Legendary Pakistan cricket team fast bowler Wasim Akram blasted the infrastructure of the country’s cricket stadiums and said that the authorities have been unsuccessful in maintaining the three stadiums on the northern side of the country. During a discussion on A Sports, Akram was asked by a fan about Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not investing in a new stadium in northern Pakistan with references to India’s Dharamsala Stadium and New Zealand’s Queenstown Stadium. Akram remarked that the roof on the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is currently in poor condition before adding that they can only dream of building a new stadium despite having a lot of area in places like Abbottabad.

“We have seen stadiums like Dharamsala and Queenstown (New Zealand) why is the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not investing in the infrastructure of stadiums in the northern areas?” the fan asked.

“We can’t even maintain three stadiums, (Baki kaha naya bana lenge) how could we make a new one? (Gaddafi ki chhat dekhi hai) Have you seen the roof of the Gaddafi Stadium that they were showing with the drone? We can’t even control the three we have. We can only dream of making a new one. We have enough area to make a new stadium, though. Abbottabad is a very beautiful ground,” Akram said.

Earlier, Akram made a sensational claim that South Africa’s David Miller, who plays for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), postponed his wedding to play the last three matches of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 for Fortune Barishal.

Akram claimed that Miller was offered $150,000 (Rs 1.24 crore approximately) to play the last three matches and he guided the side to their first title in the competition. Miller recently exchanged vows with longtime girlfriend Camilla Harris in a star-studded event in Cape Town.

“I just found out today because we were discussing who won the BPL as we were not following because of the PSL. David Miller was offered $150,000 to play three matches. He postponed his wedding,” he said on A Sports’ ‘The Pavillion’ show on March 12 after a clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings.
