Ganesh immersion turns tragic as one dies in Medak, three sustain electric shocks in Sangareddy

Ganesh immersion festivities turned tragic in Telangana as a devotee drowned during idol immersion in the Haldi Vagu Project in Medak district, while three youngsters suffered electric shocks after coming into contact with overhead power lines during an immersion procession in Sangareddy district.

Sangareddy: Ganesh idol immersion celebrations turned tragic as one person died and three others sustained electric shocks at two different places in Medak and Sangareddy districts in the early hours of Thursday.

One devotee Kamindla Ganesh (38), a resident of Masaipet mandal headquarters, drowned in Haldi Vagu project while immersing the Ganesh idol at 3 am on Thursday. The devotees were taking out a procession carrying the Ganesha idol. However, the celebrations turned tragic as he drowned in the water body. The body was retrieved after several hours of effort by locals and officials.

In another incident, three youngsters sustained serious electric shocks during the immersion procession on the bund of Pedda Cheruvu in Andole. While lifting the idol, they reportedly came in touch with overhead power lines. The injured were rushed to the Government Hospital, Jogipet.
