The people of Dubbak had taught BJP candidate M Raghunandan Rao a lesson as he failed to keep promises made during the Dubbak by-election. Raghunandan Rao was sure to lose this time around too, he said. BRS candidate P Venkatrami Reddy also spoke.

Nalgonda: Countering the BJP’s charges that Congress leaders would topple the State government, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said there were no ‘Eknath Shindes’ in the Congress. In fact, Eknath Shinde was created by the BJP in Maharashtra.

Both NCP and Shiv Sena parties were split to topple the democratically elected government, he said after greeting Muslims at Idgah on Ramzan festival here on Thursday. He was accompanied by former Minister K Jana Reddy and Nalgonda Congress candidate K Raghuveer Reddy.

Speaking to the media, the Minister also claimed that there was no group politics in the Congress party. “Revanth Reddy will be Chief Minister for five years and Congress will be in power for 10 years,” Venkat Reddy said.

Refuting BJP Legislative party chief A Maheswar Reddy’s charges on group politics in Congress, the Minister said it was not wise on the BJP leader’s part to speak about other parties.

“Why was BJP former State president Bandi Sanjay removed from the post and why was union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy given the reigns,” he asked, stating Congress leaders and Ministers were working as a team under Revanth Reddy’s leadership for Telangana’s development.

The Minister further challenged that the BRS would not win a single seat in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. “If at all BRS wins one seat, I am prepared for anything,” Venkat Reddy said.

Sangareddy: Techies, educated persons form majority of cybercrime victims

Sangareddy: Techies, educated persons form majority of cybercrime victims

Sangareddy:  Higher levels of education and familiarity with technology should usually help people stay away from the cunning tricks of cyber fraudsters. But the incidence of cybercrime in Sangareddy, which is a mix of both urban and rural areas, shows it is the educated people, especially people working with software firms, who are falling prey to cybercrime despite their familiarity with tech.

During the first three months of 2024 (From January 1 to March 31), the district recorded 1,058 cybercrime cases, with victims losing Rs.9.89 crore to cyber crooks. Interestingly, nearly 50 percent of these cases were reported under the Ameenpur and Patancheru Police stations, the limits of both which are completely urban. While Ameenpur Police Station registered 301 cases, Patancheru Police registered 221 cases in these three months. Most of the victims, according to officials, were either software engineers or well-educated persons working in other sectors.

A software engineer, residing in AR Brundavan Colony in Ameenpur, was lured by cyber fraudsters offering to show more profits in online trading. The fraudsters gave him a month-long training on online trading. Later, he was asked to create an account for himself before asking to deposit the amount. He deposited Rs.72.90 lakh in 16 instalments beginning from February 21.

When he realised that he was cheated, he approached the Ameenpur police. Another software engineer, a resident of Beeramguda under Ameenpur Police Station, lost Rs.11.10 lakh. The victim was asked to complete some tasks online offering a lucrative part-time job. When the fraudsters stopped responding to his messages after depositing the amount, the victim approached Ameenpur Police on March 7.

Speaking to Telangana Today, District Cyber Crime Coordination Centre DSP N Venugopal Reddy said Sangareddy district was recording more cybercrime cases than any of the districts in Telangana after the Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Hyderabad Police Commissionerates. Most of the victims were being lured on social media platforms by offering part-time jobs, or other additional income sources. Shockingly, highly educated persons were falling prey to these fraudsters than people living in rural areas.

Stating that the police were planning to organise a host of educative programmes to sensitise people on cybercrime, he said they would reach out to potential victims by hosting the programmes in residential colonies, industries, colleges and other places by making other stakeholders as partners.

The police had recovered Rs 1.26 crore out of the swindled Rs.9.89 crore from fraudsters’ bank accounts, which would be returned to the victims after completing formalities.

Khammam: Congress action continues within party while others intensify campaign

The selection of the Congress Khammam Lok Sabha candidate has turned out to be an unending saga with a new name coming up for consideration for the ticket every few days.

Khammam: Congress action continues within party while others intensify campaign

Congress

Khammam: With barely one month left for the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress leadership seems to be finding it tough to overcome its predicament in finalising a candidate for the Khammam Lok Sabha seat.

This is after the BRS and BJP have already announced their candidates Nama Nageswara Rao and Tandra Vinod Rao and have already launched electioneering. On the official side, a help desk has been started on April 8 to provide nomination forms for filing nominations and a fortnight is left for filing nominations. Only the Congress party is missing from action.

The selection of the Congress Khammam Lok Sabha candidate has turned out to be an unending saga with a new name coming up for consideration for the ticket every few days. The party leadership has been caught in a Catch 22 situation as it has become a family affair with family members of three Ministers in the district in the race for the ticket. These are Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s wife Mallu Nandini, minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s brother P Prasad Reddy and minister Tummala Nageswara Rao’s son T Yugandhar.

In addition to the above names, senior party leaders V Hanumantha Rao and Jetti Kusum Kumar, a business man VVC Rajendra Prasad and former MP Ramasahayam Surender Reddy’s son Raghuram Reddy are also in the race, besides several other leaders in the district.

According to the sources, the party high command reportedly decided not to give tickets to family members of the ministers and also asked them to suggest alternate names. In this backdrop, the name of a former minister Mandava Venkateswara Rao, who was with the TDP and BRS in the past, has come to the fore of late.

Venkateswara Rao, who belongs to Nizamabad district, is said to be a close associate of minister Nageswara Rao. Since he is a non-local leader, whether the cadres and leaders in the district could support him or not is a puzzle as local minority leader Mohammed Javed and others are also asking for the party ticket.

Though the Congress leadership is confident of winning the Lok Sabha seat as the party performed well in recent Assembly elections in the district, delay in the selection of the candidate might send wrong signals to the cadres, opined the party leaders.

Congress yet to fix candidates for 3 constituencies; Revanth flies to Delhi

Congress yet to fix candidates for 3 constituencies; Revanth flies to Delhi

Hyderabad: The Congress party, which has released its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, appears to be struggling to finalise its candidates for the three constituencies of Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Khammam. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy flew to New Delhi on Thursday morning to participate in an AICC meeting, during which the party high command is likely to finalise the candidates for the constituencies in Telangana.

The party had announced candidates for 14 constituencies out of the 17 in the State. But there has been inordinate delay in announcing candidates for the three constituencies, which are witnessing heavy competition from the aspirants.

In Karimnagar, Praveen Reddy, Velichala Rajendra Rao and C Naveen (Teenmaar Mallanna) are among the serious probable candidates. During Assembly elections, the party had asked Praveen Reddy to make way for Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Rao to contest from Husnabad. Adhering to the party directions, Praveen Reddy sacrificed his seat and is now demanding the party leadership to fulfill the promise made to him during the Assembly elections. However, since the Velama community has a stronghold in Karimnagar constituency, party leaders are vying different options.

Similarly, the party is yet to announce its candidate for the Hyderabad constituency, which is currently being represented by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Among many aspiring to contest from the constituency, Hyderabad DCC president Sameer Waliullah, Shyam Rao and entrepreneur Ali Masqati are the front runners.

Though there have been reports that former Indian cricket captain Mohd Azharuddin and tennis ace Sania Mirza might be considered for contesting from Hyderabad constituency, the party leaders dismissed those as mere speculations.
