BRS district President Balka Suman alleged that farmers, households and industries were facing frequent power interruptions due to coal shortages and poor management. During a visit to a thermal plant in Jaipur, he demanded steps to restore full power generation.

Mancherial: BRS district President Balka Suman charged that farmers and people of Telangana were facing interruptions in power supply due to the inefficiency of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He, along with Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi, Boath legislator Anil Jadhav, former Minister Jogu Rammanna, former MLAs Koneru Konappa and Durgam Chinnaiah, visited a SCCL-owned thermal plant in Jaipur on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Suman alleged that farmers were struggling due to undeclared power cuts. Farmers were not getting power for four hours a day, while power was not being supplied for domestic needs for at least nine hours a day. The plight of industries cannot be imagined as power disruptions were being reported at least 20 times a day.
Suman said that farmers and people were experiencing the situation due to the inefficiency of Revanth Reddy. He claimed that his research and news reports indicated that SCCL was not supplying coal to thermal power plants, following a delay in clearing arrears of Rs 52,000 crore that needed to be cleared by GENCO. As a result, interruptions had become a routine affair.
The BRS leader further shared that their visit revealed that only one of the two units at the thermal plant was producing power. He disclosed that officials of the thermal company did not allow them to inspect the coal storage, fearing that the failure of the government would be exposed. The government was not supplying coal to the thermal plant owned by SCCL.
He regretted that the Chief Minister was weakening thermal power plants, causing unprecedented injustice to farmers, people and industries. He demanded that the government take steps to ensure production of 1,200 MW of power by the thermal power plant. He cautioned that they would intensify the stir if the demand was not addressed.
