Khammam stadium likely to host Khelo India Youth Games archery event

A Khelo India Youth Games delegation inspected Sardar Patel Stadium in Khammam and expressed satisfaction with arrangements for the December archery event. District officials said hosting the competition would boost archery and sports infrastructure, with State government support

Hyderabad: A high-level delegation of Khelo India Youth Games inspected the Sardar Patel Stadium here and expressed satisfaction with the arrangements being made to host the archery event of the KIYG in December.

The delegation felt that all the facilities required to host the event were in place and expressed confidence that the venue would get the nod to host the competition.

Among those present were T. Sunil Reddy, District Youth and Sports Officer; Brijesh Kumar, Competition Manager, Khelo India, Delhi; Kranti, Technical Assistance and Liaisoning Officer, SATG; Sarangapani, ACP and president of the Khammam Archery Association; Putta Shankaraiah, Development Committee, Archery Association of India; R. Uday Kumar, Manager, District Sports Authority; Ghouse, athletics coach; and Nagesh, archery coach.

Sunil Reddy hoped that hosting such a prestigious event would give a major fillip to sports in Khammam, particularly archery, while also helping improve infrastructure, with the State government extending all possible support to promote sports.
