Three women killed, seven seriously injured in Ananthagiri hills bus tragedy

Three women were killed and seven others seriously injured after a private travel bus carrying around 54 passengers from Sangareddy district overturned on Ananthagiri Ghat Road in Vikarabad. The passengers were travelling to attend a funeral in Chintakunta village.

Hyderabad: Three women died and seven others were seriously injured when a trip to attend a funeral turned tragic for a group of villagers from Sangareddy district after their private travel bus met with an accident on Ananthagiri Ghat Road in Vikarabad district on Saturday.

The bus, carrying around 54 passengers from Kesaram village in Patancheru, was on its way to Chintakunta village in Dharur mandal, where the passengers were scheduled to attend a funeral. The accident occurred as the vehicle was negotiating the downhill stretch of the Ananthagiri Hills.


According to information, the driver apparently lost control of the bus while descending the ghat road. The vehicle veered off its path and overturned, leaving several passengers trapped or injured. The impact caused serious injuries to several passengers, while three women died in the accident.

Local people joined the rescue effort and helped bring the injured passengers out of the vehicle before emergency services arrived.

Police and rescue personnel reached the accident site and began relief and rescue operations. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were admitted for treatment. The condition of the seven seriously injured passengers was not immediately known.

Police have begun an inquiry into the accident and are gathering details about the circumstances in which the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The bodies of the women who died were shifted for post-mortem examination.
