Telangana’s identity under threat, coordinated assault by Congress, BJP: KTR

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao cautioned against a coordinated assault on Telangana’s self-respect and identity by the Congress and BJP. He charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with diminishing Telangana’s struggle and identity by reducing the historic Telangana movement to an act of charity by former AICC president Sonia Gandhi.

Participating in the Deeksha Diwas programme organised at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Rama Rao lashed out at Revanth Reddy, whose actions threatened the State’s identity by attempting to erase Telangana’s cultural and historical symbols like the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam and Charminar from the State’s official seal.

Revanth Reddy who aimed his rifle at Telangana agitators during the Statehood movement, is not just trying to erase K Chandrashekhar Rao’s legacy, but is erasing Telangana’s history and pride,” he said, also criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on Telangana’s formation, calling them insulting to the State’s aspirations. “Modi likened Telangana formation to that of ‘the mother being killed to keep the child alive’, demeaning the hard-fought struggle of Telangana people,” he stated, adding that BJP leaders too belittled Telangana by projecting it as a beneficiary of the Gujarati leadership, under Sardar Vallabhai Patel earlier and Narendra Modi now.

Rama Rao stressed the need to educate younger generations about the sacrifices of student martyrs and the relentless struggles that culminated in the formation of Telangana. He emphasised the importance of creating awareness on Telangana’s identity and self-respect which was threatened under the Congress regime in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh for several decades.

“If we do not remember where we came from, we cannot chart our future. History is our guide, and forgetting it leaves us vulnerable to being subdued again,” he warned’ also cautioning that neglecting the State’s rich history could lead to its subjugation once again, as was being attempted by the current Congress government to attack Telangana’s identity.

The former Minister stated that despite the Congress government using police force and attempting to oppress tribals and farmers at Lagacherla, the people’s resistance had forced it to retreat from land acquisition plans. He called it a victory for Dalits, BCs, tribals, and farmers. However, he cautioned that the Revanth Reddy government was only interested in real estate deals, but not governance and could come up in another manner to grab their land.

“Revanth Reddy knows only land grabbing, not governance. Telangana must resist this plunder with all its might,” he said, urging people to stand united under BRS’s leadership. He also reiterated BRS’s commitment to fighting for Telangana’s welfare in all forums, including the legislative assembly and the council. “The voice of Telangana is BRS, and no one else. Telangana Bhavan, now a Janata Garage, remains open to all victims seeking justice. Only K Chandrashekhar Rao and BRS will fight for Telangana’s interests,” he asserted.

Earlier, Rama Rao along with BRS MLAs, MLCs, elected representatives and other senior leaders took out a rally from the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute to Telangana Bhavan. He garlanded the statues of Telangana Thalli and Prof K Jayashankar and paid tributes to the Telangana Martyrs Memorial.

Telangana Congress govt trying to do away with Rythu Bandhu, says Harish Rao

Demands government to give clarity on implementation of scheme and immediately release pending Vanakalam and Yasangi season amount

Telangana Congress govt trying to do away with Rythu Bandhu, says Harish Rao

BRS leader T Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao accused the Congress government of hatching a conspiracy to do away with the Rythu Bandhu scheme launched by the previous BRS government. He demanded the government to give clarity on the implementation of the scheme and immediately release the pending Vanakalam and Yasangi season amount.

Harish Rao said it was deplorable that Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao was claiming that the farmers were saying that the bonus of Rs 500 given to fine rice was better than that of Rythu Bandhu. The BRS leader reminded that Rythu Bandhu was the only scheme in the world that had provided investment assistance to farmers, and the United Nations praised it.

The Congress government announced to buy 5,19,605 quintals of fine rice with a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal out of the total yield of 1.53 crore tonnes produced in the State, he said, adding that according to this calculation, the bonus received by the farmers should be only about Rs 26 crore. Whereas, Rs 7,500 crore per year would need to be deposited in the farmers’ accounts under Rythu Bandhu and if the government pays Rs 15,000 per acre as stated in the manifesto, this will be even more, he pointed out.

“How paying Rs 500 per quintal to farmers is better than the Rythu Bandhu scheme, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Agriculture Minister should tell the farmers,” he said.

When Congress came to power it waived loans of half of the farmers and did not provide crop loan waiver to remaining farmers, causing huge loss to them, he said, adding that the Chief Minister said he would provide bonus for all crops, and finally he limited it to fine rice only. And now the Congress was trying to abolish Rythu Bandhu permanently, he alleged.

He reminded that BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had earlier warned that Rythu Bandhu would be stopped if the Congress party came to power and as expected, the Revanth Reddy government was taking steps in that direction.

“Have the farmers, tenant farmers, and labourers who are waiting for the farmer’s assurance to come have been deceived? Is Revanth Reddy organizing a Rythu festival because he has successfully deceived the farmers? Should he celebrate his victory for betraying the farmers after coming to power by promising to do so in the manifesto? The BRS party strongly condemns the conspiracy to stop the Rythu Bandhu scheme brought by KCR to change the lives of farmers,” he posted on X.

Telangana: Forest officials fly drone cameras, locate killer tiger in Asifabad

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Officials of the Forest Department located the tiger which killed a woman in a cotton farm at Easgaon village in Kagaznagar mandal on Friday, by flying drone cameras in different areas around the spot on Saturday.

District Forest Officer Neeraj Kumar said that efforts were being made to track the tiger, which killed Morle Lakshmi (21) from Gannaram and was suspected to be moving in the forests and plains near the cotton farm. Accordingly, the officials flew drone cameras with the help of experts and volunteers from World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to trace the tiger. The cameras belonged to the forest department.

The forest officials said that the tiger was located near Areguda village, located around 10 kilometres from Easgaon. They stated steps were being taken to divert it into the deep forests and to prevent another human loss. They requested the villagers not to venture into agriculture fields till 10 am and complete farm activities by 4 pm. They advised the farmers to move in groups and to avoid sudden confrontation with tigers.

Residents of villages numbered 1, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10 in Easgaon Gram panchayat, Nazrulnagar, Seethanagar, Anukoda, Gannaram, Kadamba, Areguda and Babanagar villages of Kagaznagar mandal were living in the grip of fear following the killing of the woman by the tiger. Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) or 163 of Bharatiya Nagarika Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) was already enforced in these villages in the wake of the incident and to prevent people from venturing out in unsafe circumstances.

Telangana High Court quashes multiple FIRs against Patnam Narender Reddy

Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Friday allowed the writ petition filed by former Kodangal MLA of the BRS, Patnam Narendar Reddy, quashing multiple FIRs registered against him by Bomraspet Police

Telangana High Court quashes multiple FIRs against Patnam Narender Reddy

By LEGAL CORRESPONDENT

Hyderabad: Justice K. Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Friday allowed the writ petition filed by former Kodangal MLA of the BRS, Patnam Narendar Reddy, quashing multiple FIRs registered against him by Bomraspet Police.

The case centered on three FIRs filed in connection with the Lagacherla incident, which accused Reddy of conspiring in a series of incidents, including vehicle damage. The allegations in all three FIRs were notably similar, with the central charge being conspiracy. However, Justice Lakshman pointed out that there was no specific allegation that Reddy was physically present during the incidents or directly participated in the alleged attacks. The court emphasized that the only accusation against Reddy was involvement in a broader conspiracy.

Justice Lakshman highlighted a crucial legal principle, referencing prior rulings by both the Supreme Court and the Telangana High Court, which state that the registration of multiple FIRs for the same cause of action was impermissible. Even if the incidents were distinct, the court held that multiple FIRs arising from the same cause and involving the same parties would amount to an abuse of legal procedure. The judge further remarked that if FIRs were filed merely to “fill the lacunae” in the prosecution’s case, such actions would be deemed improper.

The court also scrutinized the circumstances under which the complaints were lodged. It was noted that the same police writer had prepared all three complaints. The complaints were signed by senior government officers, including the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO), and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), who were responsible for ensuring the accuracy and specificity of the complaints. Instead of independently preparing the complaints, these officers had signed the documents prepared by the Bomraspet Police Station writer.

Justice Lakshman expressed dissatisfaction with the explanation provided by the Additional Advocate General, T. Rajinikanth Reddy, who argued that the situation was tense following an attack on various officials, including the District Collector and Special Officer, which allegedly prevented the officers from drafting the complaints themselves. The judge pointed out that this explanation was unsatisfactory, noting that the high-ranking officials (Sub Divisional Police Officer, the MRO and Deputy Superintendent of Police) involved should have prepared their own complaints rather than relying on a police writer.

The judge also criticized the fact that the complaints were submitted at different times of the day (14:00, 15:00, and 16:00 hours) without any mention of the involvement of the police writer in preparing them, raising concerns about the intention to implicate Reddy in the three separate FIRs. In light of these observations, Justice Lakshman concluded that the FIRs, Cr.No.154 and Cr.No.155 of 2024, were based on the same set of facts as the initial FIR (Cr.No.153 of 2024), and thus, could not be maintained. As a result, the court quashed these FIRs and directed that the complaints and statements recorded in them be treated as part of the original FIR (Cr.No.153). The investigating officer was further granted the liberty to use the information from these complaints for continued investigation.

Notifications issued for land acquisition in Polepally, Lagacherla for multipurpose industrial park

On Saturday, fresh notifications were issued for acquiring 71.39 acres in Polepally and 110.32 acres in Lagacherla villages, this time for a multipurpose industrial park

Hyderabad: Even as tribal farmers and villagers are standing firm over not parting with their lands in Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency, the Vikarabad district administration had issued fresh notifications for acquiring land in Polepally and Lagacherla under Dudyal mandal.

In the earlier notifications, 1358.37 acres were to be acquired in Hakimpet, Polepally and Lagacherla for establishing a pharma village in the same mandal. However, with tribal farmers and residents putting up a relentless fight, the notifications were withdrawn on Friday.

On Saturday, fresh notifications were issued for acquiring 71.39 acres in Polepally and 110.32 acres in Lagacherla villages, this time for a multipurpose industrial park.

Compared to the last notification, the land acquisition area has been curtailed from 632.26 acres to 110.32 acres in Lagacherla, while the acquisition area remains the same in Polepally village.

The farmers and residents have been vociferously declaring that they would not part with their lands. Yet, the State government is sticking to its plans on acquisition and this time it is for a multipurpose industrial park in place of a pharma village.

Ever since the land acquisition notification was issued on August 3, the farmers and villagers have been up in arms against acquisition. Since the last few months, protests have been staged at different places over the State government’s plans.

On November 12, Vikarabad district Collector Prateek Jain and KADA special officer Venkat Reddy were chased away by the villagers when they wanted to conduct a public hearing programme in Lagacherla.

A few persons, including farmers have been arrested in connection with the incident. Women had complained about atrocities by police at midnight.

Following the incident, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Jatothu Hussain Nayak visited Lagacherla and neighbouring villages and interacted with the farmers and villagers.

Speaking to media persons, Hussain Nayak had said the farmers and residents were not willing to part with their lands for any kind of projects.

This apart, the National Human Rights Commission had taken cognizance of the Lagacherla incident and a three-member delegation visited the village and interacted with the farmers. They also visited the Sangareddy jail where the farmers have been jailed and interacted with them.

BRS takes out Deeksha Diwas rally in darkness; Congress foul play suspected

Hyderabad: With streetlights going off abruptly and unusually, BRS leaders were on Friday forced to take out a rally in darkness from the Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital to Telangana Bhavan at Banjara Hills. The party leaders termed it a deliberate attempt by the Congress government to disrupt the rally.

Commemorating the Deeksha Diwas, the BRS cadre from Hyderabad took out a massive two-wheeler rally from different parts of the city to Telangana Bhavan on Friday. Ahead of the celebrations at the party headquarters, the BRS planned to take out rally on a small stretch from the Cancer Hospital to Telangana Bhavan. However, the programme got delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Soon after the BRS leaders started marching towards Telangana Bhavan, the streetlights in the area went off, an unusual occurence on the busy thoroughfare in the middle of the city. Several flex banners installed by the BRS cadre were also found torn and damaged.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan on the occasion, BRS working president KT Rama Rao held the Congress government responsible for indulging in petty tactics to undermine the event.

“When Banjara women came in their traditional attire to participate in the Deeksha Divas, the streetlights were turned off. This shows the Congress’s narrow mindedness,” he said. He asserted that the rally was not meant to criticise anyone but to honour the spirit of Telangana’s struggle and sacrifices.
