Poompuhar, a mega handicrafts expo showcasing traditional products from Tamil Nadu, opened at Shilparamam on Saturday. The exhibition features Thanjavur paintings, bronze statues, brassware, sculptures, textiles, terracotta products and other crafts made by skilled artisans from across the State.

Hyderabad: Poompuhar, a mega handicrafts expo organised by the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, commenced at Shilparamam here on Saturday. The expo is open till September 23.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises P Madhan Raja inaugurated the expo and said the exhibition showcases a wide range of exquisite handicraft products created by skilled artisans from various districts of Tamil Nadu.
The exhibition features a wide variety of traditional handicrafts, including bronze statues, traditional brass lamps, Thanjavur paintings, Thanjavur art plates, papier-mâché dolls, wood and stone sculptures, brass artefacts, clay and terracotta products, cane furniture, banana-fibre products, jute products, palm-leaf products, fashion jewellery, incense, spices, handmade textiles and handloom products.
The inaugural was attended by S Amrutha Jyothi, Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, and C Gopikannan, Assistant Manager (Sales), Poompuhar.
