During the phone talk, Amir-Abdollahian stressed the need for Iran and Pakistan to pursue the implementation of the recent agreements reached between the two countries to broaden security and anti-terror cooperation.
He also appreciated the successful national election in Pakistan and expressed hope that the country’s new prime minister and cabinet will be introduced soon with the formation of the parliament.
The top Pakistani diplomat, for his part, stressed that Iran has an important position in Pakistan’s foreign policy.
Jilani expressed hope that Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi would pay a visit to Islamabad soon.
Touching upon the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza, Jilani welcomed Iran’s proposal to hold an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to put an end to Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
