An SCCL overman allegedly died by suicide after setting himself on fire in a forest area near Nagulamma Temple in Bhupalpally district on Tuesday night. Police registered a case and launched an investigation, while financial difficulties were cited as a possible reason.

Bhupalpally: An SCCL employee died by allegedly suicide near Nagulamma Temple at Koyyur village of Malhar Rao mandal in the district.
The deceased, Bathula Krishna Chaitanya (32) staying at Centenary Colony Singareni quarters in Peddapalli district had been working as an overman at Adriyala Longwall Project (ALP) mine in SCCL’s RG-3 area.
He was said to have called his wife Padmavathi moments before ending his life. He doused himself with petrol and set himself on fire in the forest area near the temple on Tuesday night. The body was burned beyond recognition, police said.
Koyyur police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. According to preliminary reports, financial difficulties were said to have driven Chaitanya, a native of Manuguru in Kothagudem, to take the extreme step.
