Hyderabad gears up for Milad-un-Nabi processions

HYDERABAD: The stage is set for Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed, with celebrations on Wednesday and several religious programmes lined up across Hyderabad.

Blood donation and food distribution camps are planned in different parts of the city, while various organisations will distribute fruits among patients at hospitals. Some hospitals are also expected to conduct free health check-up camps for the public.

The Markazi Milad Juloos, the main procession, will begin at Charminar and proceed towards Moghalpura via Gulzar Houz, Pathergatti, Nayapul, Darulshifa, Mandi Mir Alam, Etebar Chowk and Kotla Alijah before culminating at Moghalpura.

Thousands of people are expected to participate in the procession, with smaller processions from different parts of the city joining the main juloos along the route.

Similar local processions have also been planned at Erragadda, Borabanda, Musheerabad, Rajendranagar, Chintalmet, Kalwakurthy, Shadnagar and other areas.

The police have made elaborate security arrangements for the processions. The movement of the juloos will be monitored through drones and the city’s surveillance camera network, while adequate police bandobast has been deployed along the routes and at sensitive locations.

Religious scholars and community elders have appealed to the youth to maintain discipline during the festivities and ensure that their celebrations do not cause inconvenience or trouble to anyone.

They urged participants to cooperate with the police and maintain peace and harmony throughout the celebrations.
