Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka appealed to government employees to postpone their proposed “Chalo Hyderabad” protest scheduled for September 10.
However, representatives of employee associations insisted on a written assurance from the government on addressing their long-pending demands.
Following Bhatti’s appeal, the employee associations have scheduled an emergency meeting at 9 a.m. on Monday to decide their future course of action.
Under the aegis of TGEJAC, government employees, pensioners, teachers and workers have decided to hold the protest in support of their long-pending demands.
The employees have been demanding implementation of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), clearance of six pending DAs, effective implementation of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) and disbursement of retirement benefits, among other issues. Last week, they staged protests across the State, including at the Secretariat during lunch hours.
On Sunday, Bhatti held a meeting with government employees at Praja Bhavan. He said the government had introduced the health card scheme to ensure health security for employees, their family members and dependants.
He said 354 private hospitals had already been empanelled under the EHS, while several more had been included under the deemed-empanelled system. He directed officials to hold meetings with the managements of these hospitals and take necessary measures to ensure effective implementation of the scheme.
