Karimnagar:  Siddipet MLA and former Minister T Harish Rao alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was fielding weak candidates in many Lok Sabha segments to help the victory of BJP aspirants. In order to weaken the BRS party, both Congress and BJP entered into a secret understanding. As part of their conspiracy, Revanth Reddy was fielding weak aspirants in many place, he alleged.

Similar formula was also being implemented in Karimnagar. That was why the selection of candidates for Karimnagar parliament segments was being delayed, Harish Rao said while addressing a corner meeting at Ramnagar, Karimangar town on Friday night.

Stating that there was no drinking water scarcity in the BRS regime, he said that people were facing troubles for drinking water within four months of the Congress party coming to power in the state.

On the other hand, standing crops withered due to lack of irrigable water. During his visit to Karimnagar, Chandrashekhar Rao asked the government to give Rs 500 bonus to farmers. However, Revanth Reddy responded irresponsibly. Being the CM, it was not proper on his part to make such comments.

Was Revanth Reddy even after becoming CM ever raised Jai Telangana slogan and paid tributes placing flowers at Telangana martyrs memorial statue? He questioned. Without Telangana and BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, there was no CM seat for Revanth Reddy.

Before elections, the congress party promised to implement six guarantees without 100 days. However, it failed to implement them even after four months. Congress cheated all sections of the people including farmers, pensioners, women, unemployed youth and others. Congress party, which failed to fulfill its promises even after four months, would go unchecked for the next four and half years if it was elected in MP elections. So, it was the right time to check the Congress party and strengthen BRS.

He and Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar would fight for the development of Karimnagar by grilling the government in the assembly. So, Karimnagar people should strengthen their hands by electing BRS candidate B Vinod Kumar in the parliament elections.

Paddy procurement: Realisation of targets unlikely

Despite meticulous preparations ahead of the Rabi marketing season for paddy procurement, achieving the set targets seems improbable.

Paddy procurement: Realisation of targets unlikely

Representational Image

Hyderabad: Even as the procurement of paddy for the Rabi marketing season commenced with elaborate arrangements made in advance, the realisation of targets appear to be unlikely. The arrivals continued to be poor at a majority of the paddy purchase centres. It may not cross 50 lakh metric tonnes in the season, though the official machinery has been tasked with an ambitious target of 75.40 lakh metric tonnes. The situation owed largely to twin factors.

The growers of the grade A varieties moving paddy to the purchase centres are not many. They are turning to the private traders who have been offering much higher prices compared to the minimum support price. According to reports reaching from districts, at places such as Nelakondapalli and Madhira, grade -A varieties were offered at Rs 2,700 to Rs 2,800 per quintal.

The bulk of the stocks with the farmers had already been purchased by the traders and millers.

Paddy production is likely register a substantial drop because of the drought conditions in the command of a majority of the irrigation projects. The farmers who sunk new bore wells to raise paddy in different districts under the Nagarjuna Sagar project, despite an officially declared crop holiday, suffered huge losses, with a big drop in the ground water table too. Under other projects such as Sriramsagar and Nizamsagar, irrigation support could not be extended because of the poor storage levels in the projects.

The overall Rabi projects for paddy output would be 14 to 15 lakh tonnes less compared to the 1.20 crore metric tonnes achieved during Rabi-2023. Many Rabi farmers have abandoned their crops failing to ensure last single wetting that would have helped bail out in a big way. Officials are also of the view that many of the paddy purchase centres being opened in the state may draw a blank. Though the state government had decided to open 7,149 purchase centers, the requirement could be far less.

New bridge across Godavari at Bhadrachalam to open for traffic by Sri Rama Navami

District administration planned to open the second high level bridge across river Godavari at Bhadrachalam for vehicular traffic by Sri Rama Navami.

Kothagudem: Good news to residents of erstwhile Khammam district residents, especially the devotees attending Bhadradri Brahmotsavams.

The district administration has planned to open the second high level bridge across river Godavari at Bhadrachalam for vehicular traffic by Sri Rama Navami. The bridge construction, which spanned over nine long years, neared completion with minor works pending.

Speaking to Telangana Today, district Collector Dr. Priyanka Ala informed that as large numbers of devotees are expected to attend Sri Rama Navami celebrations at Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam it is decided to allow vehicular traffic on the new bridge.

She said that the laying of bitumen layer on the bridge and approach roads has been completed. The railing work of footpaths would be completed soon. The official inauguration of the bridge would take place after the parliament elections are over.

The second bridge was proposed to be built to ease the traffic flow on National Highway 30, a vital road link that connects Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh States as the traffic congestion increased due to increased vehicular flow over the years on the old bridge.

The new bridge, built adjacent to the existing one, is 1.20 kilometres in length and 12 metres in width with 37 piers. The length and number of piers of the new bridge are the same as the old one with a significant addition of wide foot paths on either sides of the bridge.

The new bridge construction was taken by a north Indian company Rajdeep Buildcon Private Limited with an initial estimated cost of Rs 80 crore on engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis.

As the agency failed to execute the project as per the schedule National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) gave extensions to the agency several times to complete the project. It took nearly nine years for the agency to complete the project.

It may be noted that the existing high level bridge across the river was constructed in a five year period from 1960 to 1965 with an expenditure of Rs 70 lakh after the foundation was laid on December 16, 1959 by the then AP Chief Minister, Dr. N Sanjeeva Reddy.
