Massive blackouts as Hezbollah fires dozens of retaliatory rockets at Israeli sites

The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement has fired dozens of rockets at Israeli military sites in the northern flank of the 1948 occupied territories in retaliation for the ongoing brutal aggression against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news network, citing a Hezbollah statement, reported that the resistance forces launched rockets at Gesher HaZiv kibbutz, situated in the Western Galilee on the coastal highway between Nahariya and the Lebanese border, on Monday.

The statement noted that the rocket fire was in retaliation for recent Israeli strikes on “southern villages and civilian homes,” including an attack on a civil defense center at al-Adisa town in southern Lebanon.

The Hezbollah-linked Islamic Health Committee said three of its paramedics were killed in the “direct” Israeli attack on the civil defense center.

Hezbollah also announced that it had carried out a precision strike against a convoy of Israeli military vehicles inside al-Baghdadi outpost, leaving several troops injured.

Al-Mayadeen reported that about 30 rockets were fired from Lebanese territory towards the Western Galilee region.

Hebrew-language Israeli media outlets reported that “a very intense missile barrage was launched from Lebanon towards settlements in the north,” noting that sirens warning of incoming projectiles were sounded in 16 areas within the Western Galilee.

The Israeli media confirmed that there was a power outage in several neighborhoods of Nahariya city following the recent rocket attack, explaining that “projectiles had damaged an electrical transformer.”

Earlier in the day, Hezbollah had repelled two Israeli infiltration attempts into southern Lebanon.

The group said it targeted two Israeli forces with explosives, artillery shells and rockets as they attempted to infiltrate into Lebanese territory from Khirbet Zar’it and Wadi Qatmoun facing the southern border towns of Ramia and Rmeish.

Hezbollah later shelled the Zar’it barracks and targeted surveillance equipment in the Rweissat al-Alam post in the occupied Shebaa Farms, while Israeli warplanes and artillery units bombed Aita al-Shaab and Shihin and shelled Houla and Markaba with white phosphorus bombs.

The Israeli regime has been attacking southern Lebanon off and on since October 7, when it launched the devastating campaign of death and destruction in Gaza.

In retaliation, Hezbollah has launched near-daily rocket attacks on Israeli positions.

At least 280 people have been killed on the Lebanese border, most of them Hezbollah fighters but also 44 civilians.

Israel says at least ten of its troopers and six settlers have been killed in the area.

The fighting has forced the evacuation of tens of thousands from the northern part of the occupied territories, which have been pummeled by rocket fire and shelling carried out by Hezbollah and allied Palestinian groups.

Hezbollah has already fought off two Israeli wars against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006. The resistance forced the regime to retreat in both conflicts.
