Hyderabad: On a rain-curtailed day, State Bank of India, Amaravati, registered a comfortable 39-24 win over Gymkhana Club after leading 23-11 at half-time in the GM Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship at YMCA Secunderabad here on Tuesday.
Continuing from where it had left off yesterday, SBI produced another fast-paced performance to catch Gymkhana Club players off guard, scoring 15 points through Krishna and Karthik, while Srikant scored four points for Gymkhana Club as SBI, Amaravati, led 15-8 at the end of the first quarter.
In a keenly contested second quarter, both teams concentrated on defence. In a low-scoring quarter, SBI, Amaravati, scored eight points against four added by Gymkhana Club as SBI led 23-11 at half-time.
After the lemon break, both teams tightened their defence. In the low-scoring second half, SBI, Amaravati, added 16 points to their tally, whereas Gymkhana Club could only muster 12 points as SBI eventually won the match.
The scores: SBI, Amaravati, 39 (Krishna 13, Kartheek 10) bt Gymkhana Club 24 (Medansh 8, Sachin 8).
