Outrage over attack on woman doctor at Bhoodan Pochampally PHC

Hyderabad: The medical fraternity including associations representing doctors in Telangana, strongly condemned the assault on a woman doctor who was on duty at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Bhoodan Pochampally on Friday.

The incident, which was caught on CCTV and went viral on social media, has triggered widespread concern over the safety and security of healthcare workers, particularly women deployed in rural medical facilities across Telangana.

Expressing anguish, TGO Doctors Forum and TMPHDA president Dr. Katti Janardhan said that medical staff are quite often forced to work in fear without adequate protection in remote areas.

“All our colleagues in remote locations work in vulnerable conditions at the grassroot levels,” he said.

Condemning the incident, members of Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) said that an attack on a medical professional is essentially an assault on the public healthcare system itself.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the associations have jointly urged the state government to guarantee a secure and fearless working environment across all PHCs and hospitals.

The medical associations demanded immediate legal action against the perpetrator, full-scale security deployment in medical institutions, and strict preventive protocols to ensure such safety breaches do not recur.

The associations have urged the health authorities to act swiftly to restore confidence and protect the dignity and safety of healthcare providers serving the public.
