Over 170 students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential College for Women at Budhera staged a protest alleging poor-quality food, insect-infested rice and harassment by the principal. Officials visited the institute and assured students that their complaints would be brought to senior authorities.

Sangareddy: Students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential College for Women (TGSWRCW), Budhera, staged a massive protest on the hostel premises accusing the management of serving poor-quality food. Even though they had raised multiple complaints about being served insect-infested rice, the students alleged that the principal had refused to resolve the issue.
As the students were facing multiple other issues in the hostel, over 170 students gathered and staged a protest on Monday, which attracted the attention of local leaders. These leaders immediately brought the issue to the notice of local MLA and Health Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, who directed the officials over the phone to carry out an inquiry into the allegations made by the students without any delay.
The students further complained to the officials that principal P Shailaja had also been harassing them. They said that Shailaja was forcing at least one of them to sleep close to her room instead of on their regular cots. The protesting students wrote a detailed complaint, which they submitted to SC Corporation Executive Director Rama Chary, Backward Classes Development Officer A Jagadish and other officials who arrived at the institute.
The students said that the principal had created many issues for students wherever she had worked in the past. The officials assured them that they would bring their issues to the notice of Collector Prateek Jain and Minister Damodara. The students relented after the officials assured them that their issues would be resolved.
