BRS legal cell seeks action over alleged AI-morphed video targeting party leaders

Hyderabad: BRS legal cell State panelist Gautam Prasad Nimburi, along with members of the party’s legal cell, lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police seeking criminal action over an alleged AI-morphed video targeting BRS leaders K Chandrashekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao and J Santosh Kumar.

In his complaint, Gautam Prasad alleged that the X account “@raretelangana” posted the video on October 1, using scenes from a Telugu film with fabricated dialogues and synthetic voices. He said the video falsely projected prominent film actors as endorsing serious allegations against Chandrashekhar Rao and his family.

The complainants sought registration of an FIR under Section 173 of the BNSS, 2023, a comprehensive cyber-forensic investigation, and identification and prosecution of those responsible for creating and circulating the video. They also urged the police to identify the operators of the X account, investigate its alleged political connections and ensure the immediate removal of the video to prevent further circulation.
