Youth arrested for nursing student’s murder in Kothagudem’s Julurupad

Police arrested Devarakonda Pawan Kumar in connection with the murder of 18-year-old nursing student Indrapalli Harini in Kothagudem’s Julurupad mandal. Harini was found dead at her residence on September 22, following which police converted the suspicious death case into murder.

Youth arrested for nursing student’s murder in Kothagudem’s Julurupad

Kothagudem: Police arrested a youth accused in the murder of a nursing student in Julurupad mandal of Kothagudem.

Speaking to the media at Julurupad on Thursday, Kothagudem DSP L Adinarayana said the deceased, Indrapalli Harini (18), a first-year B.Sc. (Nursing) student at a private college near Tanikella in Khammam district, was found dead at her residence at Vengannapalem in the mandal on September 22.


Based on a complaint lodged by her mother Rajeshwari, a case was registered at Julurupad police station under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the BNSS. After collecting evidence and examining the postmortem report, police found that the deceased had been killed by hanging a wire around her neck. The case was subsequently converted into a murder case under Section 103(1) of the BNS.

The accused, Devarakonda Pawan Kumar, had been absconding since the girl’s death. Based on reliable information, he was arrested near the Ontigudese Road-Sitarama Project canal, the DSP added.
