Hyderabad: Using HYDRAA and its bulldozers, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy might be standing and feeling high on a pile of debris left by the demolitions, but what is slowly emerging from the dust left behind is a strategy to divert public attention from what is actually happening in Telangana.
Even as television news channels, YouTubers and the media devote more space and time to HYDRAA, what is not being given much of the prime time or space is the surging number of fevers, with the State facing a health crisis. What is not shown on screens are the tears of farmers who ran to banks on hearing Revanth Reddy’s speech before the elections last year to take loans, only to find themselves running to banks again to check why they did not get the promised loan waiver.
What is not being counted is the number of increasing attacks on women and children, and also the gruesome murders, many of them with political overtones. What is being ignored are the continuing protests by the unemployed, whose frustrations were exploited by the same party before the elections, with the delay in recruitments rubbing in the salt further. What is being forgotten are the frequent power supply disruptions. Of course, that was not the government’s fault, but mischief by lizards and squirrels.
Most importantly, when the drama is all about HYDRAA, who is talking about the Six Guarantees now? And that, apparently, was what the bulldozers were for.
Nobody is asking whether the State government was depositing Rs.2,500 into bank accounts of all the women in the State. Nobody is talking about the Rs.4,000 monthly honorarium for the unemployed. Nobody is talking about how Rythu Bharosa is being delayed even as the crop season is nearing an end. There is no news on what happened to Dalit Bandhu. What about the Rs.500 bonus for paddy, or the Indiramma Indlu scheme, which was in fact launched and then forgotten. Remember the Warangal Rythu Declaration, the Chevella SC/ST Declaration, Minority Declaration or the Kamareddy BC Declaration?
The deteriorating law and order situation, the closing down of about 43 tribal welfare schools which were the only source of education for tribal children in remote and agency areas, the non-payment of salaries to several government employees and contract staff who keep the machinery running, all have been pushed under the carpet cleverly by the bulldozers.
By citing the Bhagavad Gita and taking Lord Krishna’s name while issuing notices to relatives and partymen, Revanth Reddy has used the attention diversion tactic with great effect. But how can he hide behind the bulldozers from questions on his poll promises remains to be seen.
Farmers continued to hit the streets in several areas in the State raising basic issues, including water for their crops.

Hyderabad: Farmers continued to hit the streets in several areas in the State raising basic issues, including water for their crops.
On Thursday, while farmers in Metpally and Medipally in Jagtial staged protests over the State government’s failure in implementation of the crop loan waiver, farmers in Nalgonda held demonstrations demanding water supply for their crops. The protests at Metpally and Medipally saw the ryots demanding that the State government waive all crop loans without imposing any conditions. Farmers from surrounding villages also staged a rasta roko near the old bus stand in Metpally town forcing vehicular traffic on National Highway 63 to a standstill for a while.
Similarly, farmers under the aegis of Medipally mandal Reddy Sangam staged a dharna and rasta roko on NH 63 in Medipally mandal headquarters. They raised slogans against the State government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The Congress government, which promised to waive all crop loans during the elections, changed its voice after coming to power and was putting conditions if the farmers wanted the waiver, they said, adding that the government was trying to wash off its hands from its promise by waiving off crop loans of just a few farmers.
The agitating farmers demanded that government to waive all crop loans up to Rs.2 lakh without imposing any conditions, provide Rs.15,000 as Rythu Bharosa financial assistance per acre of land and to provide the promised bonus of Rs.500 to normal variety paddy too. They wanted the government to conduct a door-to-door survey over crop loan waiver scheme implementation and accordingly deposit the amount in their bank accounts. They withdrew their protests after Revenue and police officials assured to take their demands to the notice of the State government.
In Nalgonda, farmers from Kukkadam, Madugulapally, Indugula and Agamothukur, who have been staging protests for want of water since the last few days in different villages came together on Thursday to stage a protest at Kukkadam and raised slogans against the government. The farmers from the constituencies of Miryalguda, Nalgonda and Nagarjuna Sagar have been pleading with officials to ensure supply of sufficient water but their appeals were not being considered, they said.
Most of these villages are in the tail end areas and get water through the SLBC flood flow canal. Farmers in over 80,000 acres of the ayacut are dependent on the supply of water through the canal, they said, adding that since the last few days, they were complaining to officials that farmers in the upstream areas of the canal were drawing excess water illegally by operating motors. As a result, those in the tail end areas were not getting any supply.
The farmers also said unless the water supply was ensured through the canal, the recharging process of groundwater would also get affected. All these would eventually damage the standing crops, they rued.

Hyderabad: A mud-tiled roof, A few pillars. That is the Mandal Parishad Primary school at Bangarupally hamlet at Kanthanapally panchayat under Kannigudem mandal at Mulugu district.
If one did not see the children sitting on the floor with their books, none would know that it was a school. In 2007, a few Girijan tribals had upgraded their Bangarupally gudem into a village with 34 houses and a population of nearly 150. For the convenience of students, a primary school was established under the Mandal Parishad.
Since then the schools lacks a permanent structure, it is under the makeshift structure that classes are conducted for students from Class One to Five. Villagers said the Education department failed in ensuring basic amenities at the school, which falls under the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya’s constituency.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s brother Tirupati Reddy on Thursday acknowledged the receipt of a notice on his house in Amar Cooperative Society at Durgam Cheruvu, Madhapur being in the buffer zone of the lake.
“This was a sanctioned layout before the WALTA Act came into force. The previous owner had constructed the house after obtaining all permissions. I purchased the same from him and had no idea whether it was in the FTL or buffer zone,” Tirupati Reddy told media persons outside his residence on Thursday.
He said the house spread over 600 square yards was purchased after seeking legal opinion from his lawyer. Interestingly, when ‘F’ (indicating Full Tank Level) and ‘B’ (Buffer zone) marks were marked on other houses, no such mark was indicated on Tirupati Reddy’s house. “People say it comes under buffer zone and the same was mentioned in the notice,” he replied to the media persons.
When asked if any officer had come to serve the notice, he replied that no officer had met him so far.
“The Chief Minister is not working for me alone and he is working for all people. Whatever has to be done, it should be done by officials, what can a Chief Minister do? If the government wants to demolish, so be it,” he said, adding that he was prepared for legal action.
“If they give me some time, I will vacate the premises after collecting all my belongings,” he said, also alleging that the notices were the outcome of the actions of the BRS.
“The BRS has put the entire colony in a problem. Had I not lived here, none would have concentrated on this colony,” he alleged.
