A 45-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband’s cousin at Nelki Venkatapur village in Mancherial district on Wednesday night. Police said the accused had long-standing enmity with the victim and blamed her for his recent divorce.

Mancherial: A 45-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her relative following long standing enmity and suspicion of sorcery at Nelki Venkatapur village in Dandepalli mandal on Wednesday night.
Dandepalli SI Rajyavardhan said that Singathi Laxmi from the village was attacked with an axe by her husband’s cousin, Ramesh of the same village when she was sitting in front of her house around 8 pm. She died on the spot after suffering profuse bleeding.
Police said that Ramesh had been at loggerheads with Laxmi for quite a long time. Ramesh picked up an argument with Laxmi blaming for his divorce with his wife recently. In a fit of rage, he reportedly hacked Laxmi before fleeing the scene.
Laxmi’s husband Lachanna lodged a complaint with police. A murder case has been registered against Ramesh. Investigations have been taken up. A search has been launched to nab the accused person.
