Hyderabad: BRS turncoat MLA from Khairatabad Danam Nagender courted controversy again on Tuesday by warning Housing Department officials that he was prepared to abuse them like Old City MLAs over their alleged negligence.
Nagender expressed strong displeasure with Housing Department officials for failing to properly verify the details of beneficiaries shortlisted for Indiramma Houses. He alleged that beneficiaries from other constituencies, including Moosapet, Kukatpally, Erragadda, Amberpet and Nampally, had been shortlisted for houses in the Khairatabad constituency.
“Don’t you have any responsibility? Did you scrutinise the applications comprehensively? There is gross negligence and action should be initiated against them,” Nagender demanded while speaking to the media.
The Khairatabad MLA also alleged that officials showed little respect towards Ministers and MLAs.
“Old City MLAs abused an official badly in front of me. I too am prepared to adopt the same practice. I am used to this and had been to jail for 12 days for beating an officer,” Nagender said.
The remarks came three days after Nagender criticised Housing Department officials for conducting the lucky draw to identify beneficiaries for Indiramma Towers without waiting for him to arrive at the venue.
Expressing his displeasure, Nagender questioned the purpose of having an MLA in a constituency if protocol was not followed. He had also warned that he would serve a privilege notice over the incident.
