Hyderabad: Legislative Council Chairman G Sukhender Reddy on Tuesday announced that BRS MLCs Tata Madhusudhan and Naveen Kumar Reddy had been suspended from the Council for the remainder of the session.
However, BRS MLCs objected to the suspension of their colleagues and raised slogans against the Congress government. They said the decision was against the rules and demanded that the suspension orders be withdrawn.
Calling the decision undemocratic, the BRS MLCs squatted on the floor of the Council. They raised slogans such as “We want justice” and “Revanth Reddy down down”.
The suspension announcement followed a resolution passed in the Assembly, appealing to the Council Chairman to initiate stern action against the two BRS MLCs over their alleged remarks against Speaker G Prasad Kumar at Gate No. 3 of the Assembly on Monday. Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu introduced the resolution in the Council.
Earlier, Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha had introduced the resolution in the Assembly.
“This House records its strongest condemnation and profound disapproval of the highly derogatory, insulting and unparliamentary utterances purported to have been made by Tata Madhusudhan and N Naveen Kumar Reddy on Monday within the Assembly precincts near Gate No. 3 against the Speaker,” the resolution said.
Later, the two suspended MLCs were physically evicted from the media point while they were addressing the press along with other MLCs. A heated argument broke out between the MLCs and marshals over why they were being prevented from speaking to the press.
