US economic terrorism should be condemned: Araghchi

In his letter, Argahchi explained Iran’s position on US economic terrorism operations and emphasized the legal and moral responsibility of the United Nations to condemn Washington’s action.

The Iranian minister declared goal of this so-called US economic terrorism operation as to end legal economic relations with Iran, which is backed by the US threat of secondary sanctions and deprivation from the US financial system.

In part of the letter, the Foreign Minister stated: This so-called operation is a clear deviation from the verdict and order of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and shows the severity of the crimes that the US is committing against the people of Iran, because on October 3, 2018, the ICJ unanimously ordered that the US government allow free exports of (1) medicines and medical equipment; (2) food and agricultural goods; and (3) ensure the supply to Iran of spare parts, equipment and related services (including warranty, maintenance, repair and inspection services) required for the safety of civil aviation, as well as issue “necessary licenses and authorizations” and facilitate the transfer of payments and other related funds.
