of Gazans have been sheltered in schools belonging to the United Nations in this city. We are aware of the deterioration of the situation in Gaza and we are trying to prevent the intensification of bombings and conflicts through consultation with other countries,” Guterres said.

He also appreciated the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to send water, food, and medicine to Gaza.

Western media, social media influencers peddle lies to vilify Palestinians

By Shabbir Rizvi

Since the Hamas-led Palestinian resistance operation “Al Aqsa Storm” on Saturday, mainstream Western media and social media influencers have been aggressively pushing Zionist narratives as part of a murky disinformation campaign against the resistance.

The multi-front information war is designed to control the narrative around anything surrounding the Palestinian issue and the latest military operation that has shaken the foundation of the regime.

Now more than ever, it is becoming clear that Western governments and their ruling class, which have a tight grip on media and information control, are losing the battle of ideas.

Palestinian support in the West is at an all-time high, despite Western leaders coming out in the open in defense of the Zionist regime and its relentless and indiscriminate aggression against Palestinians.

Western leaders came out in unison on Saturday to tow the same false narrative: That the Hamas operation is “unprovoked,” that the Israeli regime is “just” in its decades-long ethnic cleansing of Palestine, and that the Palestinian resistance is “terrorism.”

However, the world saw past these imperialist lies. Millions of people in the West, from New York to London to Paris, poured into the streets to pledge their support to Palestine and the Palestinian resistance, despite their own governments denouncing the Palestinian cause.

In fact, the rallies themselves began to be denounced by Western officials, who despite their aggressive rhetoric against the Palestinian cause saw no end to the outpouring of support for Al Aqsa Storm.

Now, the West and its media apparatuses have turned to their usual assortment of disinformation campaigns to muddy the line between fact and reality.

Perhaps the most egregious claim came from Zionist outlet “i24 News.” Nicole Zedeck, a reporter, falsely claimed that “40 Israeli babies” were killed, and that some were “decapitated.”

Obviously a jarring claim, many netizens pushed back asking for more details or any source that could corroborate this claim, which is part of the disinformation campaign.

Zedeck walked back the claim, saying Zionist soldiers told her this was happening –  but the post, which still has not been deleted – or retracted – has been proven categorically false by media outlets.

The multiple high-profile accounts on X (formerly Twitter) shared Zedeck’s baseless claim, disseminating the proven lie to millions of people across the world.

Perhaps most frustrating of all is that while this claim of Israeli babies being killed was spread with no source or proof, very real footage of martyred Palestinian babies being pulled from the Gaza rubble was also being shared – but without the solidarity of any Western influencer accounts.

Another similar example was shared of a woman, Shani Louk, allegedly being held hostage by Hamas.

Zionist influencers claimed she was sexually assaulted and murdered. Later, the woman’s own mother confirmed she was safe and that Hamas had taken her to a hospital in the Gaza Strip – the same hospital targeted multiple times by Israeli warplanes.

This is a very intentional strategy of the Zionist regime, and the West – when their narrative is being challenged by reality itself, they will not be above spreading lies and refusing to apologize or issue a real retraction when they are caught.

The claims are instead echoed by official Zionist accounts as reality without citation, leading media outlets in the West to print the story verbatim.

Even the celebrity apparatus of the West plays a significant role in disseminating false claims – and then quietly walking them back after millions of people were exposed to flagrant lies.

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis published a photo on Instagram of terrified children looking at the sky, with a caption expressing solidarity with the Zionist State. When netizens correctly identified the children in the photo as children of Gaza, fleeing from a Zionist airstrike, she quickly deleted the photo.

The strategy of publishing lies and issuing a whimper of a retraction (if any at all) has been an imperialist strategy for decades.

The US entry into Vietnam was sparked by a false report of an attack on a US warship in the Gulf of Tonkin. The US illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003 was due to a made-up claim of weapons of mass destruction. The invasion of Afghanistan before that was also based on false assumptions.

Iran’s foreign-plotted riots were caused by a categorical lie peddled by accounts known to be on the payroll of the United States intelligence agencies – then were spread using a vast network of online bots and influencer accounts.

Western celebrities and influencers then picked up the story to smear the Islamic Republic, despite multiple witnesses and CCTV footage proving the tragic death of Mahsa Amini was of natural causes.

More recently, after a 16-year-old Iranian girl Armita Geravand fell unconscious at the Tehran subway, social media accounts and news media in the West jumped on the bandwagon, claiming “torture.”

Western media apparatus and celebrity apparatus are intertwined. They are part of a sophisticated system that is forced into place by the US ruling class and further strengthened by the Zionist lobby.

Any deviation – meaning support for Palestine – is met with categorically false claims of anti-semitism, racism, or outlandish smear campaigns.

Western outlets will never publish about the true carnage unleashed upon the people of Gaza – the women and children who were martyred.

They will never publish, for example, the video of Israeli soldiers shutting off the water to Gaza – already contaminated – despite it being a human rights violation and a war crime. The imperialist media will never document reality, because reality would condemn the West for its barbarism.

Furthermore, if the West cannot win a war of information, then it seeks to outright ban inconvenient facts altogether. Take for example the shutdown of Press TV in the United States – or the deplatforming of Russia Today or Sputnik after the February 2022 Russian military operation in Ukraine.

Lebanon’s Al-Maydeen was also briefly banned on Meta platforms for its coverage of Al Aqsa Storm. According to the network, no reason was provided for it, nor was any prior notice given.

The fact of the matter is the imperialist media does not shy away from playing dirty to ensure only its pro-imperialist outlets and narratives dominate public perception.

It understands it is in a losing battle against the truth and is aggressively conducting widespread disinformation and information stifling in a final bid to control its narratives.

An age-old saying is that in war, the first casualty is truth. The imperialist West has been imposing war on the entire globe for over a century. The truth has been “killed” in this sense many times – leading to racism, Islamophobia, and more rot within society – but it can also be salvaged.

As growing contradictions sharpen within our world, the imperialist West will intensify its disinformation campaigns. Based on what we already know about its unethical conduct, the world cannot look to the West for the truth.

The West’s truth is a false reality based on the vision created by the US ruling class and its partners, who are committed to defiling the world for their own greed.

If the West fears the narrative of the Palestinians so much then it must know that the truth is with Palestine – and that Palestine is the truth.
