Hyderabad: Well-known photographer Buddiga Srinivasa Rao passed away here after a prolonged illness, according to delayed information. He was 68 and is survived by his wife and a son.
Born in Kakinada and later settled in Hyderabad, Srinivasa Rao began his journey in photography in 1983. What started as a passion gradually transformed into a professional pursuit.
He was a member and treasurer of the Andhra Pradesh Photography Society (APPS). He was also a member of the Bird Watchers Society of Andhra Pradesh (BSAP), Butterfly Conservation Society (BCS) and the FIP Club (Federation of Indian Photography).
Srinivasa Rao, who retired as a senior accounts officer with BSNL, won several national and international awards for his photographs across genres such as wildlife and birds, macro, still life, architecture and portraits. He also participated in several photography workshops.
A passionate naturalist, he travelled extensively to wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, including Tadoba, Sunderbans, Bhigwan, Thattekad, Ganeshgudi and Amrabad, as well as several other destinations, capturing the flora and fauna of the Indian subcontinent. He was a photography mentor and educator to many.
For more than four decades, his camera became a window through which many people could see the beauty of wildlife, nature and human life in India.
