No Gill, Hardik: Selectors Sent "Kohli Should…" Advice For T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup 2024 is just round the corner and the Indian cricket team selectors have a keen eye on the ongoing IPL in order to identify the right players for the competition. While several players are almost confirmed to find a place in the squad, questions still remain on the middle order and certain players like Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Former New Zealand fast bowler Simon Doull believes that India should use Virat Kohli as an opener along with Rohit Sharma as this move will allow him to play more fast bowlers which can result in a great start for the team against tough opponents.

“I think Virat should open…100 per cent. I don’t think he should bat at number three, because if he does, then Rinku Singh will miss out. And in my India starting XI, Rinku has to play. Therefore, Virat’s got to open the batting. Now who he opens with, up to you. If it is Rohit Sharma or Jaiswal. But Kohli has to open, because in the modern game that is his best position. He hits the quick bowlers as good as anyone and he times the ball beautifully. Coming in and starting against spin is not his best option,” he said on Cricbuzz.

Doull added that although Yashasvi Jaiswal is in great form, it seems unlikely that he will find a place in the India playing XI for the World Cup. Instead, he suggested that Sanju Samson can bat at No. 3 followed by Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh and Ravindra Jadeja.

“It sounds stupid to me but if Jaiswal is out. But if that’s the case, you could have Sanju at 3, Suryakumar at 4, Dube and Rinku at 5 and 6, Jadeja at 7,” he added.

The team suggested by Doull had couple of huge omissions in the form of Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill. While he believes that other players may find a place in the team due to their recent form, Rinku Singh needs to be a constant for the side as he has performed superbly in the past year.

Samsung Hints at Expanding Galaxy AI to More Devices

Samsung could expand its native artificial intelligence (AI) suite of features for its smartphones, Galaxy AI, to more devices. On Wednesday, the South Korean tech giant announced a new update to Galaxy AI that added support for new languages and dialects. In the same post, the company hinted that the suite of features could be introduced to more devices soon. This has led to speculation on whether these features can be brought to older devices such as the Galaxy S22 series.

This potential teaser by the company was first spotted by 9to5Google. Towards the end of the announcement post of increasing the number of supported languages for Galaxy AI, the company also listed the devices that currently support the AI features. The post stated, “The newly supported Galaxy AI languages and dialects will each be available for download as a language pack from the Settings app across all devices that support Galaxy AI. That includes the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series, with more coming soon.”

The reason for speculation is the last four words of the paragraph. So far, there has been confusion on whether the company was going to support devices older than the Galaxy S23 series for the AI features, given some of the features were offered on-device that required powerful hardware to carry out the processing. Last month, a report revealed that TM Roh, the President of Samsung’s mobile division, said in a shareholders’ meeting in Seoul, “Resources and efforts are being invested. We are gradually preparing plans to support a fully-fledged Galaxy AI experience [in the S22 series and older Samsung devices].”

However, other reports also highlighted that it might not be possible to bring these features to older devices given the hardware limitations. Although the post does not clarify whether it meant newer midrange Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Books lineup, or older devices. One suggested way to support older devices is by making all the features on-server so the device does not have to bear the stress of managing the processing. Another method could be optimising these features for older devices. If this is done, users may not be able to experience the full experience of the feature but will still be able to use it in some form.

Adding Galaxy AI capabilities to a wider range of devices is also in the best interest of Samsung. At the time of launching the feature alongside the Galaxy S24 series, the company said that these features would be free to use until the end of 2025, and a subscription fee might be charged afterwards. If the suite of features reaches more users, the smartphone maker will stand to rake in more revenue through this service.

"Even If Ambedkar Returns…": PM Attacks Opposition Over Constitution Remark

'Even If Ambedkar Returns...': PM Attacks Opposition Over Constitution Remark

BJP supporters at a rally addressed by PM Narendra Modi in Udhampur on Friday

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attacked the Opposition for saying the Constitution and democracy would be in danger if he wins a third term. At a rally in Nagpur district, PM Modi said BR Ambedkar’s “soul must be blessing me” for scrapping special status from Jammu and Kashmir.

“If the Constitution was so important, why wasn’t it in force in the entire country till Article 370 was scrapped (in 2019)? The Opposition resisted it because it was soft on separatists,” PM Modi said. “Ambedkar’s soul must be blessing Modi after the abrogation of Article 370,” he added.

“The Constitution of the country is everything for the (BJP) government and even if Babasaheb Ambedkar himself comes, he cannot abolish the Constitution,” PM Modi said, and accused the Congress of trying to “destroy the Constitution” by imposing Emergency in the country.

The Prime Minister, who is the BJP’s top star campaigner, alleged the Opposition has been fooling people by saying the Constitution would be changed if he and his party win the Lok Sabha elections again. “Didn’t democracy come under threat during the Emergency?” he said.

This was PM Modi’s second visit to Vidarbha, where voting will be held in the first phase on April 19. On Monday, he campaigned for the BJP nominees of Chandrapur and Gadchiroli-Chimur.

PM Modi said Dalits and tribals in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have now got constitutional rights, while under the Congress’s rule they were ignored for vote bank politics.

“The work I have done in last 10 years is just an appetiser; the main course is yet to come. For the next five years, your dream is Modi’s sankalp. Each and every moment of mine is dedicated for your welfare and the country’s progress. 24/7 for 2047,” the Prime Minister said.

Demolished the wall of Article 370, buried debris in ground: PM Modi in Udhampur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a public meeting ahead of Lok Sabha elections, in Udhampur district, Friday

Udhampur: Openly throwing a challenge to the Opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, warned that people of India would not spare them if they even think of bringing back Article 370.

“To keep their grip on people, these parties created a demon, saying that if Article 370 is removed, Jammu and Kashmir would burn and it would break away from the country,” PM Modi said while addressing a poll rally in Udhampur.

“For the sake of power, they had built a wall of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. With your blessings, Modi has demolished that wall and buried the debris of Article 370 deep in the ground,” he added.

Challenging the Opposition that speaks of restoring Article 370, PM Modi said that if they do it, then people will not “even look at them.”

Earlier this week, Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing a public rally in Madhya Pradesh, had also warned Congress, saying: “Don’t ever dare to change Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.”

“Although Congress can’t return to power again, if it happens by chance, I would warn Congress to not dare to change Article 370. Kashmir is part of India. Your (Congress) politics of appeasement is over now,” Shah said.

Blue Origin has, since July 2021, carried out six crewed flights, and CEO Jeff Bezos himself took part in the first.

The company’s reusable New Shepard rocket will take the six-person crew to space above the Karman line– an internationally recognised boundary of space that lies 62 miles (100 km) above the Earth’s surface– in a typical 11-minute flight.

Iraqi Man, 47, Wins Battle Against Stage 4 Rectal Cancer In India

Iraqi Man, 47, Wins Battle Against Stage 4 Rectal Cancer In India

This was a challenging case as the man was previously misdiagnosed

New Delhi:

A 47-year-old man from Iraq suffering from stage-4 rectal cancer has been given a new lease of life after a complex surgery by doctors in India.

The man was initially diagnosed with piles and was undergoing treatment for the same in his country. However, it was later discovered that he was suffering from rectal cancer that had been misdiagnosed earlier. The obese patient also underwent multiple chemotherapy and radiation sessions, before being referred to the Manipal Hospital in Dwarka.

“This was a challenging case as the patient had previously been misdiagnosed, and the fact that he weighed 122 kg added complexity to the treatment,” Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Consultant – Surgical Oncology, Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, told IANS.

After evaluation, the doctors also found peritoneal disease in addition to rectal cancer (stage IV).

Peritoneal disease is a cancer that begins in an organ within the abdomen and then spreads to the abdominal wall lining and surface. Usually, stage IV cancers are incurable. But, the peritoneal disease can be treated.

Given the complexity of the case, doctors at Manipal decided to undertake CRS (Cytoreductive Surgery) and HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Surgery) – both highly complex and challenging procedures.

“These procedures were combined with the surgical removal of the cancerous tumour and the administration of heated chemotherapy to the abdomen, to maximise the effectiveness of the treatment,” Dr Sanjeev explained.

“Despite an unfavourable initial prognosis, the patient was successfully treated under the guidance of our team and returned home with a better quality of life. The success of his treatment highlights the importance of advanced medical solutions to complex problems like cancer,” the doctor said.

ChatGPT Is Now More Direct And Less Verbose In Its Responses: OpenAI

ChatGPT Is Now More Direct And Less Verbose In Its Responses: OpenAI

The new AI model has been trained on publicly available data up to December last year.

New Delhi:

Sam Altman-run OpenAI on Friday said it has made its AI chatbot called ChatGPT more direct and less verbose.

In a post on X social media platform, the company said its new GPT-4 Turbo model is now available to paid ChatGPT users.

“We’ve improved capabilities in writing, math, logical reasoning, and coding,” said the company.

The new AI model has been trained on publicly available data up to December last year.

“When writing with ChatGPT, responses will be more direct, less verbose and use more conversational language,” OpenAI posted.

The company said it continues to invest in making its AI models better and looks forward to seeing what the users do with those.

“If you haven’t tried it yet, GPT-4 Turbo is available in ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and the API,” it added.

Meanwhile, the AI company allegedly transcribed more than a million hours of YouTube videos to train GPT-4.

The New York Times reported last week that OpenAI knew this was not legal but “believed it to be fair use”.

An OpenAI spokesperson was quoted as saying that the company uses “numerous sources including publicly available data and partnerships for non-public data,” to maintain its global research competitiveness.
