BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao called the alleged police action against party legislators at the Telangana Assembly a “black day”, accusing the Congress government of suppressing the Opposition and alleging manhandling of women legislators.

Hyderabad: BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao termed the police action against BRS legislators at the Assembly gate a “black day” in the history of the Telangana Assembly, accusing the Congress government of using the police to suppress the Opposition. He condemned the alleged police high-handedness against the BRS women legislators and demanded answers for the misbehaviour against elected representatives.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, Harish Rao said the police manhandled BRS women legislators, with MLA V Sunitha Laxma Reddy’s saree being pulled, while former Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy was allegedly dragged by her hair and choked. “We will not spare the police personnel who misbehaved with our women members,” he warned.
Harish Rao stated that the Congress government prevented BRS legislators from raising issues concerning the six guarantees, 420 promises, pensions, fee reimbursement, farmers, teachers and employees because it feared that its alleged failures during 1,000 days of rule would be exposed. He said several BRS legislators were injured during the police action, with BRS working president KT Rama Rao suffering scratches on his hand and face, while MLC Yadav Reddy, MLAs Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and K Sanjay sustaining injuries.
“Even the injured legislators were prevented at Telangana Bhavan from being taken to hospital, after first aid,” he added.
The BRSLP deputy leader also questioned the government’s decision to stop BRS legislators from wearing black T-shirts, when Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi wore black T-shirts to Parliament. He felt that the BRS was being systematically targeted for suspension to prevent discussion on the government’s alleged failures and scams. “If the government is not at fault, why is it not allowing these issues to be discussed?” he asked.
Harish Rao warned Chief Minister and Home Minister A Revanth Reddy that he would have to pay a political price for the police action, and said people would respond to the government’s conduct through democratic means. He asserted that the BRS would continue to raise the issues despite the alleged conspiracy.
