Hyderabad: Telangana Sports and Youth Services Minister Vakiti Srihari directed officials to ensure that the Khelo India Youth Games-2026 are organised in a prestigious and successful manner, adhering to the highest standards.
At a review meeting here on Monday, the Minister called for comprehensive facilities and seamless execution so that Telangana earns appreciation across the country for the conduct of the Games and the hospitality extended to participants.
Sports Advisor to the State Government A.P. Jithender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (Sports) Jayesh Ranjan, and Dr A. Sonibala Devi, Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of the Sports Authority of Telangana (SATG), attended the meeting.
Srihari said hosting the Khelo India Youth Games was a prestigious opportunity for Telangana and directed all departments and stakeholders to work together to ensure the smooth conduct of the Games.
The Minister asked officials to ensure that athletes, coaches, technical officials and other personnel arriving from across the country face no inconvenience. He stressed the need for adequate facilities covering accommodation, transportation, food, security, medical services, sporting venues, sports equipment and other essential requirements, leaving no scope for lapses.
Srihari said the Khelo India Youth Games should not be viewed merely as a sporting event, but as an important platform to showcase Telangana’s sporting potential and organisational capabilities to the nation.
Jayesh Ranjan informed the meeting that an Organising Committee, under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, would be constituted, with 17 sub-committees functioning under its supervision.
He said officials from various government departments would be included in the committees to strengthen inter-departmental cooperation and ensure effective execution of responsibilities.
Sports Advisor A.P. Jithender Reddy suggested that representatives of the concerned sports associations be given appropriate representation in the sub-committees.
He also stressed the need to procure the required sporting equipment well in advance, ensure its safe storage and make it readily accessible to athletes whenever required.
Dr A. Sonibala Devi briefed the meeting on the measures already initiated by the Sports Authority of Telangana for the Khelo India Youth Games-2026, the arrangements currently underway, coordination among various departments and the proposed course of action.
