Cybercrime police prevented a 30-year-old man from attempting suicide after spotting an Instagram message indicating his intention to end his life. A patrol team traced him to his uncle’s house in Mucherla, counselled him and handed him over to his family.

Hyderabad: Timely response from the police prevented a young man’s suicide bid after he posted a message on Instagram indicating that he intended to end his life.
The 30-year-old resident of Kollapadakal village in Maheshwaram mandal had visited his maternal uncle’s house in Mucherla on Thursday for the Bonalu festivities. On Friday evening, he posted the suicide message on Instagram.
The Cybercrime police, who noticed the post, immediately alerted the Greenpharma City police.
Acting swiftly, a patrol team comprising Prashanth, Srinivas and Chandrasekhar, under the supervision of SI G Saidulu, traced the youth to his uncle’s residence and took him into protective custody.
During questioning, he reportedly told police that he was distressed over a failed love affair and had decided to take the extreme step.
Police counselled him and handed him over to his family members.
