Nirmal: A Forest Range Officer (FRO) was caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 to visit a timber depot and forward an inspection report to higher officials in Khanapur on Thursday. ACB Adilabad DSP Madhu said Khanapur FRO Ravinder was arrested for receiving the bribe from the depot owner.
Ravinder reportedly harassed the owner by demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000. He agreed to accept Rs 12,000 after being requested. He was taken into custody after he was found to have received the bribe. He was produced before a special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar and remanded in judicial custody. Investigations have been taken up.
Meanwhile, ACB officials advised the public to report if any public servant demands a bribe to perform an official favour by contacting the ACB toll-free number 1064. The ACB Telangana can also be approached through social media platforms, including WhatsApp (94404 46106), Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X, formerly Twitter (@Telangana ACB). The identity of the victim/complainant would not be disclosed, the officials noted.
