Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar on Friday inspected security arrangements at the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh idol ahead of the final immersion and procession.
After offering special prayers at the idol along with senior police officials, Sajjanar said elaborate security arrangements had been made to ensure that the immersion festivities and the main procession from Balapur to Hussain Sagar passed off peacefully.
Around 20,000 police personnel have been deployed for bandobust, he said, adding that the police are coordinating with the GHMC, electricity, water works and other government departments as part of a comprehensive security plan.
Sajjanar said nearly 10,000 CCTV cameras along the major procession routes had been linked to the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) at Banjara Hills for round-the-clock monitoring.
For the safety of women and young women, 26 She Teams will operate in three shifts at crowded locations, he added.
The commissioner requested citizens to follow traffic advisories issued by the city traffic police and plan their travel accordingly.
He appealed to citizens to celebrate the immersion festival peacefully and safely.
